I have a regulator clock that was gifted to my parents around 40 years ago. My mom has wound it regularly every week for those 40 years. Then one day the spring sprung. It would only go two turns and spring back. Clocks like this don't work well when you can't wind them. So I brought it back from her to try and get it repaired. I went to one shop on Main Street in the Arts District. Nice shop and friendly owner but the price was way higher than we really wanted to pay. So I found Clocks and Locks and took it in for a quote. I was asked to leave the clock and was asked to call on Monday for the quote. Whoops, I forgot to call until Thursday almost a week later. No matter. I called and gave them my name and ticket number. I was given a quote of about half as much as the first place I tried. It was still a lot of money but much better. I agreed to the price and was told it would be about a two week job. This included taking the clock apart, cleaning the gears, replacing the bad spring, replacing the key hole cylinder that had become warped over the years from hundreds of windings. Then putting it all back together. I called a couple of weeks later to find out that my clock was now ready. When I picked it up, the owner advise me that I should have it serviced at least every 2 years to keep it working. If I do, great. I'll keep on top of it. If not then hopefully I can get another 40 years out of it. By then I should be too old to care. read more

I inherited a Black Forest cuckoo clock from my folks after they passed. They bought it in Germany from the craftsman who builds them. Anyway it stopped working properly so I tried fixing it myself. Tip: sometimes YouTube how-to videos don't work!! I took it here and he knew exactly what was wrong with it. Needed several adjustments as well as a new music box. Told me it'll take a month or so. Just picked it up today and not only is it working beautifully, he cleaned up the outside and it runs like new now. I highly recommend this place over say M and I (who told me they'd have to ship it back to Germany for repairs!!) if you happen to need any type of expensive rare clocks fixed. Couldn't be happier, and the price he quoted me didn't change. (I.e. no hidden fees) Now my heirloom is back and I can remember my parents every time it cuckoos. Highly recommend this business - meticulous, free estimates, and experienced. I took my grandfather clock in for repair - he said it would take a couple of days to check it out and see if parts were available. I called back - parts were available and repair was possible. There was no need to return to the shop to give a deposit - I gave approval to repair over the phone with no deposit. The estimate was fair considering the amount of moving parts in a grandfather clock and age - mechanical parts do wear out with age. If you need clock repair "Clocks Locks" is the right place for repair or just a maintenance & cleaning. BTW - after 15 moves in and out of the country - I had the three weights in the wrong order and now they hang properly thanks to "Clocks Locks". Bad, Bad Business manners, in my opinion . Would never do business with them . On Nov. 6, 2025, spoke over the phone and was told they offer a FREE estimate within 24 hrs. So, went to the shop with my broken clock. Said I would return the next day to get an estimate and if too high repair cost , would pick up my clock. We brought our family Cuckoo clock in to be repaired. They quoted $105 to repair it. It's very special to us but hasn't worked since our father passed away 27 years ago. It's kinda hung on the wall, as a reminder of hundreds of times he lifted a grandchild to see the Cuckoo sing. Not only did they fix the clock for the quoted price, but they cleaned it up to look good as new! We happened to bring in a music box just to ask if they knew anyone who could fix it. When i needed a older cuckoo clock repaired, i was not optimistic about finding a shop nearby. I was surprised to find Terry, and he was right down the street! What i didn't know at the time was that Terry does nice work at a fair price, follows up on his commitments, and completes the job on time. These are all things that we should see every day, but sadly, we don't. This is what makes it such a pleasant experience when you do find a shop like Terry's. I emailed asking if we could get an estimate for repairs and if we would need to bring the clock to the store or if they would come to my house. I received a rude email saying they were not going to anyone's home. They didn't answer my question about an estimate. I responded asking if we could bring my grandfather clock into the store and received another rude response saying clocks needed to be adjusted where they sit. Great service, they do excellent work on clocks. My bf got a cuckoo clock from his grandmother just before she passed, and it needed some maintenance. Their price for fixing the entire thing was under 50 dollars. -1 star for odd/poor hours. Being closed on a weekday in the middle of the week? Not so cool. If I could give 0 stars I would. Placed a service call for an in home repair of a grandfather clock. Had to wait a month for the appointment. Took the day off work to wait for the guy to come do the repair. The appointment time came and went. No phone call or contact what so ever and he never showed up. I have gone to Terry at Clocks and Locks for at least 20 years; he is incredible when it comes to fixing clocks. I now live in Virginia, have a coo coo clock that I've had for close to 35 years. Took it to a "repair shop" in Va and was charged $150 for nothing. In fact, they destroyed several internal components in my clock. Flew out here, with coo coo clock in hand, (wish I were kidding) and have left with Terry. He is the ONLY one I trust to work on my clocks. He is incredible. Honest. Quiet. Efficient.
