    Fruit cocktail

This is for the Bistro. A top of Prime Tower, a casual spot for a panoramic view of Zürich. We lucked out with a clear shot of the Alps. We had the Caesar salad. The lack of Parmesan cheese was offset by a large portion of chicken and a strip of bacon. The dressing was perfect. The tarte with bacon was crispy flatbread with cubes of tasty lardons, cheese and onions. The cocktails were excellent. There was no rush and service attentive.

My friend recommended this bar for a nice view of Zurich from the top of the Prime Tower. It was quite crowded when we went on a Friday night, but there was a lot of turnover, so we got a place to sit after we ordered at the bar. Despite the jokes about the Prime Tower being the tallest building in Switzerland (which pales in comparison to skyscrapers in L.A. or any other major city), the view IS quite pretty, especially overlooking the train tracks at night. The view from the 35th floor is nothing to scoff at. ;) The drinks menu is quite extensive and almost overwhelming to look at. The drinks are kind of pricey, too. I got the Huckelberry Finn (Raspberry infused rum, blackberries, cranberry juice, lime juice, chestnut syrup), and my friend got the Georgia Mint Julep (Cognac, apricot liqueur, mint, sugar syrup, angostura bitter). Each drink cost CHF 19. I really liked my drink. Sweet and fruity, it came in a huge glass topped with 3 luscious blackberries. The servers were really nice and attentive, and they gave us complimentary spiced mixed nuts with the drinks.

If I hadn't come here with a friend (Simoooon!!!) I would have been wonderfully confused, just because this place is so nice and I would have probably thought I'd need to be some millionaire with a special membership or something. But don't be intimidated! When you first walk in they ask you if you want to leave your coat, and around the corner is the elevator. Everything is chic and pretty! The elevator just has two buttons, which I thought was funny, but I guess that makes it easy right? We got up quickly and you can choose either the cafe/bar or the restaurant. Clouds has a fantastic view. You're higher than anyone else in Zurich! You can see everything on a clear day and it's so entertaining to just sit and watch! The drinks are pricey, but they are everywhere. The chai tee was around 6CHF I think. I'd love to come back here again at night when all the lights are on, it would be beautiful. Alles gut in Clouds weil du alles seihst! Das Gebaude ist am hochsten in ganz Zurich. Die Leute sind gut aber ein bisschien langsam, aber egal, die Sicht ist toll!!!

I found great reviews for this restaurant online. We went there on our first night and were not disappointed. We all ordered different dishes and all were very happy. I had the beef tenderloin and the salad. The salad was a French mustard dressing. It was very mild and great! My sister had a lobster linguini dish and enjoyed it. My father had the rack of lamb. He started the meal with the tomato bisk soup. My mother had scallops. The views of the city are great and the food is equally great. I'd recommend and will go back.

    Dusty seeking decorations.

Unfortunately, it didn't meet my expectations. The only lobster in my order was good, everything else was mediocre. What's surprised me is that in the country, where cleanness is a big thing, in the middle of Zurich spouse to a 5-star restaurant where everything should be spick and span all seeling glass decorations is completely covered with dust, even at the entrance. The menu card was too poor almost nothing to choose from. Lobster bisk was uneatable and I am a fish eater. The chef's complimentary snack was too simple. It was a nice evening with my husband and the view was incredible but it wasn't a perfect dinner. Only prise hit five star restaurant nutch. I am negatively surprised.

I had SO much expectation about this bar. Trendy, classy, offers an AMAZING view... They actually have everything to be nothing but perfection. But what happened? I went there and took a look at the drinks menu and decided to pick the most girly drink I found because I have kind of a fascination regarding how bars attract through presentation. Therefore, "ABSOLUT Shopping Queen" was my choice. I must say I wasn't disappointed in presentation terms, but taste? I really can't talk about food in this review, but I can do so for drinks and I had 2 of them. When they point out a bar at a rooftop and you pay the price of excellence, you are expecting for the whole experience to be perfect. Summary: esthetic, atmosphere, view, presentation -- AWESOME, drink's taste -- you need to work on this guys, you certainly have the potential to become a 5 star bar.

Great views of Zurich and some very attentive service!

Updated: To confirm the consistency of this restaurant, I took a foodie friend to eat here on Monday 24 August. Unfortunately we were made to wait for half an hour despite having a reservation, whilst a fire alarm was ongoing. Despite being told that there was a fire alarm ongoing, all three employees at bag check were misusing some access key to circumvent the people elevator block and were using a freight elevator to send 50-60 people up to the Clouds restaurant and bar. Others who had arrived earlier were made to wait in terrible heat in the bag check area, and directed towards people elevators that were clearly taking a long time to work and seemed to be malfunctioning. The attitude of the bag check ladies was condescending, non-chalent and carefree at all times. The fire alarm was clearly not bothering them. Despite the fire alarm, at no time was Clouds management available, in person or by phone. This restaurant clearly ignores fire regulations and is to be avoided from now onwards. The positive experience the previous evening was absolutely destroyed, this blogger's opinion is that Clouds goes from 5 stars to 1 star for treating their guests like charcoal.

Bartender was friendly although not chatty. Drinks were well prepared. Small tray of nuts, etc to snack on. Nothing in Zurich is cheap but this wasn't eye popping by their standards. The space is so beautiful that it makes you want to capture it in photos to take home. The cocktail list is short but extremely inventive and considered. I'm picky about cocktails and was on a stopover after a two week holiday where I shied away from ordering them because nothing seemed worth ordering in the area I was visiting. This menu was overwhelming, though--so many creative and thought-provoking options that it was hard to choose. We each selected one and it was utterly delicious, making us wish we had time for a second! We weren't sure what to wear and were surprised to see quite a mix, from people dressed in smart casual up to elegant attire. So it's not super prescriptive in that way. Also worth noting--my partner is celiac, so we need strict gluten free food with no cross contamination. At least one of the drinks was elaborate enough (featuring lacto-fermented strawberries) that we thought it was worth double checking with the server about cross-contamination. He took it seriously and advised us confidently (as the other hotel staff had done in our hotel experience with the Widder), and my partner stayed safe. So while we didn't order food, I suspect they would have navigated the issue well.

There's some comments about them not being fond of tourists, but we had no issues. Maybe we're just friendly, idk, they seemed delighted we were enjoying their beer, and I could have sat there all afternoon in the shade. A real gem. They also made it clear the food here, at what for all intensive purposes looks like a dive-bar back in the USA, does not sale "bar food." Apparently, their cook is high-class so don't come looking for fries or pizza (for example today the dish is "curry" which can be made vegetarian friendly). The staff is uppity, rude, and though signs say "international welcome" I certainly do not feel welcome to their over priced, low-self-service, absolutely rude company. If you want to see flash on the walls, have an inflated drink because the river is outside the patio full of cigarette smokers, and feel dehumanized because you're American or "other" (as he made fun of Italians and French when I explained we were there too) then come here. 0% chance I would return.
