I scheduled an appointment with a live person for November 19th and received multiple confirmation texts. Then, one week before my appointment, I was suddenly told my time was no longer available. When I asked for another time, I was told there were no openings. I rescheduled for February 6th, again with a live person who assured me this slot was available. I even received two confirmation texts. Now, just three days before my appointment, I get a message saying, "Good morning, unfortunately we are not open during the week." You'd think this would be important information to tell patients before booking them, especially when confirming a specific day. This kind of disorganization is beyond frustrating. The receptionist at the front desk is the most ungodly rudest person I've met in my whole life. I've tried to get an appointment with my assigned doctor at this location and I've been treated horribly by this individual several times. I can't believe they have a person like this working in a dental office. She is saying that they have no doctors. She is saying that they have no cleaning kit and I'm trying to figure out what's really going on because this is my assigned dentist by my insurance company. This experience has been a fail from beginning to end, especially because there's no resolution Except for going to our location. That's nowhere near me. I received 3 text messages and 2 emails confirming my appointment, the last received the morning of my appointment. DO NOT GO HERE This is the WORST customer service I have ever experienced. I scheduled an appointment because I was experiencing tooth pain .When at my initial appointment I waited for an hour and a half to be seen by the dentist. In that time, I had X-rays taken and the dental assistant couldn't figure out how to use the machine so that was my first red flag. After calling over someone else to assist, they put me in a room with no explanation about when a dentist would see me, what my treatment plan might be and I waited for 45 minutes before the dentist came in. Apparently the X-rays didn't help him because he couldn't determine which tooth was giving me the issue. He spent approximately 30 seconds tapping on my teeth before diagnosing me with a loose filling. 90 minutes of waiting for 3 minutes with a dentist was my second red flag. In scheduling an appointment to have it filled, they would only offer me Friday appointments, inexplicably. 3rd red flag. The worst part was the night before my filling I received a call at 6:00 pm telling me they booked me with the wrong dentist so I cannot come to the appointment. I'm a teacher, and had already planned an entire substitute day around this, so the lack of notice is inexcusable. The other dentist refused to see me because I'm not his patient... but it's not as if I have an extensive history or treatment plan. Oh and then they just went ahead and cancelled my appointment without my consent. They also told me they'd call me on the morning to try to get me in somehow and did not follow through with a phone call. Absolutely ridiculous. This place is trash. Ok if you read this far here's the final chapter. I decided to change dentists and requested copies of my records. For 2 months they ignored phone messages and when I went in person twice they said nobody works here that can do that. Corporate took my complaint but did nothing until I filed a complaint with the state. And the most hilarious part is when I finally got the records they had made notations that I kept calling and complaining that they would not give me the records. Second appointment they tried to charge me an insane amount of money for mouthwash I could buy at Walmart as well as an expensive oral cancer screening (completely unnecessary) which they would perform 6months later. This last time, they moved my appointment without notifying me and then blamed it on their automated system which confirmed my appointment a week prior. Everybody in this location was very professional. The doctor did a great job on my treatment, the office manager and assistants were very helpful. i Look forward to my appointment for cleaning! I recommend this north Druid hills location. They also are taking necessary measures for Covid. You are not allowed to sit in the lobby until they call you. I had an appointment to fill a tooth that had a hole drilled in it in order to remove the dead nerve (root canal). I was on time, but, waited over an hour before being told that they took someone (without an appointment) ahead of me and if I wanted, I could continue to wait or reschedule. I asked if they had started the procedure on that patient, so I could have some idea of how much longer I had to wait. They said no, they hadn't started yet, but I could wait or reschedule. I have a HOLE in my tooth, which means it can easily get infected. The big problem with that is because the tooth does not have a nerve, I wouldn't know if I had an infection. Apparently, they are too busy to care about that. Please understand, I am not complaining about their dentists, just their staff! I am really sad to have to report this score score, but I'm so disappointed with what has happened here. Dr. Thomas was AMAZING, and now he is gone. Today, I felt like they were just trying to upsell me more services than I needed. I take great care of my teeth, and I had no cavities or any issues with my fillings or crows so they now want to sell me a new bite guard for night, and offer occlusion - which is highly controversial, irreversible, and frankly not necessary for me. This is the worst dental clinic you could ever visit. Worst in every aspect. The branch I'm referring to is the Coast Dental at Druid Hills Atlanta GA. Dr Malcolm Gosset is grossly incompetent, I wonder who even allowed him to practice. I had 5 fillings done, 3 of which were completely unnecessary, which i later came to know, I had pictures and X-rays. Furthermore, the cavities that actually existed weren't addressed at all. Rather, the supposed Dr just saw what was easy and convenient for him. Why drill healthy tooth structure, when it does not need to be filled. I'm in deep regret that I ever trusted such incompetent staff. Furthermore, other staff is even worse, I called to get my records and X-rays released to me, as I was curious regarding what exactly they had done. They didnt even bother to address my complaints, the only thing the person on call kept repeating like a crazy person was that I had to pay $18 dollars in order to get my records released. I didn't have an issue with the $18, but at-least try to answer my concerns prior to demanding money, however less it may be. I kept saying that I will pay it but first why did the dentist perform the unnecessary procedures, their answer was "gimme the 18 bucks". The thing is a while earlier I had a consultation from another dentist ( a competent dentist), who had requested X-rays from Coast Dental, they sent the X-rays to that office, without any hassles. I just had to call the other dentist and get the same X-rays from them, for which I was being demanded $18. What is it, are these people intimidated by other legit dental clinics, and are scraping by ripping patients off every chance they get. I have never understood why people have a distrust and don't enjoy going to the dentist until this appointment. I came as a first time customer, new to Atlanta and was very disappointed. The dentist was very nice and professional and the front desk staff were very nice overall. However, the hygienist (Kat) was beyond rude to me throughout the appointment. I was also unaware that it is not common for a cleaning to occur at your first appointment and she told me I would have to come back to receive a cleaning (which was the purpose of the visit). So be aware if you come to this location as a first-time customer they will try to not clean your teeth. They also tried to pressure me into several unnecessary and expensive mouth rinses. For example, Kat told me it was mandatory to receive a Chlorhexidine rinse for $35 and when I expressed that with my dental insurance the visit should be covered I was told the several items she was pushing were out of pocket. I am a pharmacist, so I know the price of Chlorhexidine (even without insurance) is ~$5 so I instead asked for a written prescription and I denied all the other rinses. However, the way they present the information they make it seem like you cannot deny the extra items. If you chose to come here, you have to be willing to advocate for your dental care and your wallet. And I would recommend mentally preparing to understand why people dislike dental cleanings and be prepared to deal with a very rude hygienist. read more

My Wife and I went to this dentist for two years then gave up. Never saw the same dentist twice, some were good some didn't speak English but seemed okay. One was pretty groadie with a stinky beard. The worst problem is the billing. We were constantly double billed after the insurance had paid. (This review is for the office in Druid Hills, Atlanta, on Briarcliff, at the old Loehmann's Plaza). The Dentist is great with a wonderful, caring manner, as is the hygienist, and both use top of the line methods for determining a good treatment plan. All employees there were really nice. I normally go to the Buckhead office but it has been closed for some time I guess with COVID. I had purchased the Smile Plus Gold package back in June 2020 from the Buckhead office which clearly states for the $499 purchase price that 3 cleanings are included, among other things. I made an appointment with the North Druid Hills office and had to fill all the same patient information out once again. After that they presented me an estimated bill of $330+ for a regular cleaning and x rays. My paid up package was also to include X rays. The employee or manager continued to deny that I was entitled to the cleaning with my package, or the x rays. I needless to say walked out. They are a bunch of lying crooks. I am going to submit a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. The package that I signed up for is supposed to be good at all branches in Georgia, Florida, Texas and Nevada. 2484 Briarcliff Rd NE #29, Atlanta, GA 30329 I went to this office today for a routine teeth cleaning and the dentist did a series of procedures WITHOUT MY CONSENT. When the appointment came to an end today, they told me that I owed them 145.00 out of pocket?!? I immediately told the lady at the counter that this was a standard teeth cleaning and that this appointment should have been completely covered by my insurence because I was here for a routine teeth cleaning. So when i asked to see the bill for an explanation the desk associate went on to list a series of procedures that they had done on me today ALL WITHOUT MY CONSENT OR AUTHORITY. Not only did they not do a standard cleaning which was the only procedure I was here for, but they did 4 operational procedures ALL WITHOUT ANY CONSULTATION OR SIGNATURES. Because of this I informed the desk associate that everything they did today was illegal and the desk associate stated to me (and I quote) "IT NEEDED TO BE DONE." THEN WHEN I TOLD HER THAT I DID NOT CONSENT TO ANYTHING AND THAT THERE WAS NO SIGNATURE OR DISCUSSIONS ABOUT ANYTHING DONE TO ME TODAY and THAT I WOULD BE DISCUSSING THIS WITH MY LAWYER, SHE IMMEDIATELY DECIDED TO DROP THE PROCEDURES (LIKE SHE WAS DOING ME A FAVOR) AND TELL ME I OWED A 70.00 DEDUCTABLE?!? DO NOT GO HERE! The office at Briarcliff Road provides terrible service, poor quality, and tries to charge for miscellaneous extras. I was a new patient, having moved to the state recently, and tried to set up an appointment for an exam and a cleaning. Unless you are already a patient, you have to talk to a call center in another country. Normally, this is not an issue for me. However, for this particular call center it was extremely difficult to set up an appointment as there were significant language barriers and the employee seemed to lack knowledge of how to work their systems. When I went in for the appointment, the office informed me they only had me for an exam but not a cleaning. They indicated that this was a common experience as the call center only has access to the exam scheduling and not the hygienist. They were nice and were still able to fit me in for a cleaning, which I appreciate. The quality of the services for both the exam and the cleaning are terrible. As others have mentioned, the dentist barely looks at your teeth or even your X-rays and then leaves. I am pretty confident that I have cavities because my teeth have been sore. The dentist didn't poke at it. Instead, he simply flossed between the teeth and said looks like no cavities and left. This is not the usual process for dental examinations! I know because I go to the dentist regularly where there are competent dentists. I also know what they do during an exam when you do have cavities because I have gone through the process before. Next, when measuring the distance from gum to teeth, the hygienist went so quickly that the assistant could not even record it correctly. The hygienist is either world's best that I have ever had in my many years of going to the dentist or she didn't even look to get correct measurements. My bet is on the latter. The cleaning was also definitely subpar and incomplete. Perhaps, it was because they were not expecting an appointment and rushed it. Finally, this leaves me to the extraneous and random charges. I was charged $17 for a bottle of mouthwash that I did not request nor was it recommended or discussed with me. It was not until I went to check out that I noticed the charge and had them remove it. Be aware that they also charge $10 per patient for their office's PPE. Most respectable dental offices do not try to pass this office cost on to the consumer. The office is fairly rundown, equipment does not work as it should, and it does not give the impression that is clean. Clearly, I will not be going back and will find a different dentist in the area. I hate the dentist so making an appointment was kind of a pain. The first appointment I had to wait a few months due to my new patient status and then they lost my appointment, which was quickly corrected. I waited in the lobby for over an hour, I went in for a cleaning and ended up needing 2 fillings which i had done and the dentist was like on an assembly line. Not efficiently quick, like that's all the time i have quick. The fillings took at least 2 months to heal so they weren't sensitive and the whole time I'm in like a dull pain which i called about several times and I was assured all was well. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL!!!!!!!It was a sad experience. They have a lot of hidden cost. I went for root canal and they said it would cost 350$ out of pocket when I come in for treatment. However, I had a doubt based on a previous friend's experience and when I asked them again during appointment confirmation, why the treatment plan doesn't show crown cost, they reveal that 350$ was for just root canal and another 350$ if i want a crown. That was EXTREMELY misleading. Why would a patient come in for root canal without a crown. Second incident: After my consultation, the bill showed 35$ for pulp cavity test apart from regular consultation fees (the doctor literally checked me for a minute). Anyways, when I asked what is that 35$ for, the assistant immediately left came back in 10 mins to say " Congrats!!, Your insurance covers the 35$". However, I found it very fishy because they completely removed that cost from the final breakdown of the procedure prices in the bill. When the insurance company worked with Coast, and sent me a resolution letter that I only owed $90, Coast immediately reported that I owe them $500 to a collector. In addition, their services are not personalized. If you want to know your dentist, and instead of getting someone new each time and sit in a public, partitioned area with twenty other dental chairs (part of their corporate dentistry scheme), do NOT go to Coast dental. I've experienced genuine comfort from Jennifer and Elayne in the front from warm greetings and conversation and Felicia who took my x-rays!!! I came here after a terrible experience at another dentist yesterday and let me tell you- they have turned everything right around. I don't visit dentists a lot (..like ever) but some pain made me call for an appointment. They were able to squeeze me in the next day and the receptionist was super friendly on the phone. It is very clean, well decorated and even plays delightful (kind of annoying) smooth jazz over the intercom while you wait. I will take this over a TV blasting Judge Judy any day. The doc was kind and let me know as gently as possible that my mouth is a disgusting cesspool filled with cavities. Not all my teeth, but an amount an adult probably shouldn't have. He showed me some pictures of the problem spots and also informed me about some other treatments I might need. He gave me a price sheet for all of it and we scheduled a time I could come in and start to derail the cavity train. I have to say, He did a great job of not revealing his inevitable disgust at my dentist habit. :D To be honest, I'm not really sure if it was affordable because the last time I was at a dentist, I'm pretty sure it was in the children's section... In the past I was not happy at all with this location. It was on my insurance and I felt stuck with them. Well, it looks like the staff turned over and the dentist has stuck around (maybe a year now). I can now say that I am pleased! I have been excepted for emergency treatments and have need above and beyond pain relief and I was treated so kindly by all. My husband and I have both started commenting about how much with like this new dentist. He is a young man who has the skills and bedside manners. Seems that dentist depart without notices to patients. The office is poorly run. I scheduled an appointment over the phone, the day of the appointment I called three times to confirm with no answer. When I showed up they said I didn't have an appointment scheduled, I guess the receptionist I spoke to never put it in their system. The more negative aspect of my experience here is the adding on services without my approval. For example, I said I only wanted the X-rays my insurance company would cover and I was assured that was all that was being obtained. I have not used a prepaid dental plan for 15 years, I thought I would try again. Same results, They are not worth the effort. I went in for a teeth cleaning, they will not give you the cleaning unless you pay for the scaling's. Also want to have me come back and get 2 crowns. Spoke to Manager states that is the way it is.
