MY experience of it was simply as a biergarten, ordering beers from the beer stand. Elevated from the street, and surrounded on three sides by buildings (in various stages of renovation), it was a nice, congenial courtyard in which to have some beer, isolated mostly from the Schoenhauser Allee noise. It doesn't compete with Prater, but beats out whatever the biergarten at Kultur Brauerei, close by, is called.

The main concert space has a kind of dreamy hallucinatory glow, thanks to the central location of its hypnotic bar, lit from the inside and gently cycling through the colors of the rainbow. An added plus: Glashaus is part of the Arena complex (which incl. Badeschiff) and right next to the illustrious CdV and Freischwimmer.

Overall the crowd is not overly annoying either, and you can see a lot of the great Berlin faces and personalities there. Entry door is cool and relaxed. Lido is, without a doubt, one of my top favourite venues in all of Berlin. Everything - from its…read moresize, to its location, to the bands it books, to the overall light and sound - are wonderful. The layout is quite comfortable, with the standard bar in the back. Meanwhile, there is elevated seating on the side for those who want sit down but still take in the show. The entire room is incredibly spacious, even when the place is packed. The stage is also at a perfect level for taking photos, and the photography I do at this venue is always among my best, because the lighting is versatile and conducive to taking photos without flash. The back room, or smoking lounge, is a good place to take a break from all the people and the loud music, and the second bar there is advantageous. I guess my only complaint would be that it costs money to use the bathrooms... I understand and respect the idea of a bathroom attendant, but I can't think of any other venues who implement this. All in all, if you haven't been to Lido yet, check it out. I am almost certain you will find a musician playing or a themed-dance night that peaks your interest.

It was walking distance from plenty of other cool bars, too. Wish I could have seen the band again in this venue instead of the place I saw them in Munich!
