I was greeted by the young woman behind the counter, very friendly. I believe her name is Denielys. I was craving for Tostones and Chicharrón. They didn't have Chicharrón, but they offered instead to cook Tostones y Fried Pork Chunks. Perfect! Waited a few minutes and my meal was prepared. Have been wanting to try this spot out for quite some time now, and finally had the opportunity. Went with the shredded chicken plate, medium, with yellow rice and beans ($9.50). WOW! The food was absolutely fantastic, delicious, and very filling. I was only able to eat half - great portions for the price. Fast service too - I was in and out within 3 minutes. Friendly staff too! My only regret now, is not trying this place out sooner. I also got a beef and cheese empanada ($2.50). First things first, this was a perfect meal! The pricing for the portions they give are great. But they go far beyond trying to win you over with generous portions. I ordered the shredded chicken and yellow rice, with beans and sweet plantains on the side. The shredded chicken was flavored well and cooked perfectly. The rice was also cooked amazingly. One thing that I like the most was that even though I ordered it online the only thing cook/prepared ahead of time was the fried plantains. I liked this because my food was hot and ready having been put in The container when I arrived. I waited for maybe 1 min, the hardest part was driving home smelling the food!!! Then this restaurant intervened, and saved my life, and made me a "good boy". And I'll tell you why, simply, concisely, in one sentence. It's because you haven't had a "coc ina latina" until you've put some "coc ina latina" in your mouth. Now there's only one Latina for me, I'll never go back. I'll only ever do coc ina latina from here. I've been converted. Thank you, amigos. What to get: The Shredded Chicken dish is *amazing*, a small is under $7, always get yellow rice w/ beans. And: Pernil and beef stew are good. And?: They have some interesting Boricuan hot sauces on the side counter. If it was owned by Francis Ford, it'd be Coppola Latina. I've tried almost everything they sell. The mother is the friendliest woman ever and is massively proud of her food, and rightly so. When I go in there she gives me samples of all of it. Awesome. Her good-looking daughter has a little attitude, but she's still helpful if you ask her questions. If you feel unwelcome, it's not you. It's just her demeanour. You know some younger people are "too cool" for niceties. It's okay. It's a family business. The mama - who cooks all this stuff - is nice enough for the both of them ;) If her ex hubs Ike keeps insisting she's Peruvian but is having a hard time Peruvian it, then Mr. Turner, it seems, is trying to Call-Tina Latina. So the Beef Stew is really good. It's not amazing, but then I haven't had a Puerto Rican Res Guisado (Beef Stew) that was. This one is up there with the better ones I've had. Very tasty and good quality meat. And the cube steak is good, but I found it to be too vinegary and wasn't crazy about the ground meat. The teeny girl said it was one of her 2 faves which is why I tried it. But her other fave - the shredded chicken - was off-the-charts good. I got sued for this review by someone in Salvador. It's a Subpoena Latina. The Pernil is another matter. It's juicy, succulent, homestyle, delicious. The yellow rice makes the dish. It's greasy and a little juicy and sticky at the same time. Puerto Rican rice is often too bland for me - especially if white. But this CL stuff, as long as you get the beans n juice all over it - will do you right. When you choose Coc ina Latina, you can be sure that Coc will do you right. I like Venezuelan dancers. I'm not just referring to strippers, I was actually thinking of a Ballerina Latina. Among the 2 or 3 different types of chicken they have, is teen girl's fave: Shredded Chicken. I haven't seen this at most other PR places I've eaten, but my goodness it might be the best PR dish I've ever had. It's literally from heaven. If they only sold Coffee, it'd be Caffeina Latina. For shredded chicken: she shreds it a little so it's stringy and separated, but retains all of its juice and soft texture... and then drowns it in spicy, tangy, rich, flavourful sauce that I can't even describe. Some sort of tomato-chili-pepper combination thing which is unlike anything else I've had before. I'm absolutely addicted. I think she invented this version of this dish because I've never had anything anywhere else that tastes like it. If it was a members-only bulk sales store in Mexico City, it'd be Costco Latina. They recently randomly closed for a week for a holiday, so bear in mind that with little family businesses it's always best to call ahead just in case. If you're walking on sunshine in Ecuador and your band is the Waves, then you may be Katrina Latina. So get yourself up here to the corner where CL is hiding, it's right next to Perri's Pizza up in Greece, near Carmine's, Davies Seafood and from the Charlotte Beach area of the Lake. If you're a Mexican caterpillar, then you may need to Cocoon-a Latina. Easily one of the best and best-value restaurants in RNY. The shredded chicken is effortlessly and clearly one of the 5 best-tasting meals you'll get in town, try it for yourself and please let me know what you think. And if you like Hispanic girls and being beaten up or treated badly, then hire a Domina Latina. Which describes my gf not just to a tee, but to a U, a V, a W, X, Y and ZZZZ (it's 4.23am, I'm tired like a formula one race car). And if you are at a Harbor in Puerto Rico, that's a Marina Latina. Although that sounds like a name for my gf's naughty place. And I have to be honest. I have never seen a better Coochona Latina than my gf when she's at Cocina Latina. read more

Very delicious latin food...with a simple menu, Priced right. Portions- very generous. Choice of small, med, large. My brother got a medium and he has a big appetite like me...and was satisfied. I got the Large and i was more than satisfied. In a large you get to pick a meat entree and it comes with rice(yellow rice n beans or white rice) and then it comes with a side of pink beans which are just the most tasty beans i have ever had in my life. The pork chops are Amazing. The Pork Shoulder is Great. The beef stew...Best beef stew i have ever had. The Yellow rice and beans...is better than 2 other latin restaurants i have been to. Arguably the best thing about Greece is Cocina Latina. Their food is incredible. I married into a Puerto Rican family and this food is the closest to grandma's (if not better). The family/staff who own the restaurant are all wonderfully friendly.. but even if they weren't I would be here all the time - reminder this food is outstanding. Easy to miss if you're just driving by but it is worth it to stop in. Think.... Chipotle... but just better in every sense. The rice is always cooked to perfection. They have white and yellow I always opt for the yellow. Next your meats pork, baked chicken, shredded chicken, beef and chicken stew, you can not go wrong with any of them and the portions.... HUGE. Tons of side dishes to compliment your meal from empanadas to deserts and side salads. Their drink choices are a great mix local flavors and traditional Hispanic drinks. My wife usually gets the small size and can get two meals out of it. I always have to start with 2 empanadas and a medium sized meal and I always have 2 meals worth of food. The staff? The best. This is definitely a take-out restaurant. The place is located in a small plaza on a corner street, and has a very small space for customers. Though the last time I was there, there was a small round table near the door, good enough for 2. The owner is super friendly also. Make sure you get there before 4ish because they run out of the fritters quickly. We ordered quite a bit since we wanted to try almost everything. We got the shredded chicken and pork shoulder, both large sizes. The portions definitely are huge, and comes with rice and beans. The shredded chicken does live up to the hype. Very tender and flavorful, and the rice that came with it was so fluffy and soft. Super yummies! The pork resembles a less finely shredded pork dish. I found it to be way too salty, the rice helped with that but it wasn't my favorite. It was also a little dry. As for the beans, I don't usually eat beans so that all went to my boyfriend. I wanted sweet plantains but by the time I got there, they ran out. I got the fried plantains instead, along with potato ball and a beef and chicken empanada. The fried plantains were disappointing, way too dry and it probably was made at the beginning of the day and left sitting at the assembly line. The mayo it came with was good though. The potato ball is very overpriced for what you get. Though good, the portion consists of just one potato ball. The empanadas were ok. My favorite was the beef, which had good flavor and seasoned well. The chicken was tasteless and not worth the grease. This is the best Latin American food in Rochester. It is take-out only with huge portions. Everything is always fresh. I usually go with the beef & cheese empanada ($1.75) and the medium yellow rice (arroz con gandules) with beans added and the pork shoulder (pernil). The medium ends up being about 4 meals, which I split between my lady and I. I get the small at times, and that ends up being about 2 large portions. There are a lot of other choices, but this is so good that I have not strayed away. I see a lot of people get the chicken stew and beef stew. I have been here about 6 times and have never been let down. read more

This place has good food sometimes the meat is very salty, the empanadas are really expensive for being so small, but everything else and their yellow rice is bangin. The girls that work there always hook up the plates really good, the older lady that works there is mad cheap with the food. If she's the one serving just leave because you're not gunna get your money's worth. They also REALLY need to do something about that parking lot theres a million pot holes and nowhere to park every time I go there I feel like I'm going to get a flat or mess up my car somehow. They let the customers use the parking lot adjacent to the building because obviously the customers spend money in their business, but when it comes to getting the parking lot fixed for their customers, it's not their problem? (It's probably that one lady being cheap again! )The only reasons I don't give this place 5 stars is because That one lady's mad cheap, sometimes the food is over salted and that parking lot sucks. Don't count on picking up food there for dinner. I arrived at 5:45 in order to pick up two large rice and bean meals. A woman who works there told me they ran out of rice, and if I had called first, she would've set my order aside. When I repeated that next time I should call, she said, "We do close in fifteen minutes." When I was in Rochester, I decided to hunt down Cocina Latina. I had a pretty rough day so why not engorge myself on empanadas and shredded chicken? Yum. This place is so unsuspecting, I had to blink a few times to make sure that the sign I was reading was indeed for Cocina Latina. I zipped into the parking lot, shared by a pizza place with bright and shiny lights that overshadow Cocina Latina's sign and made my way inside. I was instantly in love! The interior was so cozy and I was greeted kindly by the owner. Unfortunately she didn't have shredded chicken, but what I did try was amazing. The empanada was the best I have ever had. Freshly cooked beef sizzling from the inside of a fried casing. You can't get much better than that! Along with my empanada, I also had the pernil which was very tasty and a very large quantity of rice. Everything was delicious! I love the shredded chicken and it sells out fast! Their rice and bean sauce is the best and from what I understand is the owner/husband does a lot the seasoning and prep of meat and the owner/wife runs the rest of the business.
