He showed me around and took me to my room to settle in. The room was cozy and spotlessly clean. At 1 PM I went to the dining room for lunch, where I met other guests who had arrived a few days before me. Everyone was so welcoming. Lunch was delicious and quite filling. At 2 PM I had my first treatment with Melba. I had chosen the Rest & Relaxation Retreat and I loved every second of my massage, the Nasya and that day I had the steam. I learned the steam, where I was very comfortable, was detoxing me. What a wonderful feeling! That evening I had yoga with Emily. A sweet, beautiful young lady. It was my first time doing yoga and she was so patient, letting me know she wanted me to feel comfortable performing the poses. After the class I felt so accomplished and then it was time for dinner. Again, an amazing meal. I did not feel full but did feel very satisfied. I slept so well that night I missed my yoga class at 8 am. Really wish I hadn't overslept or at least had set the alarm clock. Emily also taught that class. I was able to join her and the other guests for breakfast. My second treatment was with Malati. Like Melba, Malati took her time with my massage. I love the oils and my ability to relax with not a care in the world. This time I chose the warm oil drip. Not kidding! Out of this world! That evening we had our cooking class. Eula was amazing, teaching us every step of making 5 dishes. She explained the process, the herbs and we were lucky they have their own herb garden. We each had a dish to make but we all helped each other. Although we were all strangers, the ambiance promoted comradery and a feeling of being with family. I included a picture of us after we prepared our meal. Did I mention the unlimited tea? Another amazing nights sleep! This is huge for me because I had been having problems sleeping for a couple of months. Don't know if it was due to the food, yoga or my massages but I slept undisturbed and woke up feeling refreshed and energized. That morning I was able to make the yoga class at 8 AM. To my surprise, our instructor was Richard, who founded this retreat in 2001. Richard worked us through meditation, stretches, yoga poses and guided us to chakra meditation. He played guitar and sang to us uplifting melodies that touched my soul. I am so glad I finally took a step towards my well-being. I learned so much about peace and harmony and how to make it a part of my existence. I have been meditating every morning since and my days are filled with affinity I didn't know was in me. I didn't know what to expect or how exactly this week would rejuvenate me but my experience here transcended any expectations one could have. The loving and nurturing environment at the center calms your nervous system and it feels like you're wrapped in a warm hug the entire time you're there. From every interaction with staff members, to each treatment I received, the attendees and conversations - everything felt like it was addressing the needs of my soul and body both. The highlight was the incredibly nourishing and tasty meals - I hadn't known food that is good for your body can also be so yummy. There may be many such "retreat" options, and before arriving here I had thought I'd explore different options the next time. But I am already signed up to return to this center because the more intimate setting feels like you're being taken care of by family, with the sincerest focus on your health and well-being (there is no pressures of up-sells and add-ons, but they are all there if you need it). After returning home, I have been able to continually move towards cooking and enjoying healthier meals -- instead of a temporary diet, I see this now as a way of life. This transformation took place not just for physical health, but the inflections that took place for my personal growth journey have also created a lasting impact. This retreat wasn't a "break" from life but rather a "realignment" in life.

I love, love, love Gainesville Holistic Healthcare! I had a fall back in October that resulted in…read moreseveral scars on my face. One was a dime-sized bump above my upper lip that was itchy, red, sensitive, and ugly. It was so painful that I couldn't even go over it with a washcloth and it stuck out so far that you could see it from the side. My other bad scar area was actually inside my bottom lip. This scar was tight and I didn't have any feeling at all in half of my bottom lip. I went to Gainesville Holistic Healthcare to check out microcurrent point stimulation (MPS). The staff there worked with me to find a routine that worked for me. I ended up going twice a week for 15 minutes each to manage all of my scars. By the end of the first month, the scar above my upper lip was flat, less red, and not painful at all anymore. The scar inside my bottom lip was pretty abnormal, but Traci worked with me to find the best protocol. By November, I finally started to get feeling back in my bottom lip, and the scars didn't feel nearly as tight. I seriously can't express how great this place is. The staff are all nice, welcoming, and extremely accommodating. Face injuries are so personal, and they were just as happy as I was every time I hit a new milestone in my healing. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else for my MPS treatments. By the way - their waiting room is awesome. It's full of paintings, jewelry, and candles by local artists, and most are for sale. They also have an awesome selection of natural remedies and CBD products. 10/10!!

Weina is a HORRIBLE instructor…read more I was initially quite impressed with the reviews, but my was I in for a surprise. Things got off to an interesting start when I watched the instructor ask my colleague her height before adjusting the machine, when it was my turn she just hitched up the machine and moved onto the other side. Throughout the class I watched her treat students with kindness, praise, and support--none of which were extended to me. The nail in the coffin was her telling me I had weak leg muscles and that's why the pilates board slid during the bridge exercise. The comment, while callous, gauche, and unprofessional, could not have been further from the truth. My legs are--shapely and muscular--what many people pursue pilates to obtain. The comment rubbed me wrong way, and I was too unsettled by her disrespect to focus. So I left. As I opened the locked door, she did not ask if everything was okay or anything, she just said she'd refund me my money. Seems as if my exit was the desired result from the beginning. I am writing this review in hopes that you will select a Pilates studio with a centered and professional instructor--not one plagued by the ills of anti blackness and prone to gaslighting to ameliorate her internal shades of jade. Weina used to teach Pilates at Club Pilates in Jax, and I think she still does from time to time. Her goal in her classes is to help her students feel much better in their bodies. She makes modifications to exercises based on your body's range of motion and limitations. She wants you to learn how to do these movements properly and safely, and to strengthen your weaknesses. I initially came here with a stiff lower back and chronic back pain, and now, I'm very proud to say that I feel much more limber. My back doesn't bother me as much as it used to and I have a much stronger core and better posture. Her classes are different every time. She changes the exercises so that there is no boring routine, which makes every class a new and fun experience. She also gets genuinely excited when she sees you improve! I highly recommend checking Weina's studio out and joining a beginner class. Maybe you'll fall in love with Pilates like me.
