While it isn't a major station, the old style wooden buildings, and the walkway, are quite lovely. Mind you, disability access is a little lacking, particularly when it comes to the pedestrian bridge.

This is another one of those gorgeous railway stations that I simply adore. Okay, the lack of…read moretoilets is pretty annoying (because I love railway stations with toilets, for obvious reasons) but the old buildings, on both sides of the track mind you, make this place an absolute delight. In fact I find myself here more often than not, probably because it is a short walk to high street where some of my favourite bars are located.

The funny thing with this station is that the two stations before it (coming from the city end)…read morelook exactly like this one, but then again I guess railway stations are sort of supposed to look fairly similar so there is that. However, it is quite a nice station, and the trains do pass through here quite regularly which is certainly something that I appreciate. The thing that annoyed me though is the lack of facilities, and by facilities I mean rest rooms. However, there is one nearby so I guess that does make up for the lack of facilities in the station.

All I'm gonna say is that my previous local train station was Dandenong…read more So, it may not have the latest and greatest signs and technology, but I'm happy to be not fearing for my life at 10pm on a Friday night. And it's certainly prettier than most stations. Only bummer is that most Cranbourne/Pakenham lines are express and therefore skip this station.

This station is basically the end of the line, and in part it feels as if not that many people use…read moreit. Hey, it isn't as if it is too far from many of the places, and as far as I'm concerned, it is a shorter walk to the main town square than any of the other stations (well, maybe not). At least it does have a nice building, and there is also a rather old pedestrian footbridge, not that I see much use for it though considering that the train can't go that much further - with there being water and all that.

In a way, I have given this station more credit than it is due in the past, namely because of the…read morereally nice buildings, and that it has been quite convenient to me as well. However, it is one of those stations that I would consider a useless station, namely because it only works to basically slow down the trains along the South Morang line, and the two stations to either side are close enough to walk to. Mind you, I highly doubt that the government could get away with removing this station to speed up the trains.

Honestly, I should be giving this place a lower rating than I have, basically due to governments…read moretrying to do things on the cheap. This is basically a major interchange station. Well, sort of since the lines only branch off in two directions. However, they will be bypassing this station for the new metro, which really annoys me, considering that this is a pretty major station. However, there isn't all that much around here anyway so I guess I can forgive them for that.

However, the architecture does reflect a rather nice beauty about the place, if it wasn't for the fact that it has a complete lack of restrooms, though I have come to expect that from stations such as these. This is one of the newer stations that have been built along the Mernda line, where they opened it…read moreup beyond South Morang (and now they need to extend it all the way to Whittlesea). Anyway, they certainly have done quite well with these stations. They are large, spacious, and the trains are reasonably frequent. They are also staffed, which is pretty good, and have facilities as well. Oh, they are also pretty accessible as well. They have certainly come a long way since those rather disappointing stations of the mid-20th Century.
