We went to 5-6 different vegan and vegetarian restaurants in Playa del Carmen and this was our favorite! We loved the sushi, the juices, and the beet burger. Zucchini spaghetti was good too! But the sushi was the highlight. The chocolate mouse was really good. Service was great. The shop itself is kind of casual and is part sit-down restaurant, part juice bar, part vegan grocery.

Such a pleasant experience here and our waiter was amazing!! Got smoothies, pizzas (gluten free & vegan! So delicious), their dip plate, and some fully stomachs! Just a recommendation to management in terms of the translation of items from Spanish to English, many of the dishes are abstract (which is very good) but it's difficult to imagine what the food is going to look like or taste like for a lot of the items. By adding descriptive words like homemade gluten free cauliflower pizza crust topped with (ingredients). Or sushi wrapped in organic seaweed and brown rice stuffed with carrots and cauliflower and topped with avocado and our special sauce. It helps just the internal visualization process a lot!

Do yourself a favor and eat six days worth of Mexican street food before coming here and you'll appreciate Clorofila much, much more. The toll that my tourist body took with every greasy (but delicious) bite sent me into a frenzy to find some greens, and by the grace of some god, somewhere, Clorofila happened to be placed at the doorstep of my hotel in Playa Del Carmen. Someone called the staff "goddesses." I don't disagree and actually had the opportunity to chat with the manager a few nights prior when my buddy dipped in for a complementary shot of kombucha with a Yelp check-in offer. She was sweet and stated that her boyfriend owned the place. I'm guessing that he was the guy shooting glares across the restaurant on both of my visits and in my opinion he was the only fault of Clorofila as his lack of enthusiasm for life falls heavy on the room. Anyhow, my buddy didn't buy anything, (jerk), so I almost felt that it was my obligation to return and spend some money. My sandwich was delicious though the name escapes me. Just look for the one with an olive spread, tomatoes, avocado and lettuce. It sounds basic, it is basic, and it's 100% worth ordering. The bread is fantastic and it holds together really well with each and every bite. Well done, bitter creator. My big ol' honkin' glass of green juice was also on point and I could feel the life return to my body with every sip. It just tasted so damn healthy! Once again, job well done, Mr Salty Pants. The kicker? A meal like this would crush your wallet in the U.S.A., but only sets up back about $9.00 including tip in PDC. If eating healthy was priced like this at home I'd have a difficult time arguing a vegan lifestyle, so thank the green lord above that eating clean is so expensively hip.

    Al pastor pizza - increíble!

If you appreciate only the freshest, purest ingredients prepared and presented in the most thoughtful way, this is the place for you. While we aren't vegan, this place sounded interesting so we gave it a try and ended up coming back 3 more times while in PDC. We sampled almost everything including juices, the dips, portobello and beet burger, pizzas, sushi, tacos, and desserts and EVERYTHING was a nice surprise with incredible flavor and freshness. Instead of relying on salt and prepackaged ingredients, the combination of flavors came alive with natural spices, seasonings, and thoughtfully curated ingredients - again, the freshness was like they stepped outside to the garden that very morning. The staff was also attentive and pleasant. I'll miss this place and think of it often.

Loved how they displayed their food! It was so pretty and delicious!! I can't wait to visit again and grab some dinner! They also sell lots of healthy items in their shop!

Yummy Mudra spread. Must try! Strawberry n cacao drink without sugar is a bit boring because I still have my sugar addiction.

OMG I love this place. Good, clean, pure food. The two women who work here are GODDESSES!!! Food are not laden with sugar and crap! Organic organic organic. Right across the street is DAC, an organic grocery store. Everything you need is in 30 Ave. without the heavy price tag. The mudra spread is like real pate! The green drinks are healthy n fresh. Here's to your health on vacation!!!

    Great juice selection!

Great juice selection... Clean bathroom... GREAT service!!! Had the hummus and onion sandwich. Solid 7! But I think I'm ordering the tartine next...

ONG! After a few month rating Mexican food I stumble on this place and it's frigging AMAZING!!! All organic and vegan friendly, I had the French toast which I fell in love with and a pizza and I was in love. Please bear in mind that I'm not a vegetarian or vegan for that matter. I just love great food and this little place in the heart of playa del Carmen a few blocks east of Walmart close to the junction opposite mega super market is on my list of regular places to go. Before I forget they do fresh juices and smoothies too!

Came here for breakfast during our stay in playa del Carmen, we were pleasantly greeted by friendly staff. The restaurant offers a large menu with plenty of vegan options for any meal of the day. The food was highly rich in flavors and the freshness of the ingredients was delicious. A must have!

Beet and tamarind hamburguesa with portobello bun!? 5 stars! Note the homemade ketchup :)

It is as delicious as it looks on yelp! The menu is incredible- I can't wait till lunch tomorrow to eat again!

    Beet burger. Must try!

An awesome restaurant in Playa del Carmen. Ate here for dinner and breakfast and both meals wee delicious and on par with vegan restaurants in NYC & LA. Service was awesome, friendly, and genuinely excited about their food. They also have a super cute store attached to the restaurant where they're selling their house made items: kombucha, fresh baked bread, coconut yogurt, and vegan cheese. They grow the sprouts and some of the other veggies used in the restaurant and they're for sale in the store too. They also sell vegan staples like protein powder, nuts, dried figs, etc. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Chia seed smoothie/juice. Clean and mellow-tasting.

Great food when you want a break from traditional Mexican fare! The hot cakes with homemade Nutella and agave honey were great (they are so dense, you only need to order 2, not 3). I had the Spesion (sp?) sandwich with side salad, which was also great! Super dense bread, great vegan cheese, super fresh avocado. The dressing on the side salad was AMAZING. Will definitely be back!

    Nice Friday night dinner!

Great experience last Friday night at this Michinlin Bib restaurant. So glad I stopped by this…read moreplace is bomb and super not pretentious! Wish I got the tasting menu but I opted for 3 of the specialties instead and they were delicious... Tasting menu is best value tho! I got the raw trout sashimi thing and it was by far the best plate of the meal (first dish/appetizer) , then got the shrimp flautas (good not amazing) then I got the trout loin for the entree (good not amazing) Skinny marg was perfect and so was the waitress! Would recommend and go back but like I said I would for sure do with the 6 or 8 course tasting menu!

Okay, where do I start…read more I made a reservation about a month before our trip, they were already pretty booked so I made a 4:45pm. I somehow missed that the coursed meal doesn't start until 6...and we didn't realize until same day. They couldn't rebook us until 9PM but told us to swing by early to see if they could get us in AND THEY DID. It was a Christmas miracle. And I'm glad they did because the whole experience was about 2.5 hours from start to finish. The place isn't very big, but is beautiful inside. They have an awesome bar and and open kitchen so you can see everything. It's a really neat place. We were seated pretty quick once they got the table cleaned, and then were greeted by our waitress. When we told her we were there for the 8 course meal, they switched waiters on us, and then the upselling started. Right off the bat they tried to talk us into a cocktail...when we were doing a pairing with our meal. It took them a little time to get the meal going, and then between courses was a little hit or miss. Sometimes it was free flowing and sometimes it took 10-15 minutes to get our next dish. The food. We were a little nervous we would leave still a little hungry but I assure you, you will not. For ~$100USD each, you get so much food, and a drink with every course. It was fantastic and so worth it. Here were the courses and pairings (that I can remember lol): 1. We started with the dips - a bean dip with cheese sauce and guacamole with crickets. Very classic, very well done. The crickets added a nice, nutty flavor. I was a huge fan of the beans with their blue corn tostadas, so much flavor. They also had a third dip that was pumpkin seed based, it was good but not as memorable. Their hot sauces came out with this course. It was paired with a house mezcal (with salts, cucumber, and orange) that was incredible and smooth. 2. Shrimp ceviche which was super refreshing and flavorful. They paired this with sparkling wine. 3. Sea bass with a cream sauce and grapefruit. I'm not a huge fishy flavor person - my first bite had all three compnents and I thought it was delicious. My husband just had fish as his first bite and thought it a little fishy, but once we added everything else he agreed it was great. Three small pieces, so it was a nice course. Paired with a sauv blanc. 4. Roasted tomatoes in a mole sauce. A nice veggie course. I thought they were cooked well, nothing super fancy. Paired with a Chardonnay. 5. Cooked shrimp with potatoes. My husband called this a "filler" course - there wasn't much to it. The sauce had some greens in it but it was just something light and easy to serve. Can't remember the pairing here. 6. THE CARROTS. MY FAV THING. OMG. Literally so fresh, the perfect texture, and the sauces. I could have eated a whole bowl with this one. Paired it with a red blend. 7. Cow tongue. I forgot a photo. I was starting to get drunk, I'm sorry. Paired with a red wine. This was tender, the sauce was delicious. If you're not used to beef tongue, please don't let it scare you. It was amazing. 8. Dessert. Also amazing. I think it was paired with a sweet red but....a little drunk here...we got a cheesecake which was more on the savory side, super unique, and so delicious. I was a huge fan. We also got a passion fruit custard and I'm a SUCKER for passion fruit. This was phenomenal. The food was INCREDIBLE. And such an amazing experience. And now the loss of a star. I hit on the service a little, but there was also some upselling which we don't love, especially at what is supposed to be michelin recognized. We often try Michelin recognized when we travel and the upselling was unexpected, I undertsand the culture down here, but still. ALSO we LOVED the house mezcal so much we asked for another shot ($280 pesos/shot). When we got the bill, the waiter upcharged to one of the most expensive mezcals on their menu ($520 pesos/shot) and refused to change it. We spent $60 on two shots after paying for our 8-course meal. It honestly was SUCH a dissapointing end to our meal and felt so icky. Be very careful with the service here.

The service is quick, the prices are incredibly reasonable, and the food is consistently delicious. Before your meal even arrives, you're served a plate of fresh radishes, cucumber, and lime wedges, plus a selection of toppings including tomatoes, onions, and both a green and red salsa. Unfortunately this location didn't give us the cactus like the other locations did. The red salsa was my favourite, it paired perfectly with the tacos and had just the right amount of heat and flavour. The standout for me was the al pastor taco. The meat was incredibly flavourful with crispy edges, a smoky char, and the perfect balance of savoury spice and sweet pineapple. It was easily one of the best al pastor tacos I had in Playa del Carmen. I also tried the sirloin taco and the chicken breast plate, both of which were excellent. The portions were generous, everything tasted fresh, and the quality was impressive, especially for the price. El Fogón absolutely lived up to the hype.
