green papaya salad: cherry tomato, peanuts, chili dressing + beans = $15

I've dined here twice in a very short time frame - it's that good. Non-negotiable for me are the curry puffs ($14 for 2pcs). They're puffed pastries filled with curried split peas & potatoes served with a pickled onion tamarind ketchup. Absolute fire. The pastry puff is so buttery and fluffy and the curried split pea + potato filling is so satisfyingly filling. Also on that list are grilled prawns ($21 for 3 pcs). They are marinated in a ginger & yellow bean sauce that really enhances the sweetness of the prawns. The best part is probably the head, but of course that's not for everyone. Delish. We've dabbled all over and tried a ton of their entrees, but I keep going back to the beef rendang ($28). The beef is so tender and flavorful. Even without a ton of sauce, it's so good over the bed of rice. Highly recommend. You should also order the chili & sambal sampler ($7). It's such a good compliment to any of the dishes you happen to order. They're also fun eaten on a prawn chip as well. The patio gives secret garden which is so cute. They also do offer tasting situation so it's a great way to sample their menu - I've never met a dish I didn't love at Cobi's.

Cobi's is a beautiful restaurant with pan-Asian cuisine that definitely lives up to the hype. Upon walking in, it felt like I was entering into a secret fairy garden turned upscale, trendy restaurant. The decor is charming, feminine, and whimsical. I arrived a couple minutes earlier than my reservation time and was seated right away. Our server was friendly, gave an explanation of the menu, and checked in consistently to make sure we were taken care of. To start I had the papaya salad and the pork dumplings. I loved the papaya salad as it was tangy, spicy, and lightly sweet. The pork dumplings were standard dumplings that were elevated with the texture of crispy shallots on top. I got the African curry with roti as my main dish, which was insanely rich. I enjoyed the roasted peanut flavor combined with the African spices. However, I did struggle to even eat half of the curry due to its decadence. The roti was buttery, flakey, and a great pairing with the curry. I tried a bite of my friend's beef rendang and it was tender and packed with flavor. For drinks, I had the lychee blossom and the sour cherry fizz. Both were creative and delicious cocktails.

Honestly, really good and on par with LA quality food! I went during lunch on a Sunday. I loved sitting outside in the patio surrounded by pretty flowers. I would say the food gave more southeast asian flavors with more of an american palate. I was hoping to see more indian flavors. The standouts were the beef rendang roti. I also got the fried chicken, which my husband loved. The pork belly baos were just okay. I also loved the crispy rice salad, and was a great idea for me to incorporate at home. I would go again, especially using my Resy!

what a cute spot!! came in without a reservation on a saturday, but we were seated within 5 minutes ~ i was reuniting with my college roomies and we shared such a lovely meal + catch up sesh here ^_^ the atmosphere was amaze, i loved the outdoor seating! also LOVED the pork belly bao bun -- the flavors blended together very harmoniously :3 i wasn't the biggest fan of the chicken satay... but we ended with the bali banana pancakes and that was super yummy!

I finally made it to Cobi's, and it's every bit as delicious and aesthetic as people say! The Service: I was really impressed by how attentive the staff was. Despite being a popular spot, the service was seamless and the food came out incredibly quick without feeling rushed. The Food: We started with the Kampachi, and that coconut drizzle is so good and fresh. The Pork Dumplings were another highlight; the crispy onions add such a satisfying texture. For the mains, the Beef Rendang is a must-order. It's marinated in sambal and is the ultimate comfort food when paired with the curry dip and a side of buttery roti. However, the too bite of the entire evening was definitely the Beef Short Ribs. They literally fell off the bone--you don't even need a knife! The sweet chili and tamarind dressing is perfectly balanced. We also loved the Nasi Goreng, which was packed with flavor. The Dessert: My husband, who usually doesn't even like dessert, loved the Thai Tea Pudding. While the pudding itself was delicious and full of flavor, the boba left a little to be desired for me personally.

My partner and I came by with our dog on Sunday for this outdoor brunch. The little Patio is very cute and quiet. We didn't have reservation so it took about 20 mins for us to get seated. The menu is fairly small which I like. I'm always a big fan of non traditional brunch food. We shared the fried chicken, rice noodle and the roti wraps. All were good except just somewhat too salty for my taste. Overall we enjoyed the food and would love to come back to try their dinner menu.

After three of my coworkers raved to me about Cobi's, I was finally in the Santa Monica area (actually just doing Pilates right next door), and I decided to pique my interest and confirm if the hype was real. Despite not having a reservation on a busy weekend lunch, the host was able to promptly seat me (a solo diner) in the outdoor garden area, which was beautifully decorated with flowers and bird-themed motifs. My server was honestly amazing - providing genuinely kind, attentive service and thoughtful recommendations that were well-tailored to my personal tastes. I ended up ordering a lavender flavored take on the pina colada, which I reminded me of my favorite Salt and Straw honey lavender ice cream, and was well-balanced while being strong. The shrimp char kway teow was also incredible - the fresh rice noodles were perfectly stir-fried so that they were still soft while being very flavorful, and came with quite a generous amount of large prawns. It's hard to find a spot that serves up incredibly curated, authentic South Asian food while having standout service and beautiful dining spaces in West LA, and I'm definitely adding this spot to my list of favorite Santa Monica restaurants and heading back soon to try more of their dinner menu!

Cobi's is such a gem if you're craving Thai/Malaysian/Southeast Asian flavors in a really cozy, pretty setting. The ambiance feels warm and intimate..perfect for a date night or a chill dinner with friends. Service was good throughout, and there's a small bar right when you walk in, which sets the vibe immediately. Parking: Mostly street meter parking in the area, so give yourself a few extra minutes. Drinks: We tried the Lychee Blossom and it was pretty good..light, refreshing, and easy to sip with the food. What we ordered: Starters * Kampachi -- this was the only thing I didn't like and wouldn't order again. The fish itself was fresh, but the sauce combo didn't work for me. It was a lemongrass coconut sauce, which was actually delicious on its own, but I felt like it didn't pair well with the fish. I would've preferred something more bright and citrusy with kampachi. * Curry puffs -- sooo good. Basically like a samosa, and they come with a dipping sauce that made them even better. Mains / Sides * Butter chicken -- delicious, comforting, flavorful. * Roti bread -- must get (especially if you're sharing). * Grilled prawns -- amazing, and the sauce was fantastic. We were dipping the roti in it... chef's kiss. * Nasi goreng -- delish. Basically a really good fried rice situation with tons of flavor. * Green papaya salad -- super refreshing and bright, a perfect balance with the richer dishes. Overall, everything was great minus the kampachi sauce pairing for me. I'd absolutely come back to try more of the menu (and next time, maybe even dessert).

Perfectly delicious meal with the cutest vibes for a catch up with a friend. It does get quite busy and reservations are highly recommended! Got seated at the patio which had such a charming, cozy, and intimate vibe. We did the Chef's selection menu which is known to be "chefs choice, best of the best" and it truly lived up to it. If you're unsure of what to order or want to experience what the top favorites are would recommend going on the same journey I did. Loved the variety of food that we got to try which were all bursting with flavors. The drink options were fun as well and paired well with our food. The servers are all incredible with great attention to detail and friendliness. Such a wonderful dining experience! Parked at a nearby street meter parking which there's plenty of. Be mindful of the signs though as some are only for 15 minutes. Can't wait to come back!

Absolutely worth the try! If you like Southeast Asian food (Thai, Vietnam etc) then you will love Cobi's. Street parking with meters available. Make sure you're reading the signs. Some are 3hr limit and others are 15 min limit. Dinner ambiance is intimate, lowlight candle vibes with a boutique feel. Very cute! Our server was Jip who immediately greeted us with a warm personality and got us to try all the yummy dishes they were known for. Shoutout to Cam and Jonathan who also helped us! The food is crazy good. You MUST try the Scallop in Half Shell (it comes 2 ways), the Kampachi (coconut lemongrassy sauce is divine), and the Grilled Prawns (get the 4pc option, you won't regret it). Can't go wrong with Butter Chicken which absolutely hit and a side of Rice & Roti. Their desserts are simple and sweet. We tried the soft serve, Thai boba pudding, and the strawberry shaved ice. The soft serve was the best :) Can't wait to come back and try more! Thanks Cobi's!

Fantastic late-notice res dinner made the start of my work trip feel like a vacay. Cute building on the corner, nice decor, cozy, and so loud & lively it felt like a Friday. Glad I booked via Resy. Place was packed to the gills with a walk-in line outside. Food was great. Highly recommend getting an order of curry puffs (2) and and order of roti per person. Good mix of veg and non-veg options. Got the Beef Rendang and the Mister Dal. Both leaned salty, but undoubtedly flavorful. Went very well with the roti. Perfect amount of food to get two people full. The staff looked stretched pretty thin. After we got seated, we waited quite a while before we got our order taken and they basically didn't return til checkout. Understandable, but noticeable. 4/5, would return again next time I'm in the area. Had a good time, was very full, and glad I went Plenty of dessert spots around the block open late FYI. Gelato on every block.

The whole spread! This was the perfect amount of food for four.

Everything at Cobi's is stellar from start to finish. The service is up there with the best I've ever had, the ambiance is perfect for a date night or family-style dinner with friends, and the food...don't even get me started! I've loved every single menu item I've tried here but the standouts are the Butter Chicken and Beef Short Rib. If you're not looking to splurge on the Short Rib, the Beef Rendang is great too. Or do what we did and get both! You can't go wrong here and I love that they pay attention to the details--every plate and bowl is unique, food is served in courses, the wallpaper and flower ceilings make a fun but sophisticated atmosphere. Cobi's is my new favorite restaurant in Santa Monica!

If you are seated indoor just be warned that the tables are extremely close to each other and everyone is shouting basically. It's extremely loud inside, others can't hear you unless you are shouting. The food is good but priced high. Service is quick and friendly.

I don't know what there is to not like about Wallflower! Underrated ratings in my opinion.

I went there thinking I'm just going to buy 2 items max. Wrong! This place, unlike many places around the area takes credit cards. There goes all my money! Lol. I ended up with a basketful of food. I just couldn't help it. I ate them, not all, as soon as I got home and each one of them was delicious and authentic. I know this will be a stop for me whenever I visit LA. They're just that good.

They really keep the authenticity and quality at a high level. The food is amazing and every dish we have tried has been consistently good. It can get a little pricey if you order a bunch of dishes with a group but it is completely worth it for the quality you are getting. One nice bonus is their loyalty program. If you spend over 50 dollars they give you a stamp card and once you collect ten stamps you get around 20 dollars off or a free dish. Definitely a good incentive to keep coming back. If you are looking for authentic Indonesian food in the Rosemead area I honestly do not think there is a better option than Medan Kitchen. Highly recommend giving it a try.

Of course, I had to order their rendang dish with their nasi kuning (yellow rice)/coconut rice mix and side of tempe. And of course, es cendol was a must! It was absolutely delicious!! Being a fellow indo, it's often hard to come by good rendang that's not made in someone's home kitchen :) All to say, I was pleasantly surprised to find such good indo food in Upland. Definitely coming back to try everything else on the menu! Logistics: decent amount of seating with a cute cafe feel, card/cash accepted, easy parking, and kind staff

I've been to many Indonesian restaurants. I've been to Indonesia. My parents have been here but it's been awhile. I really wanted to like this place. The prices are pretty high for what you get. The food was ok. I will go elsewhere for my Indonesian fix next time. Pastel 3/5 was a bit chewy. It didn't have the flakiness that I like. Nasi Goreng 3/5 it was just ok Otak otak 4/5 pretty close to home. I liked it Laksa 3/5 lacked flavor

The rice was flavorful along side the well cooked meat. It came with an egg, spicy peanuts, and a coquette. You can order at the counter or at the table. Though, if you're unfamiliar, it's worth it to ask the staff for details especially for the items listed on the daily special since there's no descriptor on those. The place also serves as a mini grocery for Indonesian items if you want to make it at home. It does give homely vibes with a sense of community. Will definitely come back to try the other dishes like the satay. Fun fact, they were part of the original food court but now have their own space.

They serve authentic Indonesian foods that remind me of Jakarta. Today I was really craving Ayam Goreng Kremes, because it's been many years since the last time I had it. Nasi Ayam Kremes is a combination of Indonesian style fried chicken, white rice, perkedel (fried potato pattie), fried tofu, fried tempeh, and sayur asem soup. The chicken is deep fried after it's been cooked in herbs and fully marinated. Very flavorful as I can really taste the different herbs and spices. Over the fried chicken is a generous serving of savory crunchy crumbs. There's also a side of medium spicy house sambal. I would recommend adding some kecap manis (Indonesian sweet soy sauce) and use this as dipping sauce. The half fried chicken is rather small, about the size of a Cornish hen. The soup is pretty good, even though I am not a fan of sayur asem soup. This tamarind-based soup contains green beans, chayote, corn rounds, and peanuts. The deep fried marinated tofu and tempeh are so yummy! They truly remind me of the good ol' days living in Indonesia, as they are the staple foods of the locals. The perkedel is just passable, possibly because it is served cold. Unfortunately, it isn't as crispy as it should be. The restaurant is small. Other than the kitchen crew, only one person was doing all the work. Good and very friendly service. My order did take a long time, however. If you're in a rush, you may want to eat somewhere else. Indo Bistro is the place where you really want to "santai" which means relax, take it easy. Indo Bistro is an Indonesian restaurant, mini-mart hybrid. They sell a variety of pre-packaged Indonesian snacks, shelf stable groceries, and also freshly-made market snacks, such as pastel, lemper, bakcang, rempeyek, etc. I also tried their savory snack Lemper, which is sticky rice stuffed with shredded chicken that's been cooked in coconut milk. After it is wrapped in fresh banana leaf, it is then char-grilled. Their lemper is really good, but very greasy. It's basically food and lip gloss in one. BOGO Lol Next time when I'm craving more Indonesian food, I'll be coming back to Indo Bistro. They have really good chicken satays.
