So even the desk was closing. So when this happens what goes on now. I waited over an hour for an officer to arrive to take a police report yesterday. Nothing was written down so I can only assume he has a great memory. He gave me a card which pointed me to Tucker, GA. I went there first only to be rerouted to Decatur, GA. I have no contact number or email for anyone. Yet all I want to do is amend the report. There must be a better system to this.

It was less than 1 mile from their dispatch location in Tucker. Not to mention that the responding officer called me for directions because he was at "a different location". What? It took 2-1/2 hours to "investigate" a 2-car fender-bender because, as the responding officer said to me, he was confused about what happened and had to call someone for help and explain to him what to do. Seriously? Shouldn't this have been covered in "Vehicle Accidents 101" at the Police Academy? More importantly, if he can't figure out his GPS, and if he doesn't know how to investigate a simple 2-car accident, should he really have a gun?

No reviews on this place? Are y'all afraid!?…read more As a "civilian" this building is pretty big but unless you're getting arrested or stalking men in uniform, this place is pretty basic on what it has to offer the public. If you need a copy of a police report, your criminal record or have always wanted a Cobb County Police mousepad, t-shirt or blanket, this is the place. The ladies behind the glass do not smile. I tried to make a joke by asking if the t-shirts came with handcuffs and I got the same stone face stare I received when I asked how her day was. You'll wait 20 minutes for the smallest request but it is what it is. Thankfully, they have little glass cases of police memorabilia to look at while you wait to be acknowledged by smiley behind the counter.

I just want to take a moment to say if common decency and respect to people just going about their day is too much for an officer to comply with then maybe you have a problem. Intimidation IS NOT OKAY. Additionally I saw the same officer pull people out of their car and then drive across breaking traffic laws with no lights on just because he could. People deserve better than this. It was in the may time frame of 2019 off galleria parkway.

My daughters car was parked in a parking lot after the accident. My daughter told the office that she had AAA towing. The officer insisted that she use American Towing, Inc. This company is now charging us $255 to get her car back. In addition, they will charge you $20 per day for ever day that they keep your car. This is one way that the City of Roswell is scamming its residents out of money. Carrie at American Towing said that they are contracted with the Roswell Police Department. She said that they arrive quickly and get the cars out of traffic. My daughter's car was not blocking traffic. It was parked in a parking lot. There was no reason that she could not have waited for AAA to arrive and tow the car to an auto body shop for free. The officer insisted that my daughter user American Towing so that they could charge us $255. I am furious!

I went to the Chamblee Police Station for a police ride-along. The process began with an email. I…read moreemailed the Police Department and my inquiry about ride-alongs was forwarded to the Assistant. Chief. He responded back to me via email pretty promptly and provided me with the forms that I needed to get the ball rolling. The first set of forms is to authorize a background check. The next set consists of release and permission waivers. Once the paperwork clears, the department then contacts you via email to schedule your ride time. Once your requested time is approved you report to the police department at the approved time. The typical ride-along lasts for 4 hours. When I reported to the designated check-in area on my scheduled date and time, I was asked to be seated until the Supervisor on duty came out with my assigned ride-along officer and further instruction. In about 2 minutes (or less) I was greeted by 3 officers; one of which was the officer that I was assigned to ride with, Officer Hidalgo. Before leaving the station, one of the three officers, Lieutenant Waasdorp, briefly went over some basic safety rules and instructions and then Officer Hidalgo and I were off. I rode with Officer Hidalgo as he responded to a couple of calls until he was called back to the station to be reassigned to another incident that required his assistance. I was then assigned to Officer Quarless. Both Officers Hidalgo & Quarless were GREAT! They did an excellent job explaining the process to me (what the radio call codes mean, what the incident reports entail, some of the procedures followed for specific types of calls) as I observed the way that they responded to the various situations that came up. They also were very thorough in answering questions that I had as I observed, and about things in general as a community resident. I really enjoyed this experience. I've always had a great appreciation for what the police do day-to-day to keep our communities safe that we as citizens sometimes take for granted. After this experience, I have an even greater understanding and appreciation of what a 'day in the life' of a cop in the field actually looks like. In today's climate of strained police and community relations due to a seemingly overwhelming amount of reports of police brutality, unjustified shootings, etc., it was refreshing to see firsthand that there are still good cops out there who truly just want to protect and serve in hopes that their efforts make a difference in the community. More importantly, (at least based on my interactions with the police in general and with MY local police department) I feel confident that these 'good' cops out-number the 'bad' ones. All in all, I appreciate that the department made my ride-along request a relatively simple and swift process to complete, and my experience an overall enjoyable and informative one. Thank you Assistant Chief Beller, Lieutenant Waasdorp, Officer Hidalgo, and Officer Quarless for taking the time out to educate and for getting me out and back safely!

I am writing this review after an extremely frustrating experience attempting to report what I…read morebelieve was a legitimate criminal matter involving my dogs, O.C.G.A. §16-10-20. In May 2025, my ex-wife refused to return my dogs to me and later falsely informed the DeKalb County Animal Shelter that I had died while deployed. I did not discover this until October 2025, when I received the official paperwork from the shelter. Upon learning this information, I immediately contacted the non-emergency line to file a police report. Unfortunately, the dispatcher I spoke with was dismissive, rude, and openly attempted to determine on her own what constituted a criminal matter versus a civil issue before a report was even taken. She also never identified herself during the call. After several months of repeated attempts to obtain assistance, I finally received a callback from Officer Brandon White. He reluctantly took my report and contacted me one time afterward, stating he had contacted dispatch and was heading to the shelter. After that, I never heard from him again despite multiple follow-up emails over the course of several months. Due to the lack of response, I escalated the matter through the chain of command and contacted Deputy Andrianne Byrd, providing documentation regarding the incident and the absence of investigative follow-up. I did not receive a response from Deputy Byrd. Lieutenant Guy Antinozzi later left me a voicemail, but despite returning his call three times and leaving two voicemail messages, I never received a callback. As of today, I still have not received meaningful communication or resolution from this department. My concern is not simply the outcome of the case, but the complete lack of professionalism, communication, and accountability throughout the process. Based on my experience, the level of responsiveness and follow-through from this agency has been deeply disappointing.

On Monday, I attended a CRASE presentation by Officer King of the Marietta Police Department. CRASE…read morestands for Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events -- basically, what we as civilians should do in response to an active shooter before law enforcement arrives. This presentation was free to anyone who worked at the office complex where I work and was organized through WellStar Health System (who is a tenant in our complex). Given that mass killings by gunmen continue to rise in America, I thought it'd be a good idea to go just in the rare case my friends/family and I ever found ourselves in such a situation. However, it should be be noted that currently, the chances of someone getting shot in an active shooter event are worse than getting struck by lightning. The presentation lasted 1 hour. Officer King spoke for about 45 minutes and then left about 15 minutes for questions and answers. The presentation included a lot of real audio, video, pictures, and diagrams of incidents that have occurred in the past such as the Columbine High School massacre (1999), The Station nightclub fire (2003), the Virginia Tech shooting (2007), and the Panama City school board shootings (2010). The purpose of bringing up each real-life incident was not to scare us, but to teach us. There was something to be learned from how people responded to each incident. If people had responded to the threats differently, more lives would have been saved. Here are some takeaways I had from the presentation: 1. Wherever you are -- home, office, school, restaurant, store, etc. -- always know your exits. Where you came in from isn't necessarily how you're going to leave. Don't necessarily follow and go where everyone else is running to to escape. Be smart and think about alternative/best exits. 2. After calling 911, on average, it takes 3 minutes for law enforcement to arrive on the scene. 3. Don't hide and hope. At Virginia Tech, over 20 students were shot and killed while in the fetal position. By curling up under their desks, they didn't give themselves much of a chance to survive. 4. Don't be in denial of what's happening. You have to act and quickly. 5. If you can't escape, lock doors and barricade yourself. Try to buy as much time as possible before law enforcement arrive. Shooters are working against the clock and will take the path of least resistance to find people to kill. Even something as simple as locking a door could save your life. 6. Fight back. Rally the troops. Overpower the shooter. Try to disarm the shooter and take away their sight and breathing. Don't fight fair. Do whatever it takes to survive. Use whatever you have around you. For example, if you have a pen, you can use it to poke the shooter's eyeballs out. We watched some training videos of a simulated gunman entering a classroom. The class did simple things like standing a desk vertically in front of the classroom door to confuse and distract the gunman when he entered, even for just a split second, before disarming and attacking him. The presentation could have easily gone on longer, but 1 hour is all we were scheduled for. Parts of the presentation did feel rushed. There were no handouts nor could I find the presentation online. I think it would be helpful if the presentation/slides were available online. Luckily, you can search YouTube for CRASE and find other CRASE training videos online. Towards the end of the presentation, Officer King advised us to buy small trauma kits. In the case of a mass shooting, there likely will not be enough first responders to tend to everyone who gets shot, so trauma kits, with simple instructions, can make a big difference. Thank you to the Marietta Police and WellStar for offering this presentation to everyone in our office complex.
