Recently taking a position working downtown, I've found an upside in being in the land of food trucks. Coworkers turned me on to the ease of using Clustertruck's online menu a couple weeks ago when we placed a group order. I'd had their food before, at First Friday and other festivals or events, but it was a totally different experience getting to custom-make my food. I had the Pad Thai and was gleeful that I could leave off any ingredients, add extra ingredients, or even add selections not standard to the dish such as changing the protein. It's been awhile since I've ordered from ClusterTruck. It's a very fast and reliable delivery option, and something that my boyfriend and I can always agree on since the menu has a little bit of everything. Something new I've noticed is now their packaging is made from recycled bottles (for the wraps we had, at least) which is great to see. The wraps we had, Buffalo and Ceasars, had fresh ingredients but I feel like it lacked chicken - it had more breading than anything. The queso was classic! Let me preface this with a non-food related opinion first--the concept is great (mostly)! The idea that different style food items can be ordered from one central location is brilliant. The Sidewinder Fries were delicious! It was a nice spin on the traditional approach and they were very tasty. The Sausage and Pepperoni Pizza--I would order this again! It has a different style crust than most places, very thin and crispy. The cookies...I mean...they're cookies! They were delicious! Soft and baked perfectly! Tater tots were okay, nothing special but then again they are just tater tots lol I imagine the loaded tots would be note worthy. The BBQ pork Mac and cheese was okay but I wouldn't order it again. I would try the buffalo Mac and cheese if I ordered again. Unfortunately, the Garlic and Dill Potato Salad was gross. Like, I couldn't even stand the one bite I had! Way too much garlic and way too much onion. But that could just be a bad batch. Overall, I wasn't impressed. It's decent. The saying "some things are too good to be true" is truer than ever in ClusterTruck's case. The biggest appeal of this place was the FREE delivery. It was fast, yummy, and a nice way to get a homecooked-like meal without having to leave your office or downtown Indy area. Now, things have changed. They've changed their structure where you have to spend $10.00 in order to get free delivery. If you don't spend the $10, you're charged $3, plus tip, plus tax. A $9.99 meal now costs you $17+. This directly impacts people that are ordering alone, which sucks cause that's usually how it was for me. Sadly, I see this turning into a way that the delivery drivers/bikers are going to be making less tips cause people aren't going to want to give that high of a tip if they're now being charged $3 for delivery. When is an omelet more than an omelet? When it's a really *really* good omelet. There's a reason why egg challenges are so deceptively hard on cooking shows. It's not so easy to make a consistently good egg dish. ClusterTruck rose to the occasion and then some. I kept eating on the dish long after it was cold (not a knock on the quality; I was doing three things at once while eating it). First off: delivery food trucks are the wave of the future. Yes, I get that the mere concept is obnoxiously first-world. I get it. BUT if this is the world in which we're living, let's go all in. I hadn't had the inclination to order from here but when a breakfast order went a bit sideways, ClusterTruck came to the rescue. Not wanting to make a bigger deal out of things than necessary, I ordered ham, cheese and onion omelet and kept it moving. Not too long after the order (but enough time that it made sense), I had a piping hot, fluffy (!), fragrant, and wonderfully savory omelet in front of me. The onions were green, the cheese was cheddar jack and the ham was local, just salty enough and tasted fantastic (I feel guilty writing that; I am trying to do better about eating pork). Beyond how well the ingredients matched each other, my favorite discovery about this omelet was how light and airy it was. Sometimes omelets (especially with animal protein and cheese) can become dense egg bombs. Not this. Every bite was fluffy, seasoned (salt & pepper are your friend) and delicious. But for me fumbling over a laptop and trying to do all the things, I would have concentrated solely on the breakfast and inhaled every bite. As it was, I acquitted myself decently (if not entirely). Having such high quality food come to me (for a respectable price) was quite the treat and revelation. I'd order again. Like, from our of town, I'd order again. I was impressed. We ordered this last night for this first time. Well, it was the first time for 3 out of the 4 eating from ClusterTruck. I met the delivery driver at the curb (that's their "thing) and he was very friendly. The food looked great! Here's what worked and what didn't.......... The burgers were very good. The queso was good. The tots were good and there were plenty of them. The breakfast burrito was bland. Most of it got thrown away. The hot chicken sandwich was a filler, at best. There was absolutely NO flavor to it at all. When I say NO flavor, that's what I mean. No hint of seasoning, salt, pepper - nothing. The menu said this was a VERY SPICY sandwich. Nope. It wasn't. There was some residual heat after I finished it so I erred on the side of caution with some heartburn medicine, but probably didn't need it. Did I finish the sandwich? Yes, I did. I'm not going to throw away $10 and I'll take the filler over going hungry. Some ketchup and mayo helped. Would I try it again? Eh, maybe. I like the food from "rice & noodles" (I.e. Pad Thai, orange chicken, red curry noodles with shrimps, etc). Portions are generous and great to be shared, but the quality is not always consistent. My friends and I also ordered from ClusterTruck on this July 4th when at the Metazoa Brewing Company's party. My order was suppose to arrive between 8:10-8:20 pm. However, my order arrived a hour late and I was in the car to pick it up myself until a magic delivery guy receive my order. They will not refund my money and the customer service was completely awful over there delay. It is not the customers fault that you do not have staff to complete order and delivery timely. The chicken is dry and food was very cold. They forgot my pop, as well. I would never recommend anyone to go there or experience such bad service.
