At a first glance I thought place had good feel and the staff was friendly. My apologies to my waitress who was actually very nice. This review is strictly about food which was not memorable at all. The menu was limited to the crazy pairing of favors that do not work with raw fish. They also offered a chipotle sauce which was there to hide how terrible the food was to come! The place was very busy and the food was coming out plate after plate. When observing the sushi chefs not doing anything behind the sushi bar but looking into the dining area I assumed everything was was pre-made. Every other sushi is in every other sushi restaurant is at least prepping if they are not making fresh plates. First off the $15 sushi platter consisted of 5 pieces of sushi, 2 of which were octopus and shrimp which are my least favorite sushi pieces. The platter looked like the nigiri had been sitting out in a buffet line since lunch. The octopus was most likely from last years catch and it felt like eating a tire. I've never done that but I imagine this is similar. The shrimp was also as tired as the octopus and actually had a texture on it because it was so dry. The tuna was okay and the salmon was fine but I needed more. After realizing that my sushi platter only consisted if 5 pieces versus the 8 I was told. I ordered another roll(spider roll) which cost as much as the platter. The crab was soggy and flavorless. And the roll fell apart after just looking at it therefore I had to use my hands. I couldn't ask for the check fast enough!! The only thing that was good about this place was how fast the drinks and food went out. Which was perfect because I couldn't wait to get out of there! Went for the first time last week and tried as many menu items as we felt we could eat including sushi. Our only complaint was we weren't impressed with the sushi and nonchalantly let the staff know to which they comp'd without our requesting. That opened up a conversation with a manager who through the course of casual conversation informed us that CO Sushi is the offspring of CO Vietnamese restaurant on Kings street in Charleston. Because of a no-compete clause with a well known Asian Fusion restaurant in the same shopping centre, CO added the Sushi and reduced their Vietnamese menu to technically not be in competition. I would definitely say that explains a lot. As a sushi house alone, CO Sushi is nothing worth writing for. However, push the sushi aside and order anything else and be prepared for the best Asian (Vietnamese / Thai) place in the greater Myrtle Beach area!!! The pad Thai is nothing short of amazing and definitely our new go to pad Thai place now that the Russians bought Hot Wing Express. The Vietnamese Ramen was so incredible, it bordered on addictive!!! I enjoyed this restaurant. The food was good although a few items seemed to have long delays. We primarily had sushi which covered most of the basic rolls and were well presented. They were good about wearing masks which I really appreciated with the uncooked food! What I'm not sure about being related to Covid was clearing the table. We sat at a small high top and had a stack of about 8 dishes which made eating awkward at times. I think when things fully open back up and are hopefully staffed well, I hope they explore some more interesting specialty rolls that make them unique and interesting. I LOVE CO. I am a local, and I have eaten just about everywhere here. Let me start by saying, I'm NOT a sushi connoisseur. I *like* rolls. I don't eat any sashimi or anything. But, I do love the rolls I have had at CO. The star for me, though, is the pho. I love it. I crave it. I'm obsessed with it. My daughter and husband feel the same way. The beef and kimchi dumplings are also a unique and delicious way to please your palate. I have had awesome service here, every time, and the cocktails are fantastic, too. My *only* complaint about this place is that it's mostly hightop seating and I despise hightop seating... but that is a totally personal issue, and I just wait for one of the few normal tables. I've eaten at Co's on several occasions. Usually, in the mid-afternoon when things are slower. The soups are great and the portions are generous, but that's pretty much where my enthusiasm starts to wane. I had high hopes for this place when it opened but after a few visits I've grown disenchanted. The beer selection is weak (one IPA?? C'mon guys) and the sushi chefs may as well be non-existent. I'm the type who actually enjoys discussing what they're eating and find a little back and forth with your chef can boost the experience. According to the bartender, it seems the chefs are discouraged from chatting. Unfortunate... That aside, the place just feels flat and sterile to me. About the closest thing to a pulse I've noticed is the bass coming from the stereo which seems to get louder as the evening grows longer. That's actually the main thing that bugs me...it feels like they're trying a little too hard to be trendy, here. If I want beats, I'll hit a club. If I want dinner and good conversation, I'd like to be able to have it without yelling. Like I said, the soups are great, the sushi is just fine and the prices are reasonable. I'm just not a fan of the atmosphere or lack thereof. Must go!! While vacationing at myrtle beach, my family and I decided to check out a little shopping area. This amazing restaurant is on a quiet corner in this quaint neighborhood. Hubby and I have been craving sushi since we've been down here, and this really filled our needs. Spicy Crab Rangoons - Amazing!! Different from any we've had before with a spicy sauce and filling. To die for. Ahi Poke Bowl - My first time having one, and it really blew my mind. Ahi was super fresh, cut into big chunks, with cucumber, avocado, carrots, seaweed salad, and rice. All the ingredients were so fresh and delicious. Hubby got Spicy Dynamite Roll, loved it, the wasabi is go good and the pickled ginger is really fragrant and palate-cleansing. We asked a lot of questions and our server was awesome, answering any questions we had. Don't forget to try the Singapore hot sauce they have on the table. He apologized and said we sat in a remote place (a table 5 feet from the main section) so the waiter forgot about us. That's a lame excuse. Why did he bring us water in the first place? This place is actually really nice, would be great to go with groups of friends for sushi night or happy hour. The sushi here wasn't that good to me, it was average. The reason for the 4 stars is because the money lies within their beef dumplings! I tried their salmon rolls and sausage rolls and wasn't a fan of either. The salmon rolls weren't rolled good because they were falling apart. I've had way better rolls than that. The crispy chicken wontons were really good though. I've never tried dumplings before because I have a problem with doughy food. I don't like it! The waitress told me their broth was really good, So I asked them if they could crisp up the dumplings for me, and the chef did just that. He even put the broth on the side so I could pour it myself. When I say the flavor of the broth and the dumplings being crispy was so good! I ordered a second bowl. This is what I'd go here for if ever I'm in town again. And I will be returning again for the dumplings before I leave this week. Also, their cucumber mojito was really really good! The beef dumplings I had deserved 4 stars!! I ordered the pad Thai which was fabulous. My future husband ordered a variety of sashimi and he enjoyed it. When he was done he ate my meal and loved it as well. Our waitress was very kind and smart. She knew the menu cause we had a lot of questions like "what's this?" Or "what's in this?" And she answered them. If you're coming here for drinks and happy hour on their sushi, this is the spot to come to. We had their Kung fu crunch and pork belly roll. The Kung fu crunch roll was missing the "crunch" factor, however, it was the best of the 2 rolls we had. As a matter of fact, the pork belly roll had more crunch than the actual crunch roll. Would we order those rolls again? Perhaps just the kung fu crunch roll as it wasn't as dry as the pork belly roll. We will probably be back, but only during happy hour as their sushis are not worth it's $12.00 + price tag. If you're here for their pho, I'd say go to Vietnamese House. The pho broth here is lacking authenticity in flavor. The noodles in the kid's pho was subpar as they were over cooked. It tasted like they left the noodles in the broth for too long and it got soggy. My son loves noodles, and even he didn't want to eat it. If a 2 year old noodle loving boy didn't even take a second bite, I'd say this was a failed dish. As for the pho combo's noodles, it was decent. However, I would not go back for their pho, it is definitely not worth the $15.00 price tag. I'd say pass on this dish. The meat balls that came in the combo tasted rather sweet. I wasn't a fan of it, but my son didn't mind it so much. I would rate the service here a 2 star. I had 2 waitresses telling me they'd be back with a high hair for my little girl, and they never came back with it. It wasn't until I got up from my table to go look for one, that I was finally able to get the high chair. Also, it took awhile for our food to come out of the kitchen. I don't fault the waitresses for this incident, however, I believe the kitchen staff needed to get their stuff together. Our appetizer and sushi rolls came out way before the soups ever did. Overall, I recommend this place only for their happy hour on sushi as they are half off & for their drinks. But I'm sure you can find better in the area if you really look. The service we received was excellent, we sat at the bar and Mitch our bartender always asked if we needed anything else and made sure our water glasses were filled with fresh water even while we had a drink in front of us. And the drinks were made with care, not just tasty but beautiful. Our plates were cleared once we were done yet we were never made to feel rushed. And the staff worked well together. Sonia and Price which were two of the waitresses working that evening made us feel very welcome as well. They both told us to let them know if we needed anything. Mitch had everything under control but it was great to see how well they all worked together and how welcome we felt. But if you like the modern, asian-fusion vibe, you'll love this place. My wife's FAVORITE dish is Pho. So she had her hopes high. She had the chicken Pho, and it exceeded her expectations. I had the Vietnamese Ramon, and it was incredible as well. I could tell the pork had been seared first on a grill, because the meat had a nice crispy skin to it, even though it was in the soup. The flavors in the Pho and Ramen were just perfect! Service was EXCELLENT as well. For what it's worth, this place is located in a nice community, just a few minutes from the main strip in Myrtle Beach. You almost feel like you're in a different world. Dinner at Co Sushi Myrtle Beach was a nightmare experience! My wife and guests FINISHED eating 30 minutes before I even got my food. The order was wrong... took 2 hours total. Asked to speak to the manager; they said he was on the phone. Had to ask 3 times. Finally, 35 minutes later Jay came over and said "sorry, there's nothing I can do... they're humans." After all that.. my wife ordered a cup of tea and that never came either. Third visit in a row service like this. Not sure I can go back until management get their act together.
