We lived in RI last year, and he LOVED, LOVED, LOVED going to Ruff Life 2x a week for daycare. I would get him in the car at 7am and say "we're going to camp" and he would stare out the window and pant the entire way there. Once there, he would drag me up the ramp and into the house. When I picked him up at the end of the day, all the dogs would bark out a goodbye, and while I knew he was glad to see me (and exhausted from all the fun), I also knew he would miss his pals until the next day. Sadly, I quit my job so camp needed to end, but if we ever wind up back in the area, he is going right back to Ruff Life. What I loved about it was that everyone there was really nice, greeted him by name each day with a hug, and he never smelled "doggie" at the end of the day, which many places smell like.

We rescued a 12 week old puppy from Texas and quickly learned we needed pro help as we haven't been puppy parents for 20 years and this little girl was a nutjob and may have been heading down a bad path behavior wise. Kristin got right back to me after my initial web page inquiry. When she arrived, she was relaxed and professional and her kind, caring, genuine personality was obvious from the start. She CARES about our furbaby. Her training skills were so effective even from the initial consultation that this little pup was learning: come,sit,shake and down (heel) and most important to us was her going in her crate when asked as this is something we really want her to master and be comfortable with. Kristin made it known that our role is crucial in her training and gave us handouts for our homework and skills to be met. By the second session, our pupper was learning: "touch" (snoot boops), learning to jump into her bed and "leave it" (biting stuff) and stay. We are able to redirect the evening zoomy/crazy time with physical and mental workouts for her that is good for all of us. For the past few months "we" have been walking with Calia and her amazing companion Jasper. Not only does Edison come home happy, exhausted, and, socialized..I swear he comes home just a little more well behaved. About a week and a half ago my mother broke her fibula and ankle, sweeping her off her feet for at least 2 months. I contacted Calia after 5pm on a Saturday and before my mother was even discharged, Cali was able to rework my walks and help get my mothers dogs (new clients) on the schedule for walks and check ins. This describes perfectly, my experience with Brian Fleming and his approach to reactive dogs and their owners. To teach a dog autonomy is teaching empowerment. It's really too bad more trainers don't get into the true psychology of dogs and why they act the way they do and instead, focus on nipping the behavior by any means necessary. The difference in his approach leaves you in a true partnership with your canine companion with an understanding of what their behavior stems from. Not only did he maintain control without touching the dog, but he asked background questions about everything from sleeping arrangements to everyday habits that most of us regard as "cute" and not relevant. He educated us in regards to our own contribution to his behavior that we were previously clueless about. All this in the very first one on one session. Having a larger breed reactive dog is draining and as a result we may make bad choices thinking we are helping when in fact we are making things far worse. The only way to know is to go to a true canine behavorist like Brian that is rare in the world of training and gadgets. I can't thank him enough and feel very relieved that my dog is on his way to a better, happier life therefore making ours exactly the same. Thank you again Brian.

He crashed into walls, jumped over the couch, practically pulled our arms off when he wanted to play with another dog (or human), etc. An out-of-control dog of this size was really difficult to deal with, and we were concerned we were in over our heads. After the 6-week intensive training program (which included private and group lessons), he was completely different. And adding several weeks of canine camp helped us and him hold onto his progress. I'm not sure we would have been able to keep him and they made the difference. And now we are happy to have him and are thrilled he is part of our family.

He will warn people that his communication is "direct," but that is inaccurate. His responses are dramatic cut-and-paste messages that often have nothing to do with your own request. My dog got what it needed from training, but lost a good amount of weight. When this was pointed out to the assistant, they reviewed their instructions- sure enough, the wrong amount of food was listed. It should have been obvious for a dog that size.
