After waiting several days for some kind of contact from an insurance company, I contacted the insurance company myself even though Justin had told me not to talk to anyone. I was told they were waiting for paperwork from lawyer's office. Called Justin's office to be told he was out of town. The paralegal, Chris, helped me override Justin's absence & get the necessary paperwork to them. I felt as if my little case was not important at all & was met with payment demands before I could meet with him to collect the check I had gotten that was sent to him. Said I would pay them out of the check received so they deposited in their account & wrote me a check from their account minus what they billed me. Legal? Not sure.

The lawyer was fired from this firm right after my case, and failed to give me any indication that my settlement was waiting at the business location (Wesley Scott's office). A MONTH PASSED! I finally had to inquire about the funds myself, because no one bothered to tell me they were available. When I called my lawyer he blamed his secretary for not notifying me for over a month. When I went to pick up my settlement check from Wesley Scott, it was significantly lower than the agreed upon amount. Wesley Scott responded to this negligence by having his "financial guy" give me a call and essentially tell me I signed a paper, so I'm an idiot if I didn't understand what I was signing. When I explained that MY lawyer, who worked for HIS lawfirm, who HE had since fired for negligence, told me I HAD to sign, and did not explain any other details, it was unreasonable to expect me to know legal jargon that you literally hire a lawyer to read and decipher! From there Wesley Scott ignored me and gave me the run around for over a week, until I finally just went to collect my settlement that was $5000 short. It is frustrating to go from a business situation where you were taken advantage of, only to be taken advantage of by lawyers that you hire. I would say Wesley Scott and those that work for him, definitely live up to the stigma that lawyers are snakes in the grass: They care about making a buck and they'll treat you like ( and apparently also call you) the stupid cash cow they see you as. It's disgusting. Again, I do not recommend the Law Offices of Wesley Scott, or any one that may be affiliated with him. Unless of course you want the headache and less money than you were promised.

Estate planning is hard, confusing, and sometimes downright sad. We recently had to quickly update…read morepaperwork after discovering they were very out of date for content, and have it completed prior to a loved one having surgery. Shane Johnson and his staff were awesome! He was very thorough, took his time to make sure that the updates were done according to my loved one's wishes, and was very ethical with his work. He worked overtime, as did his assistant and even his wife to make sure everything was done in time for the surgery. I was beyond impressed. Now that we are no longer in "panic mode" we are going to meet again and see if there are any other changes that would be beneficial for my loved one.
