Breakfast for dinner is always a win in my book. I recommend getting a resy and coming later in the evening when it's less crowded. It's a much calmer vibe than during the day from what I've heard. Best pancakes of my life and it's not particularly close. Fluffy on the inside and crispy on the inside. The chocolate chunks weren't overly sweet, which is how I like them. The maple butter was good, but I think the pancakes stand alone with or without it. read more

10/10!!!! We will be back for sure on our next NYC trip! I got the banana walnut pancakes and will be getting them again, the walnuts throughout along with on top gave it a perfect crunch. The warm maple butter was exceptional! The pancakes themselves really were that good, I just in of themselves because they were fluffy but had the perfect slight crisp on the edges. Gosh, I need to go back. Great atmosphere too! read more

Pancakes were good but not enough to be worth the line. Honestly I've had better pancakes in other places without needing to wait hours. Service was really slow on a random Tuesday morning, I get it you're packed but if this is how it is during the week I don't even wanna know how weekends are. Barely had room to sit comfortably without being on top of people when I needed to scoot out of my chair to get to the bathroom. We ordered a smoked salmon scramble which was really nice but again not worth the wait. One and done for sure. read more

An NYC staple but like most things, not worth waiting for such a long time for what it is. The biscuits are delicious, pancakes are fluffy, and service is great. Be prepared to wait at least an hour for a table, good opportunity to go thrifting and grab a coffee elsewhere. There are truly other places with better food and less of a wait. But this is kind of one of those places you have to try once, just to say you did. read more

This breakfast spot is a must go to if you're in New York City. It's far from the city but definitely worth it! I would definitely make a reservation because the line gets very long and there could be a long wait. However, the turnover is very fast. The service is phenomenal. All of the waiters were so friendly and multiple waiters stopped at our table to talk to us. The ambiance was so quaint. It's a small space but still felt very spacious. The pancakes were amazing! The syrup was warm, light, and not too sweet. The only thing I woke t get are the biscuits. They are very dry and flavorless. read more

This place has been on my list to visit for the last three years--so glad I finally made it! We didn't have a reservation but added our names to the list and were told it would be a 45-minute wait. Surprisingly, we were seated in just 10 minutes. It seemed much easier to seat a party of two, as larger groups appeared to have a longer wait. From the hostess to our server, the service was excellent. I forgot to snap a picture, but the blueberry lemonade was delicious--refreshing and not overly sweet. Our food came out quickly, and everything was amazing. The pancakes truly lived up to the hype--some of the best I've ever had. We also tried the vegan sandwich, which was a great option. Just be sure to ask them to hold the cheese if you're strictly vegan. The space is cozy and fills up fast, so I definitely recommend making a reservation if you can--or packing some patience. This place is always packed. We had to come back early Sunday morning in order to try their breakfast. We got the country breakfast to share and a stack of regular pancake. My son got a stack of chocolate chunk pancake. The pancakes are big and fluffy. The chocolate chunk pancake had lots of chocolates. If you like chocolate, this is the pancake for you. read more

Hmm Im on the fence as to how to rate this place. The panycakes were fluffy. Are they better than ihop, uh yes, but for the price and the hype i was expecting something else. The cheesy grits was not bad. I think what made it better was that my friend added black pepper on it. I ate the grits with a piece of yht The sugar cured bacon was good when you eat a piece that's not burnt. Cause the bacon was burnt. (review in drafts from 2018/2019) read more

I had wanted to try Clinton Street for awhile. I'm glad I was finally able to stop in. I absolutely loved it here! I reserved a table for 2 at 6:30 during the week. It was very empty; if you're trying to get a reservation, make one during the week! We had pancakes with blueberries and chocolate and bacon. Everything we tried was delicious and fresh. The pancakes were buttery, thick and the best pancakes I've ever had! I couldn't finish them; they're large pancakes and the portion is very big for $20. They had daily specials as well. I'd love to try more of their food options next time. But, I can't wait to have the pancakes again! I highly recommend this place! The inside is cozy and has relaxing vibes too. read more

Highly recommend making a reservation! This place is busy and deserves to be. We shared some of the well renowned pancakes (loved the maple butter) and their country breakfast (potatoes and biscuit was so good). There is some bias to my review, as my taste in breakfast is a southern style cuisine. The breakfast restaurants in the city have not lived up to my expectations for menu options and flavor. With that being said, this is a good breakfast spot and there were a good amount of options to choose from, however I cannot say it lives up to the hype it receives. I would say, do not kill yourself trying to get a reservation or wait forever trying to walk in, but if you have the opportunity to go it's worth the try!! read more

4 stars is pretty accurate for Clinton Street. It's definitely a tourist trap, however, and there are a large variety of options to have brunch in the city. Pancakes were good, but a little too dense for my liking. I'm pretty particular with pancakes bring on the lighter side. Not sure if I'd return, this is the kind of place to visit at least once as a NYC experience. read more

Took me a while to check out this place because it was almost impossible to get a brunch reservation here!! I finally was able to snatch a reservation for late brunch on a Saturday. - Blueberry pancakes: 100/10 (the PERFECT rendition of a classic pancake. The pancakes were buttery and fluffy, not too sweet but not too salty, and the maple syrup added a nice sweet touch.) - Latke Eggs Benedict: 100/10 (I thought this place only did pancakes well but oh boy was I wrong! I was actually blown away by the egg Benedict here. Loved the tangy mustard sauce and the egg and muffin were cooked to perfection.) Service was extremely fast (literally took 5 minutes for the food to come out). Ambiance was very casual and diner-like. It did get pretty loud though... so not the best place if you want to enjoy some peaceful breakfast. read more

So delicious. The latke egg Benedict was my favorite--the smoked salmon, hollandaise sauce, eggs, latke, and caviar were a perfect combo. The omelette and hash browns were also done so well. I actually found that the blueberry pancake was my least favorite and a little bit dry, although it looked gorgeous. Still, the maple butter mitigated the dryness, so it was also very good. Prices also seemed very reasonable Arrived at 8:35 on a Sunday morning, with a few people ahead of me. Shortly after, many people had joined the line after me. This was one of our Fav bFast spots But after our experience this afternoon for my boyfriends birthday brunch .. we were both left very disappointed by what could have happened .. Firstly .. we found a HAIR in the aioli that comes with the green tomatoes .. & all that was done was a new one was given.. no sincere apology or anything to make up for that.. & let's be honest .. that is absolutely Disgusting .. the pancakes which were usually the star of the show feel short of our expectations.. his blueberry still better than my banana. We ordered both types of bacon and both were hard.. not crispy as you would expect good bacon to be. The coffee was bitter and way too dark. The fries were great. Although the website says walk-ins are accepted, I decided to make reservations so my friends and I would be guaranteed a seat. We arrived on time and had a 20 minute wait before we were seated. FYI, they WILL NOT seat you unless your entire party is present. So tell all of your late friends to meet you 30 mins before the actual reservation. Upon entering, it was giving diner and cafeteria vibes. The clanking of the dishes, the echos from the crowd, all of the natural lighting from the windows, and the fast paced wait staff. All of the menu items looked delicious, but we had to make a decision. Although I don't eat pancakes with fruit, I am taking a chance on my choices because I wanted to try it. I got the Banana walnut pancakes with maple butter with a side of double smoked bacon (No, it doesn't come with any meats) Now anyone who eats pancakes knows that one serving of syrup, in this case, maple butter, is not enough. We need the pancakes covered. Well an additional serving of maple butter will cost you $2.50. I think there should be a bottle or pouring jar on the table for customers to use as they desire because I really needed 2 more maple butters, but that would have been ridiculous to pay for. Nonetheless, the pancakes were very good. Th bananas did not hinder the taste or flavor, and the maple butter was very good. The pancakes were light and fluffy with crispy edges just like I like them. A brunch institution known for their pancakes and long wait times. Surprisingly not a tourist trap! Came here on a Saturday with a friend for a late lunch. Knowing there would be a long wait time since we did not have reservations, my friend arrived at around 11:15 am to put our names down and was quoted a 2.5 hr wait. She went to a nearby coffee shop to read until I joined her at 12:30 pm (side note, best friend ever!). After yapping for about an hour, we realized it was about time to be checked in, but hadn't yet received a text. We walked over to check with the hostess and were quoted another 25 minutes. However, by the time my friend had used the restroom and re-joined me outside, they texted that our table was ready! For food, we split the blueberry pancakes and the fried chicken sandwich. The fried chicken sandwich was solid, but nothing out of this world in my opinion. However, it definitely hits the spot if you are craving one. Same with the side of fries-- not bad but not amazing. Meanwhile, the pancakes were actually really good! I say actually because they are very much hyped, but they are high quality, fluffy pancakes. I thought the blueberry compote was just ok, but the warm maple butter to drizzle was the star. I think if you're trying to decide on a topping for the pancakes, just go with whatever sounds best to you! By the time we finished at around 2:30 pm, it seemed like there were some empty tables. My husband had the pancakes and I had the Spanish scramble. We have had better food in our hometown. It was very busy though I will say that. I am SO happy to say this restaurant lives up to the hype. The Blueberry Pancakes were Out of This World and the Veggie Sandwich was fresh, flavorful and hearty. Came for an early weekday breakfast. No reservations remaining online so we decided to chance a walkin reservation. We arrived at 10am and were seated immediately. It was already very full. Service: soon as we sat we were greeted and provided water and asked for our drink order. They checked a couple times for readiness for orders. Pancakes are as fluffy and moist as pancakes can be, but due to their thickness, the syrup doesn't fully soak through. Recommend more of a cut and dip action. Eggs benedict featured a decent thickness hollandaise sauce that wasn't too heavy. Egg was perfectly poached. Ambiance (3/5) - Can get really breezy if sitting near the bar or the door. Tables are pretty cramped, and can get pretty loud. It is nice and bright though and feels like brunch at all times. Service (4/5) - Helpful once you're seated and despite the busy restaurant, don't rush your decisions. That being said, can be a bit snappy at the front desk when waiting for a table... often can rack up to 2h wait even if you're willing to sit at the bar. Another great breakfast stable in New York City Now these pancakes are delicious. I still think golden diner has them beat, but for traditional pancake they're definitely unique and they are in their own category. The blueberries tastes fresh the pancake, soft, sweet the warm, maple butter enhances the pancake so much. Is there something you truly have to try to understand place is a little small, but adds to the excitement because it's not just a place you can just walk in and sit down. I've been in the area for a very long time but have never had the chance to get pancakes from Clinton street. It seemed like a good time to finally try these pancakes I'd heard so much about. We got the blueberry and chocolate chip pancakes to split. Despite the popularity of this place, we managed to get seated pretty quickly despite the busy morning. Staff was very pleasant and made sure our coffee and water was refilled often. I would say these are the archetype of a proper pancakes - crispy edges and a soft middle. The blueberry pancakes were definitely my favorite and absolutely worth all of the hype. read more

I am so over hyped places.. that are just... Ok. Came from out of town with high expectations. It was just.. OK. Decent.. but nothing special. Ive had much better breakfasts. I would not go out of my way to come here. The black and white cake, was frankly pretty bad. Dry cake, and flavorless frosting. We threw it out after a few bites. The staff and service were nice. We visited our favorite breakfast spot ever and got the chicken and waffles again. It is so delicious with the warm maple butter syrup, it's seriously the best syrup that it has ruined all other syrups for me. The chicken is a generous size, it's tender, moist and crispy with good flavor. The waffle is soft and subtly sweet. They also have the perfect crispy hand cut fries and real freshly squeezed orange juice! I did make a reservation on Resy one month in advance for when they opened at 9am. By the time we lined up at 8:50am, they had a line of 8 parties or so ahead of us. We got seated after those parties, I'm not sure if they had a reservation or not. But the service is always wonderful. They're quick and efficient. And they now take card! Ate here during a recent trip to New York. It was on my aunt's must hit list. And it was definitely a MUST! We got there right when it opened so we did not have to worry about waiting for a seat. There were also 15 other people with the same idea. Our server was so helpful and kind. We all ordered quickly and got drinks with our order. Everything we got was seriously so so good. I got the salmon benedict and it was perfect. the eggs were cooked perfectly and it was seasoned so nicely. I loved it so much. I would definitely try to stop here to eat any time i was in town. Came here this past Sunday for brunch without reservations with my wife and 2 kids. We arrived at 9AM and were told there's approximately 1hr-1.5hr wait time which we were ok with. The place looks like a typical restaurant from the outside, but inside it felt like an retro dinner. Let's get to the food shall we? We ordered their famous blueberry pancakes to share for the table but my 3 year old had plans of her own. We also ordered the old country breakfast which was just ok, scrambled eggs were good, hash browns were good, the biscuit was very bland, and the chicken sausage wasn't anything special. We ended up ordering a 2nd round of blueberry pancakes and it was very yummy. Overall experience was ok, would I come here again? Maybe if I had decent reservations or a 30 min wait. read more

Great breakfast here on a weekday. Wait was less than expected for this popular spot. Tight quarters restaurant with good standard breakfast foods. We had the chicken and waffles so good and fresh . It's always a pleasure to come back to our favorite place it's my number one spot. The food is always on point. The chef always makes great food and is such an amazing person. We are world famous for our breakfast and brunch dishes, including pancakes, eggs benedict, brioche french toast, buttermilk fried chicken & waffles, and house made burgers and fries. Save room for our hand-crafted Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory milkshakes, spiked or virgin. All muffins, pies, cakes and most of our bread is baked in small batches on premises. Brunch cocktails and draft beer are very popular. We serve brunch house classics for #breakfastfordinner.

History

Established in 2001.

When we began, we were a small wholesale baking company with a storefront and a few loyal neighborhood customers who lingered over coffee and muffins and tapped out on their laptop keys (before smartphones were born). These days, most folks know that are pancakes are voted best in the city, but it's the savory dishes that ground our menu and make us proud. People call it "comfort food," but what we dish out is American Classics made with the highest quality ingredients, locally sourced -- whenever possible -- with lots of love (and butter).

Meet the Business Owner: Neil and Dede K.

Chef Neil Kleinberg raised himself in a crazy kitchen in Flatbush, Brooklyn, among 4 kids, 2 parents, 16 neighborhood cousins, and 6 aunts and uncles. Neil opened his first restaurant, Simon's in Lincoln Center, at just 22 and in 1997 re-opened the legendary seafood restaurant, Lundy's, in his native Brooklyn. Neil has appeared on Martha Stewart Living, The Today Show, Good Day New York, The Cooking Channel's "United Tastes of America, "Real Food" on PBS, and has thrown it down with Food Network's Bobby Flay. He the co-author of The Clinton St. Baking Co. Cookbook and owns the restaurant with his wife and partner, DeDe Lahman, Director of Operations and Global Business.

For the entree I went for the roasted half chicken, perhaps the most unassuming choice on the menu but this was maybe the best roast chicken I've ever had. Prepared perfectly, cooked to perfection, excellent portion size, and the kicker of it all was the stunning gravy that I was tempted to lick my plate for. Chicken is very easy to screw up, and they nailed it on all fronts here. My girlfriend went for the Valerie Signature burger with white cheddar and this thing did not mess around! A very rich patty, cooked to her temperature of choice served alongside some garlic truffle fries that made an American classic feel just a little more elevated. Our experience was delightful and I'd love to comeback here again, especially to check out more of the cocktail menu and soak in more of that golden age aura the place gives.

The smashburger patties were nicely cooked - though I did find the patties didn't really have the crispy lacing, perhaps of the added moisture from the onions; with a great video of the griddle and kitchen, it did seem like the classic smash burgers did have that crispy look. Either way, the burger was still very satisfying and I'm glad I came by. I'll definitely have to come in for the classic smash and compare!

I was asked on my day off to go with my friends to Clinton St Baking Company. I've heard a lot about the pancakes and I decided to get out of my comfy bed and get ready. Let's just say we aimed to eat at 10am but we didn't actually get seated until 12pm. 2 hours in the cold not so fun.... luckily I had good company. Once we did get seated I was slightly disgusted by the dirty fork that was on the table (chocolate remnants from the last person... not so appetizing) . The waitress was awesome though and got me a new CLEAN fork asap. Also, since we were sitting near the front of the door there were people standing near our table listening to our convo and looking at our food. Another slightly annoying thing was every time the door opened there was a breeze that made it pretty chilly. Not really my thing after standing in the cold for 2 hours waiting. I ordered the hot chocolate with khalua and it was huge and pretty to look at but I think they needed to add in a little more alcohol just to give it that extra kick (maybe its because i'm an alchy but i like to taste the liquor ESPECIALLY if its something I pay extra for). I had chocolate pancakes and an order of sweet and salty bacon. The pancakes were amazing especially with the maple butter. It was ridiculously good and it was melting in my mouth. The sweet and salty bacon however wasn't as good as I would've liked. If I had to choose between the two I would choose the SWEET bacon. That's a really a big thing since I hate sweet salty combo in food. I love salty bacon but when it was brought out it looked weird slightly burned and old and what really killed it was that it didn't really have much taste. The sweet bacon had really good flavor and looked prettier which is really important when eating. I would not recommend wasting your time. You will be waiting to be made fun of at this restaurant. My wife and I have been coming to NYC from Louisiana for 5 years to visit my daughter who lives in Manhattan. We look for all the top rated places to eat each time we come to visit. We have always loved the people and the awesome food all over the city, but we've never been treated so rude as we were the morning of Tuesday March 26, 2013 at this restaurant. Waiting an hour and a half for a table is not a problem for us, but once we got inside we were laughed and gawked at by the two waitresses and the water boy the whole time. All because I asked for a glass of water. If the owner would have been monitoring his servants that day he would have fired these 3 people. It all got started when I asked for a glass of water after the orange juice had been delivered to the table.The italian in me wanted to lash out at these people but I am not about making a scene in a restaurant. The highly rated taste of the pancakes does not reflect the attitude of the servants in this place whatsoever. I was so ready to leave that I could not tell you whether the food was tasty or not. I ended up spending 75 dollars plus a tip for 3 orders of pancakes and orange juice for my wife, daughter and myself. What a huge let down to my daughter who wanted my wife and I to be treated to a place she has been a few times. All of us were telling friends at a social the same night, not to waste your time going to this place. But if you are ok with extremely poor service then go ahead and give it a try. read more

If you haven't been to Clinton street bakery yet, youve missed out on some phenomenal pancakes. But beware!! You will be waiting at least an hour and a half, depending on the day and time you decide to swing by the restaurant. If you can, check into the restaurant so you can get your name on the waiting list, go do whatever else you need to do, and then return back. If you time it just right, you won't need to wait too long to be seated. Ok, onto the food itself! If you read the other reviewers, all you read about are the pancakes and it is no joke! It is definitely worth it! My review is more about the eggs Benedict. The dish was elegantly Prepared, even after we told them to rush the order because of a time constraint I had on my part. They still took the time to make it look just right, so it earned some points with me. The hollandaise sauce was a little salty to my taste but the biscuit and ham cancelled that out real quick. It was a nice balance of sweet and salty. Overall, no complaints from my end. As for my girlfriend, she had the plain pancakes with the maple butter and she still gives it five stars each time she has it! Food wise, it is five stars all the way, but the only complaint would be the wait time. I signed up on the list and waited almost two hours before I got seated. I had to keep checking up on the guy with the list to make sure we didn't get bumped down accidentally. Each time I asked, the wait time got extended another 20 minutes. I recently visited Clinton Street Baking Company with my cousin, who was visiting from out of town. We decided to try their pancakes, which are often hailed as the "best in NYC." Let me say, they were far from it--these were the worst pancakes I've ever tasted. They were doughy, lacked any flavor complexity, and tasted like plain flour and milk with no hint of vanilla or anything else to elevate them. The blueberry compote was equally disappointing--bland and lacking the distinct sweetness and tartness you'd expect, likely made with out-of-season fruit. We ordered the blueberry pancakes based on the waitress's suggestion after asking for recommendations. Her response? "I don't eat pancakes, but they're popular." I would've appreciated her honesty if she had just said they weren't good because she was absolutely right. In addition to the pancakes, we ordered a side of apple chicken sausage, which had decent flavor but was overly dry. We also tried the chicken and waffles, which were just okay--nothing memorable or worth mentioning. The service didn't help either. It was lackluster, with long wait times for food that ended up being a massive letdown. To make matters worse, the waitress noticed the uneaten pancakes and still charged us for a dish I clearly did not enjoy. Overall, the experience was incredibly disappointing, and I wouldn't recommend this spot for pancakes or anything else based on my visit. CASH ONLY - did not know this when I went in, and was surprised since they get such good business. Luckily, I had a friend spot me. I put my name down on the NoWait app on Sunday at 11:30, and was seated at 1:30 for a table of 6. I liked the openness of their location - with the windows and bright white them. They get very busy, so it took a while for our server to take our order, but they were accommodating. We got blueberry pancakes and chocolate pancakes ($15 each) to start for the whole table. The majority thought the blueberry pancakes were better, but I'm a chocolate lover! Regardless, the pancakes were very fluffy and moist, and the syrup was a great complement because it wasn't too sweet. My friend and I shared the Southern Breakfast ($14) and the Spanish Scramble ($14). The Spanish Scramble was good - the omelette was super flavorful without being dry, and the hash browns were good but I would've preferred them a little more fried. The Southern Breakfast, I would definitely get again. The cheese grits had a subtle flavor, and went well with the fried green tomatoes. The sugar cured bacon was probably the best bacon I've had, but I definitely wouldn't have been able to finish all of them as it can get too sweet at some point. I would definitely come back here again if I were in the one-mile radius for the No Wait app, and had time on a weekend. read more

I recently visited Clinton St. Baking Co. during their highly anticipated Pancake Month to finally try the famous apple pie pancakes ...and they did not disappoint! Since it's located right in the city, parking can definitely be a challenge. There's no street parking, but thankfully there's a garage close by, which made things much easier. This location is smaller compared to their Clinton St. Baking Company - DUMBO location, and you can definitely feel the difference. It's a tight space, but still cozy and welcoming in its own way. Even though it was packed, the service was impressively fast. The staff kept things moving smoothly, and we didn't feel rushed. Now for the food, absolutely amazing. My husband and I both ordered the same meal: the apple pie pancakes (of course!), eggs with cheese, and chicken sausage. I paired mine with a fresh-squeezed orange juice, while he enjoyed a mimosa. The pancakes were delicious! Fluffy, flavorful, and everything you'd expect from a pancake. I do wish there had been a few more apples in the topping, but honestly, it was still so good that I can't complain much. The bill was very reasonable for the quality and portions we received, especially in NYC. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'll definitely continue to be a supporter. I considered giving Clinton Street Baking Company 4 stars because of the subpar hostess job, but I didn't think it was fair to the best fried chicken and pancakes I've ever had! Went here with some co-workers for the first time a few months ago and I've been back two times already with my wife. The fried chicken platter is simply amazing. Delicious, moist, fried-golden and A LOT OF IT. Cole slaw is nothing to gawk about, but still yummy. Pancakes and waffles or crispy and fluffy, a combo rarely seen. The pre-meal biscuits are also to die for - ask for jelly/jam, because it doesn't come with! The only bad part about this restaurant is/was the hostess. Two times I've been here with my wife and her table hierarchy always baffles me. First time we were clearly there before two other couples and both of them got seated before us. When I asked, she said that they were here before us, which was BS. Second time there were again 2 other couples, making a total of 3. Two, 2-person tables opened up and we were all pretty much fighting for who got the tables because she gave them to the first person standing there (not the first person who made reservations). Nevertheless, the food is just too good, and I didn't think it would be right to give it anything less than 5 stars. Will be going back soon. Prices are reasonable. read more

Surely it cant be that good? Why is it so hard to get a lunch reservation? How good can a pancake get? These questions and more were all answered when I visited for a late 3pm lunch (the only reservation for 4 i could get). They were: - yes it can be that good - because the food is so yummy - really damn good Clinton St is nestled in a convenient location in LES, and is constantly bustling with activity as new yorkers scramble to get their quality pancake fix. I came at a sun drenched cold winter day and the clamor with breakfast food smells upon entering was more than inviting. The food, lawd the food was fantastic. Pictures are attached and honestly they dont do the food justice. I dont think anything except going yourself and eating then would really do the experience justice. The pancakes were delightfully fluffy, faintly sweet, and almost crispy on the browned surface, serving as the perfect accompaniment to their maple butter and colorful toppings. The waffle was decadent with the berry jam being a exquisite tart contrast to the sweet cream. The latkes were crispy and dense, delicious with the sourcream + apple sauce. The bloody mary... wasnt mine so i cant speak to it but its pretty. Mid meal i was on resy looking for the next open lunch table. So there' a little backstory to my experience at Clinton St. for brunch: It was after my first night in NYC, where my dear friends decided that marinating my liver in vodka was a splendid idea for my east coast initiation...sooooo I was extremely hungover. The end! My sister and I were the first ones to get to Clinton St., so we were seated promptly by the window, which allowed us to point and laugh at the less fortunate who hit the brunch rush (totally kidding...but we were thinking it). I ordered the Brioche French Toast (caramelized bananas, maple butter, walnuts) and my sister settled for the Spanish Scramble (chorizo, cheese, the usual etc). I wasn't a fan of the French Toast only because the maple butter tasted like orange liqueur--I even had my sober sister attest to this awkward flavor combo. So it wasn't because I wanted to hurl the contents of my stomach out...I swear! The scramble was uninspiring, but good god, the potatoes were a little buttery fluff of heaven that God shat out of his delicate ass; they seriously got 'em potatoes down to a tee. In short, it was nothing out of this world, but the basics were executed well. I've been to the Cliton Baking Company, a couple of times. Once around dinner time, and then around 11am.. There was no wait during the evening hours. Ofcourse there was a wait around 11am. The host said, 1.5 hours "maby even more"...... So, I took the advice of the others and got it to go.. They pack the food up really well... They have their own shopping bags. All together, I got three different items. The French Toast, The Eggwhite omlet, (mushrooms, goat chese) and The blueberry pancakes (ofcourse). I'm not a big fan of French Toast, but it looked really gr8 (I think some1 else postd a pic).... The eggwhite omlet was really good... Fluffy. I was thinking maby, I shouldve asked for additional veggies.. But it was good as is.. The only thing, I thought it had 2 much cheese. (but that's just my preference, I like a very small amount of cheese, and it wasn't overkill, just a tad much 4 me). Now for the blueberry pancakes... CSB is known for their pancakes. They have featured reviews in the restroom. They are that good. I've never had any pancakes that compare. I've had soo many pancakes from diners, and IHOP. I ordered the blueberry pancakes and Latke Eggs Benedict, and there were some highlights to my meal. The blueberry pancakes were the perfect texture, with steaming hot, fluffy pancakes that had a soft middle and crispy edges. However, I did find that they could use a tad more flavor and sweetness, as they weren't very sweet aside from the blueberries.
