I was sad to find they are allowing one of their vendors to sell a framed reproduction photograph of a KKK March from the 1920s. I understand when dealers are selling actual historic artifacts (I still think it's weird to profit off of racist histories, but I understand there are complex perspectives about archival value). This was not that - the back of the photograph showed that it was printed last year at Walmart, but it was being sold as a framed photo. It felt celebratory and exploitative, not historical or educational. When I asked the owners why they allowed that, they said it is illegal to prevent the dealer from selling the photo, and that it is "free speech." This is not true - antique malls are legally allowed to have guidelines that dictate what can be sold. I think it is incredibly distasteful and unethical that the owners are choosing to profit off of images of such a violent, disgusting organization. I sadly won't return, and I hope the owners will take accountability for their decisions.
