I hate to not give so good review to this restaurant as the concept behind the restaurant is awesome and it's 100% vegan restaurant- though we found the food too experimental for our taste and lacking taste (perhaps we are spoilt with spicy food we eat) We ordered couple of dishes and drink and food was ok taste wise. Not so great - though thumbs up for Visionara Ceviche and Kiin drink. Service is good. Decor is excellent- pretty creative and nicely done. The entire roof is covered with dry leaves. All and all, a good place to sit and enjoy an afternoon- though the taste buds would need some adjustment as the food tastes different and is bit bland- though all vegan lovers should try this place. The food is really good and fresh. The breakfast enchiladas sold all day is amazing. This is my favorite dish here and have had it several times. I've also had the Clorofila sushi. It's good and fresh and filling. It's not the best dish but it is really healthy and if you're wanting nice fresh vegetables, this definitely hits the spot. Vegan pizza-- I don't know. There's another place that has vegan pizza that is just much better. The vegan pizza crust was thick and the pizza itself needed salt and more spice (I got the one with jalapeños). It was a big nice size though. My friend during one visit ordered the pesto pasta. She said it was good but she's not vegan and she said she wanted the real thing. So maybe it's good for vegan pasta but it wasn't just her thing. Not sure. The juices here are really yummy and you can make your own as well. They don't offer a straw to be environmentally friendly but can bring you one if you ask. read more

We went to 5-6 different vegan and vegetarian restaurants in Playa del Carmen and this was our favorite! We loved the sushi, the juices, and the beet burger. Zucchini spaghetti was good too! But the sushi was the highlight. The chocolate mouse was really good. Service was great. I love this place. Its not perfect but the prices are mostly fair and the produce they use is so fresh and tasty. They even have sunflower sprouts! The pizzas are great. The guacamole is some of the best I've ever had with some actual seasoning and flavor. The pastor and pipian tacos are delicious. The sandwiches (first you choose the sandwich and then the "meat") are very very good! The kimchi is actually more of a purple cabbage sourkrout and is delicious! The mushroom pate spread was excellent too. Its not perfect though. The smoothies could be better, they taste mostly just of ice, not much fruit flavor comes through for whatever reason. The mushroom ceviches should be smaller and lower priced. They need to offer some vegan hard cheeses in addition to their soft cheeses. But really, thats just nitpicking. The food here is truly excellent for vegans or just fans of healthy eating! read more

Such a pleasant experience here and our waiter was amazing!! Got smoothies, pizzas (gluten free & vegan! So delicious), their dip plate, and some fully stomachs! Just a recommendation to management in terms of the translation of items from Spanish to English, many of the dishes are abstract (which is very good) but it's difficult to imagine what the food is going to look like or taste like for a lot of the items. By adding descriptive words like homemade gluten free cauliflower pizza crust topped with (ingredients). Or sushi wrapped in organic seaweed and brown rice stuffed with carrots and cauliflower and topped with avocado and our special sauce. Do yourself a favor and eat six days worth of Mexican street food before coming here and you'll appreciate Clorofila much, much more. The toll that my tourist body took with every greasy (but delicious) bite sent me into a frenzy to find some greens, and by the grace of some god, somewhere, Clorofila happened to be placed at the doorstep of my hotel in Playa Del Carmen. Someone called the staff "goddesses." I don't disagree and actually had the opportunity to chat with the manager a few nights prior when my buddy dipped in for a complementary shot of kombucha with a Yelp check-in offer. She was sweet and stated that her boyfriend owned the place. I'm guessing that he was the guy shooting glares across the restaurant on both of my visits and in my opinion he was the only fault of Clorofila as his lack of enthusiasm for life falls heavy on the room. Anyhow, my buddy didn't buy anything, (jerk), so I almost felt that it was my obligation to return and spend some money. My sandwich was delicious though the name escapes me. Just look for the one with an olive spread, tomatoes, avocado and lettuce. It sounds basic, it is basic, and it's 100% worth ordering. The bread is fantastic and it holds together really well with each and every bite. Well done, bitter creator. My big ol' honkin' glass of green juice was also on point and I could feel the life return to my body with every sip. It just tasted so damn healthy! Once again, job well done, Mr Salty Pants. The kicker? A meal like this would crush your wallet in the U.S.A., but only sets up back about $9.00 including tip in PDC. If eating healthy was priced like this at home I'd have a difficult time arguing a vegan lifestyle, so thank the green lord above that eating clean is so expensively hip. read more

If you appreciate only the freshest, purest ingredients prepared and presented in the most thoughtful way, this is the place for you. While we aren't vegan, this place sounded interesting so we gave it a try and ended up coming back 3 more times while in PDC. We sampled almost everything including juices, the dips, portobello and beet burger, pizzas, sushi, tacos, and desserts and EVERYTHING was a nice surprise with incredible flavor and freshness. Instead of relying on salt and prepackaged ingredients, the combination of flavors came alive with natural spices, seasonings, and thoughtfully curated ingredients - again, the freshness was like they stepped outside to the garden that very morning. The staff was also attentive and pleasant. I'll miss this place and think of it often. read more

All organic and vegan friendly, I had the French toast which I fell in love with and a pizza and I was in love. Please bear in mind that I'm not a vegetarian or vegan for that matter. I just love great food and this little place in the heart of playa del Carmen a few blocks east of Walmart close to the junction opposite mega super market is on my list of regular places to go. Playa del Carmen has no shortage of restaurants, mostly Mexican. Sometimes you just need a break from tacos and seafood. After several weeks in Mexico, I realized I hadn't had any fresh vegetables in a pretty long time....well, actually since I came to Mexico. Looked on Yelp and headed over to Clorofila. Great, healthy, break from my usual travel diet which always consists of whatever the locals are eating. Their salads a wonderful as are their drinks. And if you are worried about your waistline, don't buy any of their bakery goods. They are too delicious and disappear all too quickly. read more

Service was awesome, friendly, and genuinely excited about their food. They also have a super cute store attached to the restaurant where they're selling their house made items: kombucha, fresh baked bread, coconut yogurt, and vegan cheese. They grow the sprouts and some of the other veggies used in the restaurant and they're for sale in the store too. Great food when you want a break from traditional Mexican fare! The hot cakes with homemade Nutella and agave honey were great (they are so dense, you only need to order 2, not 3). I had the Spesion (sp?) sandwich with side salad, which was also great! Super dense bread, great vegan cheese, super fresh avocado. The dressing on the side salad was AMAZING. We ate at Clorifila a few times during each visit and every time the food was consistently delicious and the service was outstanding. They do prepare and serve their food with love and want their customers to enjoy their experience. I was impressed by all the fresh sprouts and micro-greens used in their dishes. We have a big family with 4 children and they all ate every bit of food served. We sampled practically everything on the menu. Unexpected-- Was totally blown away by this place. Stopped on way to the Cancún airport from Tulum. They gave us food to take away and eat in the car. Excellent plant based food. My husband and I decided to try this place for a late lunch based on a recommendation. The staff was very friendly, the food was delicious and large portions. I had a burger with a chickpea patty and my husband had a sandwich with the same patty. The rainbow potatoes also include beets which were so yum. I should also mention, we are not vegetarians. I was very excited to eat at Clorofila when I visited Playa del Carmen. The place was easy to find, the staff was very friendly and the place decor was organic and open. The food presentation was incredible, a feast for the eyes. The prices were a little high for Mexico standards considering that produce in Mexico is fairly inexpensive but all ingredients were organic and very fresh. I would say the food looked better than it tasted. Most of the dishes we ordered were quite bland. I wish the taste would matched the look. Also I was disappointed with the chips, they were so hard that it was so hard to chew and I cut the roof of my mouth trying to eat them. I am giving the place a 4 star for quality, food presentation, health, for being vegan and for friendly staff but for flavor I would probably give it a 2 star. read more

Amazing!! After eating a lot of chips and beans while in Cancun, we were ecstatic to find a vegan restaurant with such good, healthy options. All the food was fresh and rejuvenating! Our favorites were the lemonade (made with coconut water), the vegan cheese plate (WOW), and the hot cakes (the chocolate dip is just incredible). I was worried this place wouldn't live up to the high reviews, but it exceeded them! Our waiter was friendly and joked around with us. He would get us things before we asked. The only issue I had was that the pizzas took a bit longer than the rest of the food. Other than that, I can't imagine a nicer place. I'll be coming back tomorrow! read more
