The worst customer service experience I've had in years. I went there on a Friday afternoon, found a ring I liked and left my ring so the diamond could be transferred to the new ring. I was told I would receive a call on Monday. The following Friday I had to call them, only after that did I receive a call back. We decided not to get the new ring, so I returned to pick up my ring. I was then told they couldn't find it! Eventually, it was found and returned to me. After I picked up my ring there was zero effort at making an apology for any inconvenience! read more

I got some jewelry from my great aunt and I had a bent ring that I needed to get fixed. They cleaned and fixed the band in a few minutes while I looked around. The staff was super friendly, quick service, and I saw some beautiful pieces of jewelry while I was looking around...I might need to come back soon for my Christmas shopping! read more

I work almost the entire week, so my time is very limited. I went there on the very last minute before Valentines Day, I was kind of desperate to find the perfect gift to my hubby and at the same time, safe some money for my daughter's gift. Then I saw the offer that if I spend $99 or more in-store they will give me chocolates, a flower bouquet and a gift card to my favorite restaurant. That was a very good deal! They have prices to all budget, I was relieved! It was definitely godsend for me to stop there after work. Will definitely buy from them again in the future. read more

Years ago, I bought a modest engagement ring. I was just out of college and had limited funds. I brought a few pieces of jewelry that my mother gave me to trade. They gave little in return (I've since found out I could have gotten much more), but I trusted that their offer was fair. I accepted the trade and spent an additional 1500 on the ring. It was a diamond solitaire in a white gold setting. Long story short, the engagement ended (badly) after about a year. I returned to Clodius, hoping to sell the ring back to them. I'd already been prepped to accept much less than I'd paid for the ring, but I wanted to get rid of it quickly. I figured Clodius would at least make a fair offer, since I'd purchased the ring from them. The lady that helped me was nice enough, and before she went to the back to get a value on the ring, she encouraged me to sell it myself. Because there were a lot of bad memories tied up in that ring, I didn't want to hold onto it. According to what I read online, I expected somewhere between 30 and 40 percent. I know that's not much of a return, but it was worth getting rid of it. Besides, it is a very humiliating experience returning an engagement ring. So there I was, bracing myself for maybe 500 dollars, when the salesperson returns with my offer: 150 dollars cash, 300 dollars store credit! Let me remind you that this was a diamond solitaire. Most of the value in the ring came from the diamond. Even if they scrapped the setting for the gold and sold the diamond, they would have been able to easily sell the diamond. Needless to say, I declined the offer. Ultimately, I felt that I had fair expectations for what to expect, and they made a very humiliating experience even worse. I won't claim to understand the ins and outs of the jewelry business, but from my point of view, they were taking advantage of my misfortune. They made money off my mother's traded jewelry, they made money off of my purchase of the ring, and with an offer of 150 dollars, they were looking to make money off of me at a very low point. One more thing to note. I'm now in the market for a ring again for a wonderful woman. And while return policies and trade value won't factor into my decision, I can tell you that I won't be returning here, which is a shame for Clodius, now that I've settled into a career and have a much larger budget than I did out of college. read more

Just before Christmas, my mother wanted a special necklace. She told me it was only available at Clodius & Co. Unfortunately, due to my own ineptness, I accidently deleted the e-mail she referenced with the picture of the necklace and the name of it. I didn't realize that until AFTER I had entered the store. The staff there, even though it was a busy holiday shopping day took the time to help me, even after I spent 30 minutes searching to find the e-mail, multiple phone calls, and trying to resurrect an old electronic device I thought MIGHT have a copy of the message saved to it. Thanks to their patience I was able to get the necklace she wanted. I'd go back just because of the way they treated me. read more

My grandmother is a repeat customer at Clodius & Co but after her experience today (8/15) she will no longer patronize this business. An employee Brian belittled her based on race and socioeconomic status. My grandmother wanted a necklace shortened and when she inquired with Brian, he said why would you want to have a this CHEAP $25 dollar necklace shortened. Then tried to back peddle when she showed him the price tag and specifications of her piece. I tried to call and speak with someone at Clodius & Co to resolve the situation and once again I was connected with Brian who tried to downplay the situation and she just perceived the situation the wrong way. Last time I checked your an employee, you should be trying to bring in business regardless of how "cheap" someone's item is. IF YOUR A PERSON OF COLOR STAY AWAY, THIS IS NO LONGER A FRIENDLY SPACE! read more

An absolutely wonderful jewelry store. Whether or not this sounds staged, I've got nothing but good things to say about Clodius. I purchased a custom designed engagement ring back in May and the entire process was a pleasure. I'm a little more of a detail oriented person and I consider myself relatively creative. I wanted to surprise my now fiance with a custom designed ring that incorporated all the styles I knew she'd like. I went in and met with Tim with a Pinterest board and a few photos on my phone. I laid out what I wanted to do, I laid out the aspects of each ring I liked and didn't, and said I need your help to make the vision in my mind into a more cohesive and artistic reality. He worked with me very closely and let me be exactly as involved in the design process as I wanted and added his flair, style, and knowledge to my rough idea turn that ring into a beautiful work of art. The people at Clodius noticed my seriousness and my passion to get this right while also giving me the freedom to work through the decision making process on my own time. Basically, they gave me just enough so I was sure I wanted to work with them (commit to a large purchase) without pressuring me into an upfront payment before anything happened. They took their time explaining diamonds to me and patiently helped me as I picked out the one I felt was just right. For reference, I went to the big stores in the mall. Not one of them came close to Clodius in passion, knowledge, personal relationship, or even price (diamond quality and size in a custom band). Service was good while I was in the store. We sized my ring and I purchased. Come wedding day, the ring was a size an a half too big. It was a tungsten carbide ring which now I know cannot be cut and sized. I called and asked if there was anyway possible to get this sized. The sales person that sold me the ring stated yes. I brought it in and received my ring back shortly after. Come to find out it was completely a different ring. Problem is I wanted my ring that I was married with. I called back to try to get my ring back and hear my options. They agreed to give my old ring back. I followed up about a week later, they stated they were working on it. Never heard back from them again. This has been about 10 months now. read more

I became aware of Clodius & Co. in autumn of 2012 as they had a contest in the community - a kind of scavenger hunt for rocks that you could turn in for prizes. Once I became aware of them, I visited their store on several occasions to visit for a very nice open house, to shop for loved ones, and to get myself a little something shiny. (To be honest, I wasn't particularly interested in jewelry for myself until I saw their wide selection of beads for bracelets...) I actually received a duplicate item for my birthday, and because I still had my receipt, an exchange was very simple. The staff members remembered me from my previous visit and asked how I was enjoying the items I'd purchased for myself. Always very friendly and attentive, and they put a lot of effort into the scavenger hunt as well (which made my family more aware of some of the pretty parks in the area, by the way!). Blown away with the service that I received here a few months ago. I had gone in blind looking for an engagement ring for my now fiance and was helped right away by Cathy. She took the time to school me on the styles of rings, cut/clarity of diamonds, etc. After picking out the ring, which I then got customized to fit the center stone I picked, she was gracious enough to thoroughly explain warranty policy, insurance, and financing. When I got the ring it was way more than I was expecting. They did a great job --I've never been so comfortable spending so much money. I will definitely recommend everyone I know shopping for jewelry to go to Clodius & Co. However... something needs to be done about those cheesy radio commercials!! read more

Easy location to get to and efficient parking. Went in to Clodius today to look at diamonds rings for my girl friend. The knowledge of the salesperson was not the best. I was told by a friend that the selection was great but I wasn't that impressed. I will say there was plenty of items that were in my price range but really just couldn't find the design I was looking for. They did say they could custom make a piece for me but my time schedule would allow for it. I did see some examples and I must admit there were some cool ones. I would not suggest if your looking for higher quality diamond though. read more

Good people of Rockford beware of these crooks... I brought a diamond in there to sell and was offered $1600.00 from another store and they offered my $400.00. I come from a Jewelers family and had an appraisal as well. It was not only an insult but I bet they are getting away with this from others. It pays to drive closer to the Chicago area in order to get a fair price. It disturbs me to see people ripping others off and taking advantage of them. SELLERS BEWARE !!! read more

I brought in my wedding set to have two stones replaced and my prongs on my big diamond fixed.When I received my ring it was oval shaped and the stones were not replaced nicely at all.So I took it back a couple days later and spoke with Ericka which was amazing.She looked at my ring and she could see what was wrong with it before I could even say anything.She told me that she was sorry it was even giving back to me looking like it did.She then went over to show the manager and he stated sometimes a smaller stone will get put in if they our out of stock.We were shocked that he would even say that to a customer.Ericka then started they would fix it for no extra charge which I was not going to pay anymore then I already did.They gave me a instore credit for the inconvenience like that was gunna make up for them jacking my ring up.I told them to take as much time as they needed to get it right and it took around a month to get back and I'm still not 100% happy but now I dont trust them.... read more

This place is as good as it gets. Their customer service is impeccable and they are reasonably priced in my opinion. I have been there now on several occasions and always leave extremely pleased. I feel comfortable shopping here as the sales reps actually listen to me when I tell them what I am looking for, the help me find the perfect gift for my wife and they don't push you to exceed your budget or add on sales. My wife has not had one single incident with her jewelry, I feel it's great quality. On Valentines day they sold me the perfect necklace for my wife and at no charge they threw in chocolates, flowers and a Lino's gift certificate. Talk about exceeding my expectations. Stupidly we bought our wedding rings from JB Robinson and have had nothing but troubles. 2 diamonds fell out of my wife's engagement ring and 1 diamond fell out of my wedding ring after only 1 month of wearing it. JB went out of business and they transferred me to Kay Jewelers, which charged me nearly $300 to fix my 1 month old ring, additionally the customer service at Kay was sub-par. I will only shop Clodius from here on out, there is certainly no place better in the Rockford area. read more
