3G Catering Services
It is time to speak out about the horrendous experience we had with our Wedding caterer 3G Catering…read morefrom Perth but especially with George Urquhart. 3G Catering Services UK This caterer knew the wedding venue and number of guests over a year in advance. They were the only utter disappointment on an amazing day. We were, and always are so organised with everything. We were thanked by his secretary Emma for being "so organised". Every table number, every guest, every meal choice was listed on a spread sheet and sent to 3G way in advance. On the day....there was around 6 members of catering staff for 143 guests. His excuse afterwards: "a car full of my catering staff broke down on route to the venue". This still wouldn't have been enough staff and "The kitchen was too small". We sent videos before the wedding of the kitchen which they had also visited the day before, so space on the day wasn't a surprise. They had over a year to check the venue. Guests at every single table got wrong, cold, dry, sparse and extremely late food. 3 guests at the top table weren't served their main course until we had finished dessert. We had to do our speeches during dinner due to the length of time the food was taking. When my wife's Aunt went into the kitchen to see what was going on, George himself stated "what do you expect me to do. I only have two hands". Every single table had complaints. His staff were dancing around with my guests while tables still had no meals. Barely anyone got coffee and tea and had to request this numerous times until they gave up. It was utterly embarrassing. The worst of all, when the mother of the bride addressed this afterwards to a waiter at the top table he stated "And who are you?". I cannot explain how disgusting and ignorant George has been since, whilst dealing with my complaint. Initially he was in agreement and apologised about all of the shortfalls in his service. He said he would get back to us about how he "could make things right". This sympathetic facade quickly changed when he offered a free family meal for all the trouble caused. We clearly refused this, why would we want anymore of his catering? He then counter offered with £300 refund. When we refused this embarrassment his attitude completely changed. He became irate and angry, raising his voice stating "what is it you want from me?!". We paid £7368 for an unorganised, failed and unprofessional service. It was a shambles. He hung up the phone on us but quickly called back offering a £1250 refund, stating "this could send me under". We agreed that if we received this partial refund that we would not leave public feedback and that this agreement would go through our solicitors. This was months ago. Our Wedding was July 2023. Our Solicitor contacted him on 5 different occasions on different emails and 3Gs main email which he had responded to us on previously. He had time frame to respond. There was never any response. We called him today (13/4) and spoke to him directly stating that we no longer wished for the refund as he hadn't responded to our solicitor or the timeframe and that we were going ahead with our feedback. He hung up the phone on us and has taken down the ability to leave feedback on their Facebook page due to ours and historical poor feedback. Turns out not only is he not only someone who would ruin your wedding but please Google his name, from Perth

They seem to be competing a bit with Bread and Olives, who also do catering, and it was interesting to see the prices pretty much match up exactly. The soup was Thai Chilli which I later found out was the speciality, and it was delicious with just the right amount of heat in it to be enjoyable! The sandwiches and baguettes were assorted but I enjoyed all of them, especially the chicken tikka. Delicious, and very reasonably priced if you need to have sandwiches made to order.

The venue itself is gorgeous, it really epitomises all the Georgian glamour of the New Town with the opulent décor and grand high ceilings. The drinks prices at the cash bar were a bit excessive though, although I suppose it's only to be expected oin a nice hotel. And I guess you do have to treat yourself every once in a while!
