This shop is one of the worst convenience stores i have ever been to. Unfortunately i have to visit…read morethe store regularly as it is on my way to the bus stop that i use to commute to work but i am always greeted with rude staff. Every time i am forced to wait at the counter for the ladies to complete what ever task they are doing first before they walk over to serve me. This happens almost every day. I am usually in a hurry to catch a bus and this just makes it more difficult. They never apologise for the wait and even sometimes argue between each other about who should be serving me. It feels like by me walking to the counter to buy something that it is an inconvenience to the staff. There is also a ridiculous policy that if yo upay by card you have to spend a minimum of £6! which is awful when you just want to buy a bottle of water. I have to life cash each time i need to go to the store. Then the ladies behind the counter always moan about how they have no change when i present them with a £10 note....what else am i supposed to do? buy things i dont need just to keep them happy? or use my card and spend over £6 even though i just want water? I always feel awkward when i use this store and its because of the bad attitude displayed by all of the women that work in the store in the mornings. Im tempted to change my bus stop to one slightly further away that is beside a much nicer shop just so i no longer need to visit this awful store.

Though considering my past record this could mean anything from a few times a week to once every three years... Anyway, as Eleanor pointed out this is a pretty large Spar and thus has a good selection of all the usual grocers. This is particularly, handy and useful for those along the fruit and veg lines as well as prepacked sandwiches. As it's unlikely you'll find products up to a similar standard of these in the numerous corner shops and newsagents scattered around locally. Hence, it's either this Spar or the Sainsbury's further along Clarkston Road. Fair enough, Sainbury's isn't all that much further and does, obviously, have a much better selection - being a supermarket and all - but this Spar is that little bit handier for a few quality items. For instance, today we popped in here on the way from stocking up from Discount Pet Supplies and to a pub lunch. So an excellent addition which fits nicely into a niche market between the newsagents and Sainsbury's massive supermarket. Plus, there's a free of charge cash machine attached to the wall just outside, which is also of great use.

They often have deals on with bottled bears and Bazardi Breezers and they are often an absolute bargain. I came here last summer as I was making a family meal and I had forgotten to buy tomatoes which were a pretty important ingredient. I nipped along the Tesco Express just a few doors along but they had sold out. Oh dear. Not really sure what to do I decided to give this little store a try. As soon as I popped in the door I was greeted by a box of red, ripe, juicy tomatoes, phew! I bought around 4 and they came to about 80p, what a bargain! The woman working that day was really helpful and chatted to me as she was bagging my tomatoes so I decided to share my tomato based disaster with her. Thank goodness Value Convenient Store saved the day!

A good bakery that is not over stocked and a section for Kosher products for the large Jewish community. I've seen cd's on sale such as various hit albums for under £5.00. Staff are flexible and will go to the tills to serve so that you are not waiting to be served.

Probably added yet…read moreanother stop on to their journey via the supermarket on the way home, or phoned a takeaway when they got in. But no more! For now there is a Tesco Metro at Glasgow Airport and it's wonderful. I mean, wonderful in the way that only a Tesco could be (which is pretty damn average, if I'm being honest). I actively avoid shopping at Tesco as I find the experience too depressing, but I can't hate this one as it is so damn convenient. I'm a pretty organised person, and I'd arranged for our groceries to be delivered by our preferred supermarket (not Tesco, that's for sure) when we got home from the airport. Downside being that the delivery slot was 11am - 1pm, and our flight got in around 5.30am. So in I popped to tiny Tesco, grabbed a few essentials and headed to the check out. This store doesn't exhibit the kind of Tesco efficiency you might be used to, and you'll probably have to self check-out. No big deal though, because soon you'll be in a taxi on your way home having spent £30 on potato scones, rolls and bacon and feeling well smug about your impending breakfast/brunch and lunch. Note: yes, the prices do seem steeper here than your average Tesco.

But Tesco prices were fabulous- to give you and idea, I bought: crisps 1 pound, oatcakes 1 pound 9p, and some buns at 1 pound 65p. My carrier bag was a pretty strong one and cost me another 10p. There's a 20% VAT which cost me a whopping 18 p. You can also use your clubcard and earn Tesco points at the airport Tesco. All in all, if you need something at the airport, start here.

Their bbq packs and party platters are so handy, think 80 party nibbles (sausage rolls etc) for £5. They also sell cold and others products, sometimes they have big 3l bottles of coke for £2 and cheap versions of spirits like malibu for £4. There is a car park at the back which you have to pay £1 for but this gets refunded if you spend £5 or more in the shop (I have seen someone get fined for not putting a ticket in their window so dont risk it)

It's a good place to pick…read moreup a few basics and essentials but don't expect it to have all the cheapest options available or any specialist ingredients. It's your standard convenience store. There's a free cash machine just outside. Inside there are sections for sandwiches and lunch items, fresh fruit and veg, some fresh meat, fish and dairy items in chiller cabinets, a small frozen section, mostly dedicated to pizza. Dried canned and tinned goods, magazines, beer and wine and a small toiletries section. They have a couple of regular checkouts, normally with just one of them being operated at they have a couple of self service checkouts. The staff are pretty good - they're efficient and friendly and tend to anticipate when the self service checkouts will need attention.
