Same issue as those below. I was moved from a 5x10 storage unit into a larger unit. As if somehow magically I required more space. This place is an absolute scam do not use them. Their measurements are off and when you ask them to remeasure and file a claim they do nothing. DO NOT USE. Cannot say that enough. Photos attached to show their fraudulent practices.

How they mislead consumers saying a 10x10 is the same as a garage size when NO garage has 4ft ceilings!!
Roberto D.

I decided to give this company a try and decided to move my stuff from a 10x10 storage to Clutter's 10x10 storage. Unfortunately, this was the biggest mistake I've done with a storage company! To my astonishment, I started to receive messages from Clutch telling me that I've gone over the limits of my 10x10 storage and that they will move me to the 10x15, however I needed to pay $72/month more. I WAS SHOCKED AND BETRAYED! The only reason I moved my stuff from my previous storage to them was to save money. If I had known this I would have NEVER moved as the new rate was even more than what I was paying. I called their customer support multiple times and opened a case with a manager. I could not understand how my things that were fitting fine on a 10x10 (to which I sent them video proof of this) were not fitting on their 10x10. At that point is when I was told... "This is because our storages only have a 4ft ceiling and their storages are not the same as others" - I could NOT believe this. I then proceeded to research the industry and I found out the following: 1. They compare themselves with other storages clearly on their website 2. They advertise the 10x10 storage size and compare it to the size of a "garage size" (there is no garage that has a 4ft ceiling. 3. The industry standard for ALL storage units across the US is 7-8ft. 4. Nowhere on their website they disclose their storage ceiling height. 5. Nowhere on their Terms & Conditions they disclose their storage ceiling height. Even after showing them all this proof, their customer service and management acted as if they couldn't care less and were told that they would not be changing my account. Currently, I am in the process of filing a lawsuit against this company in light of proven Deceptive Business Practices and reporting them to the Federal Trade Commission. Please DO NOT do business with this deceptive company. If you have been affected by this, contact me directly so I can add you to the lawsuit.

Labor overcharge

Following up on the below with receipts from my account to help with the automated responses sent by Chris G. to all of the negative reviews you will find if you do a quick search on Google or Yelp. Note, the pattern you see across all of the negative reviews of being overcharged, the extremely poor customer service, and the absurdity of their delivery service. On my initial pick up which simply involved a move/transfer from a 10x15' storage container into a Clutter truck (with all of my items pre-packed) I was overcharged $242.83 for "extra" delivery time (see attached photo). I was also charged for a larger storage container than what I actually needed, which is convenient for Clutter because they forced me to pay $320 vs. $240 per month. This was all done without my consent. I intentionally did not sign their pick up service agreements because I have documentation proving that I was being overcharged for the pick up service time and a larger container (than what I was quoted and what I was using with a previous storage company).

I signed up for a storage moving service unit via Clutter.com. This is the initial offer page:https://www.clutter.com/locations/california/san-diego/storage This is what I read that satisfied what I needed from the service: "Now with Clutter, you can ACCESS San Diego storage units across the city, including popular neighborhoods like, Bankers Hill, Camp Pendleton, Del Mar, Escondido, La Mesa, Morena, Old Town, Pacific Beach, Sorrento Valley, Tierrasanta, and more." In reality - and hidden behind a hyperlink buried in a FAQ - I have no access to my property without paying the remaining contract of $500 USD. And my "local pickup" to retrieve my property is 2 hours (with good traffic in Fontana) when it clearly states I'd have access to a storage unit in San Diego. Upon filing a claim, they say if I had clicked away from the page and look at the buried FAQ, I would see what I was signing up for. Obviously, this is not how it works in 2023, and I would have used a different service if I knew this was the actual service provided! I'm furious they are holding my property for ransom and then using what the FTC calls "unscrupulous tactics" to try to send the burden back to me, when I read the offer page and signed up accordingly. Obviously in FTC requirement point #2, not having access to my property and having a pickup location 2 hours away was not listed on the signup page as well. Otherwise I never would have done it. Their Google ad ALSO claims: "Free Storage Pickups - Clutter Moving And Storage" "For $0, we'll pick up, pack, and transport your items into storage" And I was CHARGED for this. FTC requirements for selling products/services: https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/news/press-releases/2021/10/ftc-ramp-enforcement-against-illegal-dark-patterns-trick-or-trap-consumers-subscriptions If you value your property STAY AWAY from this company. So far reported to FTC, DCA & CA State AG. My bank has confirmed that if I pay their ransom for my property, they will dispute the transaction and refund me based on the documents I have provided. Clutter still won't budge, "Trust & Safety" rep was an absolute jerk. Absolutely awful experience! Update: after leaving this review, they "investigated" and responded with the same nonsense resolution as before - my property is still held for ransom and they will do nothing else. I have filed in small claims and was referred to the SD DA's office.

More damage to our table
Vicki A.

Updated Review: Well, although Clutter did damage stuff on our move, they made it right immediately! We didn't ask that they buy us all new stuff, but we did ask for a reasonable reimbursement, which they provided with an apology. So I actually bumped them up from 2 to 4 stars because we liked their friendliness and promptness from start to finish. Original Review: Oh man, these guys seemed awesome! They showed up on time and had great service on the phone and in person. 3 months later they delivered our stuff to our new home, friendly as can be. They don't re-assemble stuff like we thought, but that's ok. Upon us un packing we found a scratched Simply Human trash can, a damaged set of drawers, damaged corners to our heavy table AND damage to our newest television. Appears to have been dropped or slammed against. So sad. One because this outfit seemed SO good and two, its our word against theirs. Who will win that argument? Not the consumer.

No options for pick up?? Delivery for one tiny item is $85 ??

I scheduled my items to be delivered to me once I was approved for my new condo. To my surprise, the soonest availability was in 2 weeks.. weird since they had open availability to take my items when I first became a customer... but there was nothing I could do because I needed my items so I stayed in an empty condo for 2 weeks until they were able to deliver them back to me. THE DAY BEFORE, they cancelled my appointment and said I had to reschedule. . The next available delivery day isn't until a month from now??? Either hire more people or stop taking in clients you clearly can not accommodate.. Now I have to sleep on the floor until I can have my own bed.. ?? Everything I own is in storage.. Customer service was no help andComplete disregard for the client.

From the moment this crew pulled into my driveway they nothing short of exceptional. Polite, hard working, expedient , and careful to handle all the items as if they were fragile. I would highly recommend Clutter to anyone looking for moving and storage. Why bother with a dingy, closed self storage when Clutter is out there. Thank You Clutter, you have some good people working for you. Keep up the good work. Thanks to my crew : Rosa V, Adrian G, Robert M, and Brandon S

Andrew R and Andrew S

Andrew R and Andrew S were excellent. They handle my stored items with care and packed so nothing would be broken. grwst guys who worked with great communication skills and diligence.

This year, as I was preparing to move I began to yelp around to find a storage unit complex that would meet my needs. I did not have to look far, the first place that popped up was this business! I said to myself, "hey, why not?" First, I called to inquire about how to get started and if I would be able to get a Dollie. I can not remember who I spoke to directly but she was extremely helpful. Later on that day, I went online just to see how big these units were and the pricing; there happened to be an online special going on for the unit size that I was searching for. I filled out all my information online & paid for my storage unit, it took me less than 10 minutes and I received confirmation in my email immediately. A few days passed by before I actually went into the office but when I finally did, I finished up paper work which consist of an agreement of what I can put in storage, a copy of my ID, and if I wanted another individual's name listed or not; the basic stuff. This is the first time I have ever rented a storage unit and so far it has been a very good experience for me. The ladies at the front office counters are extremely nice! I come in, sign in on the log with my name, time, and storage unit no. Then I am given the red keychain with the key that allows me to open my storage unit door (they're listed in Alphabetical Order then each door has a number assigned). After I am done, I proceed back to the office to return the key & check out. One time, there was a sign on the door that said "back in 5 minutes" I ended up dropping the red keychain with the key in the mail slot since there was also a sign that said I could do that. So far, I am very happy with the services here and I will continue to keep my belongings here as long as I need them to be in storage.

So I was very happy that the new owners had turned a leaf for this place, So much I referred my…read morefamily member to rent a storage because of the great prices and new hours, I was wrong - Military members- do not rent here -beware!! When you go to sign someone up on your storage, place them on your account, state that they are authorized to access your belongings and manage that account..... it does not mean anything!!!!! We lost the key to the storage right after we moved everything in as we were getting ready for a deployment, we were told by Maureen that we would be able to gain access to the storage no problem and she would even waive the 15.00 fee to open it up for us -one time only. All we had to do was call her ahead of time so that she could have the tools needed to open the lock. My son went to gain access (also was placed on the account) to the storage and the gal turned him away, not Maureen but another woman claiming not to know anything about this arrangement. Picture this- this was not a simple drive over, it is 100 degrees outside, you have a vehicle full of items that needed to go in and it is 40 minutes before they close. Also you are paying over 200.00 a month and for same strange reason, our name on the account means nothing? we cannot have access? What changed ? We are told we now have to have our service member send a copy of their id card to them. A fax copy. lets think about this now, while deployed over seas, who can easily do this? no one i know of. I mean floating n the middle of the gulf, send a fax... it is down right stupid. so this storage is being paid for and with no real resolutions to gaining access. What a huge disappointment as I recommended my family here. The only time they tried to rectify this was AFTER we closed the storage and AFTER i wrote this YELP, they could not give a far fig newton about this until then. I am embarrassed and disgusted the way this has turned out. The gal (Lori) that answered the phone tried to say that the law requires,, etc etc. Well then why would we waste time on adding people to the list of people able to handle the account and have access to the storage if it doesn't mean anything when we need to get access. I will not recommend this place EVER again and for the hassle I wont be coming back. As soon as our family member returned we got his things out of hostage from Super Storage, Poor business practice and they do not stand by their word. Nowadays may not seem like much to some people but to me it means more than my weight in gold.

I was informed by Kettner Storage that my lock was allegedly loose, and without my authorization, they placed their own lock on my unit. While I understand security protocols are important, the way the situation was handled afterward was incredibly disappointing and unnecessarily difficult. I live far from the facility, and with the cost of gas and time, I sent my assistant to simply check the unit. Despite calling from the phone number listed on my account -- the same number they have previously used to contact me regarding payments and account information -- my assistant was denied access because they refused to provide the key to the lock THEY placed on my unit. After multiple calls with the supervisor, confirming my identity over the phone, acknowledging who I was, and having my account information in front of them, they still insisted I personally drive down with my physical ID to access my own belongings. What made this more frustrating was being told "not to take it personally," when the reality is that this caused a very personal inconvenience involving my time, travel, expenses, and stress. There were many reasonable solutions that could have been offered: * Allowing me to email a copy of my ID for verification * Adding my assistant temporarily to the account * Verifying identity through the account phone number and information already on file Instead, I was met with inflexibility and what I believe was dishonesty. I was later told that on April 16th I had allegedly been informed that I would need to appear in person with ID to access the unit. That conversation never happened. The discussion on that date was regarding adding my card to autopay. For people who store important belongings -- especially if you travel frequently, live far away, or may need emergency access through a trusted assistant or family member -- this is something to seriously consider. If a lock issue occurs and you cannot physically appear immediately, accessing your own belongings may become extremely difficult. Storage companies should not only provide security, but also professionalism, honesty, hospitality, and practical solutions for their customers. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I truly wish I could leave zero stars, but one will have to do.
