Great concept ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE SERVICE! Girl that waited on us was extremely rude!!! She had no personality and has no concept of what customer service means. She quoted us 45minutes to an hour. We returned to the store after the hour was up and the clothes weren't ready. We sat inside and waited an additional 30 minutes while she watched videos on a customers phone. Today's experience was really disappointing. I decided to drop off clothes in exchange of a discount on the items that I would purchase, the wait on the associate reviewing my clothes were 3 hours long! They had given me an estimate time of 1 hour, but it wasn't so. These girls have absolutely no sense of urgency, they love to chatter in front of customers and don't acknowledge that we are present. They have no retail customers skills. I will not return to this stupid store again. read more

I went into the "Clothes Mentor" while I was visiting from Orange County. First impression given by the sales associates and either the manager or owner was very cold and not customer friendly. One women was quite rude to my daughter in the manor of how she was spoken to, it made my daughter very uncomfortable, like she should have left the store. This was felt also by the friend that accompanied us. I had 4-5 large shopping bags and one large bin, I left the store and was called back within the hour that my inventory was ready for pick up, after being informed by the sales associate that they would probably not be able to look through all the bags today, as it was less than 1.5 hours from closing time. Clothes Mentor took about 5 items, no clothing. The sales associate gave her reasons for passing on everything. That's fine, I understand the concept of "Resale", it's not new to me. "More than 2 years old, some junior items in the mix". Yes partial truth. But everything was less than 2 years old, I had 4-5 items that were Jr's wear. Everything else was from the Loft, Ann Taylor, Talbots, White House, Banana Rep, Bebe, Nordstrom, Chicos, April Cornel, Kate Spade and Coach. Some things had tags from last year and some things I had just purchased last week on final sale that were not returnable on-line. I reviewed the bags upon returning home and nothing was unfolded or touched. It was exactly how I had folded it and placed it, or as it appeared to me. I brought the items back to the OC and placed one third of the items in an upscale consignment shop in Newport Beach and Costa Mesa. So far, I have sold a number of items. No thank you to Clothes Mentor for their rude customer service. The franchise company should look into the owners/mangers and sales associates and how their company is being represented. I thought it was just us, upon entering the store. Maybe we had a upscale air about us or less than that. But upon reading the very large amount of negative "Yelp" reviews, we were not the only patrons that felt discriminated against for whatever the reason. Good Luck to you "Clothes Mentor" on surviving in the desert, where word of mouth and reputation in a small community is vastly important. I lived there for 40 years, I've seen store fronts come and go. Be good to your customers and they'll be good to you! Walked in a few weeks ago with a few items and got an estimate on 3 dresses from banana republic, Ann Taylor loft and New York and company. The girl at the desk was amazing. Wish I could remember her name. Unfortunately, I came in today (4.13.19) with a ton of clothes in a huge box. Instead of being welcomed and greeted a lady by the name of Chris shouted at us and said "We can't take that!" And continued with "Its too big" and "have you ever been here?" That alone should've been my signal to leave. I proceeded to be polite to her. I figured I want to get money for some of my clothes. At this point another employee "Patty" took over and checked us in. She said we could only fill a basket of clothes so we did. This was at 4:25pm. She let us know she would text us when it was ready. I wandered around the shopping center for 30 minutes and decided to come back since it had been a while. I came in and sat on the chairs and "Chris" very annoyed with us asks us what the name of the ticket is. At this point she begins to look through the clothes and very negatively starts telling us that they don't take clothes that's old and a bunch of other stuff. Point is, she seems super unhappy with having to check the clothes. They haven't even checked the clothes because according to her they've been busy. Yet, the store and cash register was empty. I asked if I had to be present for the process to be done but she, again, very annoyed stated that there was a bag ahead of us and had not gotten to ours. That she was doing it now since we're sitting in the store. I ended up walking out with my items after Chris made me an offer for my clothes. After her terrible customer service I didn't feel they should have my clothes. Customer service is a key component to this little store and theirs just sucks. I'll be going elsewhere and definitely never recommending this place. read more

I've been to this store numerous times and usually always walkout with something. I've been pretty lucky in finding some amazing deals. Recently purchased a Chanel bag for a couple hundred in good condition. Staff are personable and now remember me by name when I come In to shop. Love that I can sell stuff I don't use and get more money if I get a store credit. I think it's a win, win :) read more

I don't get it. I took a huge box of great, new or only worn once clothes in and a box of shoes also new or worn once. They only took 4 items of clothing, and they give you nothing for them. I was quite stunned. I had great shoes, dkny, prada, and a custom pair of leather boots I never wore that were very expensive designer and she tells me they were too worn out. I chuckled and smiled and didn't respond. I was thinking, "Seriously?" Obviously, these people have no idea what they're doing. When you look at the "designer" list of clothes they are willing to buy on their web-site, and what's hanging on the racks, I don't call Mossimo, Caribbean Joe, Gap, Old Navy, Forever 21, etc, quality and definitely not designer. The highest quality clothes they had there were Kohl's quality. Not for me. This is a high end town with plenty of consignment shops and thrift stores that have much better stuff hanging on their racks than this place. read more

This place is a joke. They claim to pay 1/3 of the value, not true at all. They only take stuff in strictly BRAND NEW condition. Even though their ad says gently used. And will give you next to nothing for it. The store basically has the same quality goods as Marshalls or Ross. So if you have that kind of stuff then take it in. If you have nice quality stuff, don't even bother because you will laugh when they tell you how much they will give you for it. Huge waste of time. Would give it 0 stars if possible. read more

This store is so fantastic it is truly the only place I shop! Thanks to clothes mentor my closet is full of great quality clothing! I am a huge fan of BCBG MAXAZARIA, Lulu lemon, anthropology now that I can afford them! I never look at BCBG stuff in store because it can be up to hundreds of dollars and now at clothes mentor I can find some dress for as cheap at $18. Also got some super hot Gucci shoes here for $60! I love this store!! Highly recommend it to people who have great taste in clothes and like a great deal!! read more

What an interesting experience .... I wanna start by saying that I almost fell and broke my neck over this awful rug that they have in the front. Awkward. Please fix that. I shopped around and honestly, it was slim pickings. Aggressive middle aged women hovering all around the store not giving me a moment to look at anything. And not a lot of merchandise. But they did have some cute stuff! It seems like they should buy more because the racks and stands seemed very bare. I expected to leave with a handful of bags but left empty handed because I could not find anything in my size. Now to my next part... I was standing in the front looking at handbags and wallets. I overheard a little snippy salesgirl giving an older woman a hard time. Really clothes mentor? Get your act together and be respectful to your patrons. I left immediately. This place is a joke! I took a fairly decent size box in there filled with sweaters, dresses, long and short, capri pants, shoes, purses, slacks and shirts. When I went back the next day, they gave everything back to me. Most of the stuff was from Macy's, Nordstroms, etc. The girl working there was very rude and told me that none of my things fit there store. REALLY? Some of the items they had in there, I wouldn't accept for free!!! They obviously don't know quality when they see it! They need some people working in there who have a sense of fashion,,,, I'll never take anything back to them again. I didn't even want to give one star! read more

Clothes Mentor is hands down my favorite resale store. There are a ton of great designer clothing/ bags. They keep the store clean and very organized. I was reading the other reviews and they have no idea what they are talking about. People gets so angry that they don't want to buy their clothes, get over. I'm sure the employees know more about what's selling in their store than you do. If you think you deserve more for your items then sell it your self. There are a ton of apps, research them instead of taking out your frustrations on the employees. read more

This is NOT a consignment store and you need to understand that. They buy your items outright and therefore are taking a risk as to whether they can sell them or not. With consignment you only make money after your item sells. They do NOT say they give you 1/3 of the price. They say they SELL items at 1/3 of the price and give you 1/3 of that number. For example, your dress cost $90-. If it is in perfect condition and the style is current, they plan to price it at $30- and should offer you $10- per their guidelines. When I took items to sell, I was offered $11.70 for a total of 4 Nike tennis skirts that would retail for $240-. Just didn't seem like it was worth my trip. Everything else was turned down. I know they go by a list of acceptable brands. They just aren't aware that some brands may be more pricey but not on that chart. Ex. Athleta, and Jamie Sadock. It was worth a try but in the future I will continue to donate my items to The Discovery Shop which is staffed by volunteers and the proceeds go to cancer research. The store was organized, clean, and well lit. If I am in the area I might return but only as a shopper. read more

I saw the commercial, decided to clean out my closets and took my clothes down. Unfortunately, you may as well be giving away your clothes to these folks. They quoted ridiculous prices, which were insulting. For my more expensive items, they didn't even seem to know the correct name for certain designers. They have a very pedestrian pallet, especially for designers that they are not familiar with. I took most of my clothes to Angel View and just gave them away rather than sell them to this low-end store. I will never go there again. read more

Was recommended this place from another store that buys clothes (Young adult) I am almost 40 so she was being nice by telling me about this store. Once I told the sales lady she got a bit irritated...stating " I don't know why they do that"?!? She said they only buy certain name brands and they have to be no older than 2-3 years old. Also I had some Men's Clothes too and she stated "they should have told you that at the other store". Also, she wasn't very friendly. I had never heard about this store until about a week ago. My first trip I found 3 pairs of shoes (2 Vince Camuto, 1 Donald Pliner), pair of Nike pants, Ralph Lauren top, hot black dress, 3 necklaces and 2 bracelets (3 were sterling silver) and a really cool copper and coral ring.....all for a grand total after tax under $150! I couldn't believe the great buys I found. Next trip I decided to bring items to sell as well. The staff on both occassions were very nice and even helped me load and unload my car. The store bought a small fraction of what I brought in. Most items were brand new and all were in great shape......I wasn't offended though. I understand it's a business. I oppted for a store credit in lieu of cash since I know I will be back.....was I paid well for my items? No, but how can I expect to find great deals of they pay me more for what they buy? Can't have it both ways. Anyhow, I will be back. Store is neat, clean, and good variety. read more

Customer service is horrible. I am hesitant to write a bad review for anyone because I always try to give the benefit of the doubt. I am reviewing as a shopper and someone who has brought clothes in. They are extremely picky with what they take ( which is understandable, it's a business) but with the selection of the clothing in the store it all seems warn and not in that great of condition. When you walk in the girls seem like its a bother for you to bring in clothing and all the employees look miserable. I will not be shopping of selling clothes here anymore. read more

Clothes Mentor allows that and at reasonable prices - which makes me happy ;) The store has a cool concept where you can sell old designer clothes you no longer use for a fair price. Don't WASTE YOUR TIME TRYING TO SELL YOUR NEW CLOTHES WITH ORIGINAL TAGS STILL ON THEM TO THE CLOTHES MENTOR! VERY RUDE STAFF ! I was online found the Clothes Mentor company watched their great commercial. Designer Slightly used clothes we pay cash for! I took about 100 pieces yesterday , most of them still had the original tags from the store they were purchased from. I'm a man and not that familiar with women's clothing, with the tags still on that have never been worn, Ann Taylor, Saks , Escada , Neiman Marcus , Fred Segal, etc. brand new never worn. The woman at the counter was rude and made me feel like I was bothering her and she told me she didn't have the time to review the items, the trunk of my Carvalho was full , had front row parking right in front of the store, 4 to 5 other employees working , I counted 4 people in the store shopping. So they were not busy and she couldn't walk 20 feet and told me to bring some in not all and she will take a look, set them on the counter she glanced at them touched one item and said these clothes are to old, I said they never have been warn, she said I can tell by the look of the tags that they are older clothes and we don't buy anything that's not designer and is older then 3 years . I was very nice and asked her if she could share some light on how one can tell if a label is more then 3 years old because I have 20 bags of new to slightly used clothes all from a Aunt that died that was a millionaire! Clothes , shoes, handbags were her passion. If you only buy certain designer clothes put which designers you buy! Escada, Saks, Ann Taylor, channel I thought were big women designers! Don't waste your time taking new , slightly used designer clothes to this business because their commercial and web-site are totally mis leading! And The staff VERY RUDE ! read more

Was back at Clothes Mentor Palm Desert today. Walked right in was greeted by the friendly staff and headed to my size pants rack, I immediately saw exactly what I was looking for. They were brand new with tags still on. Unbelievable price, perfect fit also found a cute little camisole to wear with another outfit I had purchased at an earlier date.
