    Iced Coffee
    Margo A.

I stopped into Cobblestones on a trip to Boston, and I thought it was cute, with the potential to be even better. The coffee selection was a little disappointing, with no seasonal options or flavor options beyond syrups. But, overall, the coffee was flavorful. Service was great. The person behind the counter was very personable and made great recommendations. I got my breakfast sandwich relatively quickly, and it was good, but I noticed that it was served on a pretty badly chipped plate. This could be hazardous, so I would like to see an improvement there in the future. The food and service were overall good at Cobblestones. I think with some redecorating and slight rebranding, it could become a Beacon Hill staple. The interior doesn't currently match the vibe of Beacon Hill, but I think this could be a pretty easy change to make. I would also like to see an improvement on the coffee menu. They could give Tatte a run for their money if a seasonal menu were available!

Although I love the breakfast sandwiches and açaí bowls here, I was disappointed to find that their grab-and-go options are overpriced and not worth it. It was $4 for a tiny container of berries and $8 for a yogurt parfait with barely any toppings. Although it's in a convenient location near the public garden, I will head to the Trader Joe's or Whole Foods nearby for my grab-and-go items instead.

Tried Cobblestones through a catering option at work and was pleasantly surprised. I got the pear and Gouda sandwich and added turkey--great flavor combo, and even with the added meat, the price was still lower than what I typically pay at similar spots in the area. They also included side options like small containers of fresh fruit, which I really appreciated. Everything tasted fresh, the portions were just right, and I'd definitely order from here again. Solid option for lunch, especially if you're looking for something a little different than the usual.

Great food in a quaint café right on the corner. It obviously is a community favorite. The breakfast was incredible and the pastries were wonderful. The coffee was really good too. If I lived here, I would frequent this place multiple times a week. The staff are very friendly as well.

Parking is hard to find, we were walking by around the area so easily accessible. No restroom or hand sanitizer. Place feels small, they do have outdoor seating but it's closed if it had rained. I thought it was pricey for a simple meal. Sandwhich was $16 and drink was $9. Don't get me wrong the meatball sub and drink was delicious! I got full with half(easily shareable). My sister liked the colonial sub but didn't like the Arnold Palmer.

Brief Summary: - Coffee is not sour - Indoor and outdoor seating available The day was hot and after walking for some time we needed a place to rest -- for more walking. After making some good walks around Beacon Hill, this cafe at a corner of one of the streets lured us in. There were some tables outside, but there were more inside, including a bar stool like area. We had no appetite except for cold drinks and desserts, so we ordered iced coffee and ice cream. The coffee wasn't sour but without any cream or sugar additions, it was a condensed coffee. However, we also ordered this with ice cream, so its sweetness balanced it out. We sat near the bear tables that lined up against the windows, so I enjoyed the relaxation of sipping iced coffee and observing people walking past.

A wonderful little Cafe for breakfast, lunch, or just a snack. Stopped in for a coffee during a morning rain. Got a latte with oat milk, and it was so well prepared. Fresh ground and ever so good. It definitely hit the spot. The staff was very friendly and kind. The offerings look wonderful and highly recommend it.

    Vanilla Latte

We stopped here for brunch one morning. It's not too far from the MGH redline stop or from Boston Commons. I didn't find their latte selection to be very broad or full of seasonal flavors, but they do offer the basics. I had their pear and Gouda grilled cheese which was delicious. It comes with a nice fig spread which brings alot of flavor. Between the Gouda and pear, it is the perfect blend of sweet and savory. Highly recommend. My husband had the breakfast burrito and said it was okay. He didn't feel as though it was packed with flavor and felt it was missing a sauce - maybe like a chipotle sauce. He had a vanilla latte and I had a cappuccino. My cappuccino was pretty good. My husband enjoyed his vanilla latte but I would say if you only want a coffee- this isn't the place for you. As for seating, you can sit both inside or outside. There is not much service. You purchase your meal, they deliver it and then never come back to check on you. I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing- more so- it's just how they are designed.

We walked into a space that mixes communal tables, stadium-style seating, and smaller spots to sit, making it a place where you can stop in for a quick drink or stay longer with a laptop. The interior design is one of the biggest highlights, giving the cafe a more elevated experience compared to a typical coffee shop. The tiered seating in particular creates a visual dynamic that makes the room feel more intentional than your standard coffee counter. The drinks are the main focus here, especially the matcha, hojicha, and espresso-based options. We ordered the hojicha latte, which was one of the strongest items on the menu, with a deep roasted flavor and a smooth texture. The matcha has a more traditional earthy profile and leans less sweet, which works well if you prefer a more authentic matcha taste. The drinks are on the expensive side, but the quality of the ingredients and preparation make it feel more like a specialty cafe experience rather than a standard coffee stop. The food and dessert options add another reason to visit, with items like the egg sandwich, quiche, macarons, and hojicha desserts available depending on the day. The menu is smaller compared to a full brunch cafe, but it pairs well with the drinks and gives the visit more of a cafe-and-pastry feel. Service is friendly and the staff are knowledgeable about the drinks, which helps when choosing between the different Japanese tea options. The cafe can get busy, and seating is limited compared to the number of people who come through, but the layout gives it a unique character. Ogawa Coffee works well for specialty coffee and tea lovers looking for a more intentional cafe experience in Boston, especially if you enjoy Japanese-style drinks and a thoughtfully designed space.

We weren't sure how to enter, so we started in the bookstore and found their convenient elevator downstairs! The restaurant is tiny but cozy, which is the perfect atmosphere for a book store! We sat outside in the little courtyard and it's a mix of magical and relaxing! There were only a few tables, so it wasn't overcrowded and with nice weather, it was perfect. I had a salad with salmon on the side which was delicious - and the ginger lemonade - wonderful! From buttered noodles to seafood, everything was executed well. The staff didn't rush us even though they were busy - and they had to give really long wait times to a number of others, but we still weren't rushed. I would highly recommend reservations, but even without we were treated very well. We walked into a building with the kind of architectural character that chain bookstores cannot manufacture, with small rooms opening into each other across multiple floors, wallpapered walls, and reading nooks distributed throughout that invite you to slow down rather than move through quickly. The book selection is well curated with staff recommendation cards on the shelves that actually reflect genuine enthusiasm rather than perfunctory notes. We saw limited edition hardcovers and local and regional titles appearing alongside the broader fiction and nonfiction selection. Browsing felt productive rather than overwhelming because the curation kept things focused. The kids section upstairs is one of the more delightful in Boston, with a train running along a track near the ceiling that tends to make a strong impression on younger visitors. There is also an art print vending machine on the second floor that draws its own audience of visitors looking for something small and specific to take home. The cafe occupies the lower level and operates as a separate experience from the bookshop above. We ordered the oat milk cappuccino with Vermont maple syrup, which was worth it. The morning glory scone and the popovers are two other items to consider. The cafe is tiny, around eight tables inside with a small patio, and reservations are recommended for breakfast and afternoon tea service. Pricing at the cafe is on the higher end, and certain fixed price service formats on specific dates push it considerably further, so checking current pricing before booking is worth doing. For a bookshop that doubles as a destination in its own right, Beacon Hill Books and Cafe delivers a cozy, curated experience that rewards lingering. It is the kind of place we would return to just to sit and read with a good coffee.
