Called ahead to check if they sold to normal people or if you had to be trade only but anyone can come in. Vaguely described what I needed for my project over the phone with someone and he went and checked, found what he thought I could use and then gave me the correct vocabulary to describe it again when I went in. HELPFUL! They have taken over a few different shops on the road but when I went into one and asked for wire the man led me to the right section/department. Once inside I described what I needed and he gave me a few different options and let me test the wire's flexibility before I purchased. It was as cheap as I was finding it at other places and exactly what I needed. Very happy experience here. Thumbs up.

I finally had a chance to visit the newest lululemon store located in super swanky Chelsea…read more I have been wearing lululemon for over 10 years now, and being from the states I've shopped at nearly 12 of their stores all across America. It is so nice to see this brand finally make its way to London. There are now two flagship stores in London, the other being in Covent Garden. There is also a showroom (pop-up shop) located in Richmond. The Marylebone showroom recently closed and will be reopening as a permanent store with a larger assortment in the near future. The Chelsea lululemon has the largest assortment of all the lululemon stores I've ever visited. It will be difficult to leave this store empty handed! Note that there are new styles delivered every week. lululemon carries both women's and men's sportswear/lifestyle yoga inspired apparel and accessories. Like all lululemon stores, there's a strong sense of community. They offer a complimentary 1 hour yoga class every Sunday at 10:30am, but space is limited so I suggest you show up early to guarantee a mat! They also have a run club every Saturday morning at 9am that leaves from the store. Although pricey, lululemon sells quality, smartly designed clothing that makes you look good and feel good. They encourage everyone to "sweat once a day" and are all about setting goals for oneself in order to succeed and live a fulfilling life.

Once you wander into the basement, the shop opens up into an impressive space housing the latest clothing trends for men and women - from the likes of LRG, Iron Fist and Akademiks. The Designer Warehouse is one of my favourite London discoveries…read more Not far from my home, and just off Seven Sisters road is a monthly sale for designer clothes - having heard from it from a colleague, I didn't really know what to expect. It was great and would definitely recommend giving it a visit. When getting to the warehouse, you have to leave your bag and coat (including your phone) in a cloakroom, and may a small fee of £3 (or 2?) to be able to get in. The sale is over 2 floors, and organised by designers - some are really well known, some are smaller names I've never heard of. It's not a posh environment, it's just rows and rows of clothes on hangers - and you have to take the time to go through them to find the gems, and also your size. There aren't any changing rooms, but there is an area where you can go and try them on at the back of the venue - it's closed off to men, but you do have to accept getting changed in front of other women. I am myself a massive fan of Vivienne Westood, and this was also the opportunity for me to try on a few pieces of her clothes - and yes, I did cave in and buy a top (1/3 of the original price) and a scarf. Good to know: they separate their sales between womanswear and menswear - their schedule is updated on their website.
One of my very best friends is getting married next year, so she is on the hunt for 'the dress'…read more She booked in to here on recommendation from some other friends. The shop itself is small which means although we were the only clients in the shop behind the curtain. There was no where for my friend to get changed. It was standing in your pants in front of me and the lovely assistant. Most people would be fine about that, but I felt it was a little unnecessary and should have been factored in to the shop design. Which is why they have lost a star. However plenty of good points. First off, service was brilliant. We were the only clients and we had the assistants full attention. There was a nice selection of dresses at reasonable prices. If you are after spending the equivalent of a small car on a dress this is not the shop for you. Everything was under £1500. Most were around the £700 area. They also had a brilliant selection of off the peg dresses, if you are an average size, that you could take away that day. They were understanding that my friend would want to show other people the selection of dresses that she liked, so they let her take pictures. So many shops don't allow that which is beyond stupid. They also didn't make her stand on a box, I had to go through that when I got married, just wear heels. They have a seamstress who is available for consultation at the shop. You do have to pay her separately, but seeing her in the same place is a great help. My friend really enjoyed the experience and felt at ease in the store (apart from the lack of changing room) she will be returning for a second try on with me and her mum in the next few weeks.

They even let us take photos so I could remember which ones I liked - unlike so many of the snooty, stuck-up shops who think you want to rob their designs, rather than to help you make your decision. The staff were young, friendly, fun and went out of their way to be helpful and make it an enjoyable experience - usually I hate clothes shopping, so they had their work cut out! Spacious, well lit, clean and tidy, with polite and friendly sales staff (apart from one recent addition, who really needs to learn that no thanks, I'm just looking means I've come in here to look in peace and quiet, don't keep pestering me), this is possibly one of my favourite shops in the complex. I'm a particular fan of the recent season jewel bright wool jackets (which for their quality are exceptionally good value), and the perennial Hobbs suede ballerina pumps, available in a wide range of colours. I can't help feeling that the Hobbs store would be better placed on the posh side (i.e. Jubilee Place), but their ability to stock a good capsule range of the current collection means that you might prefer to whizz out to Canary Wharf rather than into town.
