However it is still predominantly a vegetable shop and although it now sells sausages and bacon it doesn't have an extensive butchery department like some farm shops. However what it does it does well. A good variety of veg, lots of it local including potatoes that still have some soil on, hurrah! They aren't slavish to the local theme though and also supply more exotic fruit and veg from further afield. They also supply chutneys, sweets, posh crisps, jams, pastas, rice, milk, cream, and the wonderful Cartmel sticky toffee pudding. There's a great selection of local Lancashire cheeses including Dewlay cheeses from just down the road and also good quality cheese from elsewhere in the world such as feta cheese and mozzarella. Along one wall there's a large selection of bird food and feeders which ties in with there being a small gardening section alongside the shop. All in all a great farm shop which offers fair value and a good variety of stock without erring too much towards garden centre style overpricing.

I didn't actually believe that anything substantial, let alone good, could take place in the small rose garden outside of the bar, The Arc, in Headingley. It just looked too small. But when I went last weekend it was like the space had magically morphed and increased in size! There were stalls selling organic vegetables, fruit, cheese, local wine, local meat, cakes, bread, Indian food, eggs, even a stall selling plants from a nursery in Pudsey. They had some pots of raspberry stems but I was on my bike so I couldn't get them home. Fortunately, I got their card and might pop along during the week to pick some up as they were a good price and I know they will work on the allotment as they have been grown in Leeds. Besides the market stalls there was a live band! This made it for me as usually at farmers markets you want to linger a bit but once you've made your purchases can't really find a reason to but the band was the perfect Saturday morning entertainment. There are always plenty of free samples to taste, and with each purchase helping to support local farmers and keep your food miles low, stuffing your face has never felt so good!

There is always an excellent mix of stall here selling produce such as sweets, plants, coffee, cheeses, specialist sausages, specialist meats, beers, smoothies, cakes, black & white pudding and much much more. Many of the stalls have free samples to try and the smell that emits from the market is delicious. The produce on sale is often more expensive than you would find in supermarkets but this is to be expected. The produce is of an excellent quality and you wont find many of the specialist items in supermarkets at all. This is a great addition to the Lark Lane community.

This market, held on the last Saturday of every month, is bigger than its counterpart in Woolton Village, although it does suffer slightly in comparison as half of it is on the edge of busy Aigburth road. A great plant stall selling lovely and unusual bushes at very decent prices greets those who enter the market from Lark Lane. The kind of stall Woolton is missing out on. There's myriad cake and bakery stalls selling pasties, pies, pastries and bread and the ever present Savin Hill Farm meat stall, which sells sausages presumably butchered in Heaven. Last time I went, today (28 August), there was a fantastic flower stall with some of the sunniest sunflower bouquets I've ever seen for a mere £3. A very good place to visit every now and again, but it rarely changes, which is a shame.

Bread, Meat, Fish, Mexican food. My favourite stall is Posh Pickles who do jams from fruit from this country, mango chutney and all sorts of pickles. This month I bought Lemon Grass and Ginger Jelly. their Caribbean Marmalade is to die for. The man with the Mexican food stall, does gorgeous Cornbread. He saves a loaf for me each month, because my friend is alergic to wheat. The latest improvement is cornbread with sultanas in it. The bread stall has types of bread which I had never heard of. my favourite is her Walnut loaf, 2nd her Date bread. The meat is sourced from north Cumbria. Occasionally one of the local breweries bring a range of their bottled beers. Even if you don't buy much the market is fun to visit. I'll update this if the stalls change.

The restaurant is known as The Pudding House, and it is an absolutely fabulous place for a meal. Why? For a start the philosophy underpinning the place is spot on -- they believe in locally-sourced food, traditionally prepared and at very reasonable prices. And, as you might expect, it's very tasty fare. Then there's the decor -- fresh, modern and very appealing. If that wasn't enough, the farm itself enjoys tranquil views over the local countryside; and if you like the food, there's plenty else to amuse and entertain you when you visit. The place is easily accessible off the B5272 and to be honest, I can't recommend it highly enough.

While most of us are trying to get a well earned lie in or nurse a hang over there are many out there setting up stalls to sell their wares and even more getting out there to sample the fresh produce of fruit, meat and cheese sellers and hand crafted materials and jewellery. When the weather is good or the 'farmers' know there will be more tourists out on the street there seems a better turn out and the market is the best way to sample some of the areas best local goods.

I'd call this a hidden Welsh gem. In the middle there is also a selection of chocolates to die for along with a mini bakery with freshly made Welsh cakes and bread. There's also a cafe, icecream parlour, wine shop and bee centre located right outside so everyone should be able to find something to suit their taste.

It's…read morethe sort of place you need to go out of your way to get to and in any case we'd heard mixed reviews of the place. However one quiet Saturday afternoon we needed something to pass an hour and with nowhere else to go we turned south down the Conwy Valley and headed for Furnace Farm. The centre essentially comprises three parts for visitors the Hay Loft Restaurant, The Furnace Tea-Room and the Furnace Farm Shop. There are however other parts of the business including a cookery school and a bee keeping centre. We didn't try either the restaurant or tea-rooms on our visit but instead headed for the shop. My first impression was that it was bigger than I'd expected, it's maybe the size of an average convenience store but for some reason I'd expected a tiny little room. There's everything you'd expect from a shop like this including meat, veg, dairy produce, preserves, cakes, beer and all manner of cooking ingredients. Surprisingly for a Welsh food centre some of the produce wasn't Welsh, I spotted produce from Shropshire, Gloucestershire and Yorkshire amongst others, but most of the stock is Welsh. There's some genuinely local produce too including beer from the Great Orme Brewery which misleadingly isn't located on the Great Orme but is in fact located about a mile to the north of Furnace Farm on the outskirts of Glan Conwy. They also stock preserves from Baravelli's of Conwy and cakes from Swigr a Sbeis and Ty Hwnt I'r Bont, both of which are located just down the valley in Llanrwst. They also stock locally reared meat and game, some of which is reared on the Bodnant Estate and rest elsewhere in the Conwy Valley. What isn't surprising is that the prices are often a bit hefty, this isn't somewhere many people will go to do the weekly shop. We bought a few items (mainly Great Orme beer!) but I think for most normal families this is somewhere to purchase couple of treats rather than do any substantial shopping. In many ways it's more of a tourist attraction than a shop for the locals and I'm sure they'll be looking to attract coach parties to boost their trade. Although we will no doubt return at some point in time it's not likely to be anytime soon. However I do hope the business succeeds. It does provide much needed employment in a rural area and also provides a place for local food produces to sell their wares so it's not all bad.

Stalls start at the bottom of the old yard and continue up with many being undrrcover. There are plenty of meat stall a few bakery type stalls along with fresh fish. Only 1 cheese stall. There are a few places to grab snacks although gluten free is extremely limited. The one place I expected to find gf was the Indian snacks but it appears they buy in so contain wheat!. Overall worth a visit and pleasant morning out if not raining. You also get to see the outside of the tower

The Northen Quarter market is on Stevenson Square and is quite small but all the stalls are selling good quality stuff and it's well worth a visit especially if you're a foodie or into vintage. There was an excellent handmade chocolate stall, a stall selling gourmet marshmallows, a place selling macaroons as well as cheese, vintage clothing, handmade jewellery and furniture stalls. The Soup Kitchen were also there with a Jamaican BBQ and there was a street food place selling wraps and sandwiches. A great way to spend a lazy Sunday.
