The place is GORGEOUS! Really beautifully decorated for Christmas too. But I recommend skipping the food and just enjoying the shopping. Coastal Fog was the best restaurant most beautiful most elegant in all of Greenville and near by cities!! Today I found out that it close it's beautiful doors permanently! This is terrible and sad news!! I live 1hour & 30 min away and I would plan trips to Greenville just to go to Coastal Fog. The Greenville community should have supported this establishment. I've always said this is the place I come to when I want to feel like I've stepped out of Greenville--and I still feel that way. The ambiance is truly what sets this place apart, and while the prices are steep, I've accepted that you're paying for the experience. That part has never bothered me. What has become disappointing, though, is the service I've received on my last few visits. Historically, the staff has been polite and welcoming. But recently, that standard seems to have slipped--and that's incredibly disheartening, especially considering how much I've loved coming here. Sometimes, in certain spaces, it's easy to feel like you're not the "typical" clientele--whether because of your social background or other factors. I try not to carry that mindset with me. I've lived on three different continents and have interacted with people from all walks of life, so I usually feel at ease anywhere. But today, for the first time at this establishment, I truly felt that discomfort--and it wasn't just me, it was my entire party, including three minors. The service we received from one older staff member, in particular, was frankly upsetting. She's never been especially warm, which is fine--I don't expect extra kindness. But the way she treated not only me, but also my friend and the minors with us, crossed a line. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we were placing our order, she interrupted my friend mid-conversation--not to clarify or assist, but to condescendingly point out that my friend was "not of age," and then added, "but you do look older than 12," in a tone that was entirely uncalled for.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My friend had been joking with another adult in our group, and the comment came off as intrusive and unnecessarily critical. She didn't pause to listen, didn't show patience, and certainly didn't offer a respectful explanation of any policy--just attitude. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Later, two of the minors returned to the counter to order something that had already been placed earlier. Instead of simply processing it, she commented that "someone already ordered that in the previous order," and then, noticing one minor hadn't been part of the first group, added, "or is it for her?" That was completely unnecessary.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If she had any concerns, she could have respectfully addressed an adult--not put a child on the spot and make them feel uncomfortable over something so trivial. Let me be very clear: I have dined at countless restaurants, including Michelin-starred establishments, and I have never been made to feel questioned or unwelcome for the number of times I wanted to order something. That's just basic hospitality. You would think any establishment would be happy to receive more business, not act like it's an inconvenience. Great customer service should never depend on who's standing in front of you. I truly hope this gets addressed. I've spoken to others who've had similar experiences, and it would be a real shame for a place as special as this to lose loyal patrons simply because some staff members make people feel "less than." read more

Last weekend I visited Coastal Fog and to my surprise there were vendors. Bakino and Beba Organic Foods was selling sourdough bread, desserts, soup and other items. Oh my word I purchased the jalapeño and cheddar sourdough bread and it was absolutely delicious. I also purchased their tomato soup and it too was amazingly great!! I toasted the bread slices in the oven and my family of 3 ate the entire loaf at one setting. It was amazing. The young lady who owns the business is currently attending graduate school at ECU so that made my purchase more meaningful!! I am headed to the Coastal Fog holiday market today and am hopeful that she is there as I need another two loaves. read more

If you are a runner or cyclist and stop by here after a long run or bike ride DO NOT bring your bottle in with you. It doesn't matter if it's full or empty and it doesn't matter if you're buying food and drink, you'll still get hassled by the person that owns 70% of the business (her words) about how you are violating their no container / food / drink policy. I understand they don't want people bringing in food or drink they bought outside but this is another level. I won't be returning and I'll be telling everyone I run with. We were a table of 6 who spent roughly $100 but that wasn't enough apparently. Just to be clear, despite the response from the owner below (photo of original response below), there were no raised voices from either me, my friends or the co-owner who spoke to me. The co-owner approached me and asked me what was in a running bottle / container. I have no idea what was in the bottle as it wasn't mine, but that didn't prevent the co-owner from confronting me in the first place and attempting to humiliate me in front of my friends and falsely accusing me of disrespecting her business by ignoring the rules. I'll happily come in to discuss this issue with you if you remove your response to my reviews that accuse me of being rude. Check your store video. What would happen if a parent entered with children and a child had a children's sippy cup? Would they be subjected to a barrage of abuse also for bringing in a container? read more

I ordered to find out. What you get is a fully plastic water bottle covered in, you guessed it, some sort of paper covering. OMG. It's a fucking plastic water bottle that will be fouling the planet 100 years after I'm dead. What really bothered me was the menu description. "Good for the environment ". Dumbest thing ever. Pleases, please take this product off the menu. I've learned to never order drinks in a Greenville restaurant because 99% of the time it's all plastic. We absolutely love Coastal Fog. Our son is a student at ECU and lives across the street and introduced us on our last visit. Walking in is like walking into a spa with the most amazing things to buy and a fantastic restaurant inside. The options of the food and beverage choices are amazing but the taste of the food is off the chart. My immediate response was "we are eating here every day we are visiting". We did just that. I am amazed that there is such a gem in G'Vegas and am thrilled my sons apartment is so close. Food is okay. I had a chicken sandwich that I forget the name of but it was too much sweet on sweet. The chicken with the honey and a croissant for the bread was too much sweetness that needed a counter balance. It looks like they switched from counter culture to a South Carolina brand that was okay but kind of meh for the price. Everything is a little over priced for what you get. This is a very nice home interior store + cafe. I was in town on a rest day with my disaster relief team. We were looking for coffee and dessert and found this on our trusty yelp apps. The decor of the place is amazing. Ambiance is an A plus. For my post lunch dessert I simply went with a peanut butter chip cookie. Wow, fresh and well done. I did not do much picture taking for my NC visit as I wanted to just take my experience in. My bev was just a simple water. Teammates/friends went with various coffees and pastries and enjoyed. Over our President's Day weekend we decided to get away from Jacksonville, NC and check out Greenville North Carolina's coffee shops. Luckily we found Coastal Fog after a quick Yelp search and man did we hit the nail on the head. The ambience is a good balance between farmhouse and beach decor. In addition to the tasty food selections they have you may find yourself shopping around a bit. We shared the Turkey and Apple Panini with the lemon bar on the side, super good! (Lemon Bar could be a little more tart but over all still good) Also my wife tried the Lavender almond milk latte and I opted for the Ecuadorian pour over. Both of our drinks were de-lish and we are considering this to be a once a month getaway date spot. We are looking forward to future visits and trying more of their amazing menu options! read more

The store was absolutely beautiful and organized from its wine cabinet, the paints and household items. The little bird cage was cute too. After somehow ending up in Greenville, we decided to get coffee here. I ordered a London fog (earl grey tea with steamed almond milk) and a Mocha with Oat milk. My boyfriend and I also ordered a charcuterie board called the Inboard. it was the only charcuterie board that offered meats. When we got our order, I was surprised to see that the charcuterie board didn't come with crackers at all. The staff was super nice and gave me pieces of bread to go along with the three cheeses, two meats, nuts and fruit. My London fog was perfect. The almond milk wasn't burned and the tea wasn't over steeped or sweet. If you want it sweet, I recommend getting a shot of lavender or vanilla with it. The Mocha was quite disappointing. At first sip, I expected to taste the richness of the chocolate and nutty flavors of the espresso (their coffee is counter culture). Instead, the drink was sour from the under extracted espresso and wasn't super sweet or rich from the chocolate. I think the shop was just busy and the machine just needed to be dialed in. I also did notice that during a pour over one of the baristas we're doing, they didn't pre soak their filter which causes the coffee to have a paper, sour like taste. I understand that we are in the middle of a pandemic, but they should have been able to get their act together by now. First off, waited like 30 minutes just to get our meals...sandwiches, soup, and salads. They also missed one or the sandwich/soup combos and waited another 15 minutes to get that! Also the salads are a RIP-OFF...$10 for a "full" salad that was the same size as the half my mother ordered. I understand that you lost profits during pandemic, but don't screw the rest of us over. I think they are spending too much on the boxes and wrapped plastic silverware...I don't care about that! I want decent size portion and for it to come out in a reasonable amount of time. If you can't deliver a great lunch experience, maybe you should just focus on coffee and selling your home interior items instead? Actually seems like they are more interested in selling their decor, after looking at the place. Man at the front...maybe was a manager, was just kind of rude. We were short a set of plastic silverware and he made a snide remark that the plastic silverware was in the box...it wasn't, we were missing a set. The pandemic does not give you and excuse to provide a poorer customer experience. In my line of work, I am required to provide an even better customer/student experience during this pandemic. I would expect the same from other companies and service providers. Only reason I gave them 2 stars is because the food still tasted good. We came here about 9 months ago and it was great, which is why we returned. If I come back to Greenville, I won't be returning. Was going to get dessert, but we are going somewhere else. Coastal Fog is one of my favorite spots in downtown Greenville. The atmosphere is inviting and cute, if you will, and all food I've ever ordered from there has been so great. It is a place serving breakfast, sandwiches, soup, salad, etc. Light and refreshing food. It reminds me of a place I would like to take my mom when she visits. As you've probably read, there's also a store connected to it. This is great place to meet people for lunch or to sit alone and drink a coffee or alcoholic drink while working on your computer. Free WiFi is available, and the password is available in the lobby area for you to see and type in. I've heard a lot of people in my similar situation (i.e., graduate school) complain about the prices here. The prices are expensive. BUT it is comparable to other similar places that serve similar food and have a similar atmosphere. That said, I don't really find it unreasonable. It reminds me of many places I enjoy back in my hometown of Charleston, SC. I recommend this everyone try this place, at least once. read more

There's also a cute little table with cute little chairs on the corner for kids (as their moms meet at Coastal Fog for weekend brunch and mimosas). I had their matcha latte (non-dairy milk options available), and my boyfriend had their pour over (they serve Counter Culture coffee, which we are very familiar with coming from Durham).
