I found Coco Nail & Spa on Yelp while looking for a nail salon in between appointments in the middle of the week. What a fabulous experience, and a much-needed break from the traditional salon mills that I have visited in the past - and had become accustom to. Seeing that the salon is only about 3 months new to the area, it was a bit quiet (and mid-morning during the week) - which is how I kind of like it. Felt like a true salon experience. I went in for a pedicure, and the salon was extremely clean, the staff incredibly friendly, and there were plenty of nice touches. Katie did an excellent and detailed job with my toes. Our conversation centered around the opening of the salon, and how the owner owns two of these salons in CT - of which Katie had worked at one and followed the owner here to work in MA. Ten-minute leg massage followed by salt scrub and hot stone massage; very nice touch. And while my toes were being painted, she dipped my heels in parafin wax, to help with the dryness/cracking brought on by summer weather and flops. Two days later and my heels are still feeling fabulous! I also received a mini shoulder massage while my toes dried under the drier. Pedicure cost = $35; of which I thought was a complete value versus the other quick salons I've visited in Boston. I was so impressed that I went back today for a manicure - and the service was just as fantastic. While Katie was busy with another customer (and she did recognize me, and stopped by to see the status of my toes), I had the pleasure of being serviced by Tony. Another fabulous experience; chock full of great conversation. He is self-proclaimed to be "tedious," which is exactly what I wanted and needed - and he was (I opted for the shelac manicure, due to how I beat up my hands/nails). The nails look and feel fabulous. He told me to come back for a tune-up in case anything happened to any of my nails. He finished with a nice hand and arm massage, while I received a shoulder and back massage from another staff member (did not catch his name). Shelac Manicure = $35; again, great value. Tony also revealed that if needed/wanted, there is a private room towards the back that one can use for a manicure, in case one wanted privacy from other customers. No charge. Another nice touch. What a great gem run and serviced by some great folks. I will definitely be making this my salon of choice, and might even dabble in some other services. read more

I decided to stray from my usual nail salon after getting a coupon for 20% off and reading the good reviews on yelp. It wasn't that my pedicure didn't come out good - it did. I just couldn't enjoy the experience because the technician tried to talk to me almost the entire time - the subject matter was uncomfortable - I'll leave it at that! When I went to check out I was told they would not accept my coupon because it was only good monday-thursday. Granted it was Friday and it did say that on the coupon, I just didn't notice. I was surprised they didn't honor it for a new customer and considering I was only one of two customers there - the place was dead! Also, they charge either $36 or $37 for a pedicure - $10 more than most local salons. The only added service they provided was the hot stone. Typically I've had a great experience here until today. Woman doing my nails was having a hard time finding the gel color that I asked for. She came over with a bottle that had a different # on it then what the bottle said. I questioned her on it and she quickly told me it was the same. See the picture below to see I was lied to. I have no problem if you can't find it, I just don't understand being lied to. This was my second time coming to Coco. I called ahead for a 4:45pm appointment which they honored when I arrived. They recommend appointments because they seem to get really busy during afterwork hours. I had a mani and pedi which were completed in an hour, which I loved! Someone was working on filing and shaping my nails while my toes were being done. Everyone was very nice and helpful and the place seemed very clean. This place is horrible; I wish there were negative stars. The person in charge / owner is RUDE! They assigned to me a woman who doesn't know what she was doing. She butchered my nails ending up and zig-zags and sharp corners and too short. Instead of cutting the cuticles in continuous manner she chopped, chopd, chopped them does caused potential injuries, I then spent a lot of time attempting to salvage what I could of my nails and cuticles, It required cutting and filing the nails shorter. It was very difficult to salvage the cuticles "pieces". I was a Guinea-pig! By common sense any other place have one dry their nail polish with warm air; they use cold air. This was in the winter and I was freezing. I went for the first time in a few years out of convenience and my experience was not the best. I am very disappointed in the fact that I spent over $100 on a manicure that left some of cuticles bleeding and the rest in pain. I will not be going back in the future. I went this morning and my dip nail polish is already chipping which does not make any sense. If I felt as though I wouldn't ruin my cuticle beds any further, I would have made a new appointment elsewhere to fix their mistakes. read more

There is a reason why this place has an average of only 3 stars on Yelp. If I could I would give it a big fat zero! I had the worst mani and pedi ever. The water for my pedi was so hot it almost burned my feet. The girl was very inattentive and acted like I was doing her a favour just being there. When I had my manicure she cut my cuticles until they bled! AND to top that off....there were bumps in the polish and being a gel...will be there for a good few weeks. When I spoke to the owner, she was such a bitch, and said there was nothing she could do about it or I would have to pay again for them to re-do the polish...even though it was only on a few nail. I have never experienced anything like this lack of service in any other salon in the area. I've got to say the place is a dump for the prices they charge. I love coco nails! My sister and I come every couple weeks to get our nails done, and we always have a pleasant experience. The ladies are so nice and always are sure to greet us by name. We usually go to Meghan and Vy for dip nails and they are fantastic--my nails usually last 4 weeks! I used to get gel here, which I loved, but started getting dip over the summer to stop me from biting my nails, and I can't explain how much I love them! My nails have completely grown out and I can't believe how long they are! They charge $10 extra to take off the dip before putting on new ones, but it is absolutely worth it to prevent damaging your nails at home. I only wish they could come with me when I go back to school in the fall! read more

I usually love going to Coco's, so it pains me to have to write this. Today I went for a pedicure. I did not have an appointment, but I have always had great success with walking in. I guess my luck just ran out. I was one of two people in the pedicure chairs, but the nail tech I had was very distracted (I am not sure why, because they were not overly busy). Mina did a decent job of trimming all of my toe nails, with the exception of one. It was my second toe and she just skipped over it. Finally, when I realized that she wasn't going to cut it, I asked if she could make it shorter. Next, while she was cleaning under my toe nails, she was not paying attention, and she jabbed me two times. It was hard enough and painful enough that I actually gasped and said ouch! When she finished the pedicure, she took me over to the table to dry my feet and she never came back to have me pay my bill or give me a neck massage. One of the reasons I come to Coco's is for the neck massage! After a very long week of work, I was really looking forward to this. After 20 minutes, I finally got up to pay my bill. I realized that nobody was coming back. Mina's coworker then had to point out that I was at the counter. She came over to the counter (and did not apologize). I asked her if they still did neck massages. Her response was that they did, but she forgot about me (still no apology). She half-heartedly offered to do it then, but by that time, I was upset and disappointed and I needed to leave. When I got to the car, I looked at my feet and noticed that there is still polish on my big toes that did not get cleaned up. I am not happy with this pedicure. If I do go back, I will not see Mina. I have had a lot of great people at Coco's and I realize that people have days where they are a little "off" in their routine or work, but this was unacceptable. read more

I recently went back to Coco and see they have new owners. Absolutely terrible service. I rarely give bad reviews. Not only was I rushed, the manager came to stand over me while I was picking a gel color to sarcastically ask when I was going to have a decision . The nail technician was rude and the staff made me feel so uncomfortable that I left halfway through the service. The manager tried to apologize on the way out but they still insisted I pay $15 for a rushed, botched polish removal where cuticles were not even properly done and my old polish had been smeared onto my fingers! In recent days I would have given this place 3 stars but having just come from there I felt this review was needed. They tried to charge me extra for things I didn't get. And it wasn't even the person who was doing my nails! One woman told my manicurist to charge me for a french manicure and while I said I wasn't having a french manicure she kept demanding my manicurist charge me extra. Then from across the room the owner said I should be charge extra for a different polish (one that lasts longer) that was on my toes. Again, I said I didn't get that, my manicurist also said I didn't get it and she still kept demanding I get charged. My manicurist finally straightened up the confusion. But instead of any sort of apology to me both turned away in a huff. Beyond. Rude. There are too many nail salons in this area to be treated this way. read more

I went in excited to get my nails done for the first time in a very long time. I was greeted nicely and checked in. My friend and I were seated and I told my nail technician that I wanted a full set dip with extensions. She brought me the colors to choose from and gave me approximately 30 seconds to look for a color. It doesn't take me long to make decisions but I felt like I was being rushed and pressured to pick. I was deciding between two when the colors were grabbed out of my hand before I could really settle on a color. I went over to my nail tech who was looking for the color I had "chosen" and told her I had changed my mind and decided to go with a white. Rushing me to sit back down, she grabbed a white and started my nails. I asked for coffin shape and I got crooked filing and more of an almond shape. My nails were crooked. Rude comments were made to me about how I should pay extra for an eyebrow appointment when I didn't need to get my eyebrows done. A bit of a punch at my confidence. I felt a bit like I wasn't wanted there even though I had made the appointment and walked in excited for my appointment. Overall I am a bit disappointed and wished the technicians there would treat each client professionally. read more

I have been here twice for a dip with nail extension. The first time they were ok, but by the end of the day the top coat was peeling off. Came back today and the experience was meh. I had asked for round but the woman gave me the most awkward square shape that literally flares out. My nails are insanely thick from a million layers of dip and some are pretty bumpy it looks pretty bad. I didnt want to speak up because while getting my nails done the customer next to me was throwing a fit for a solid 45 minutes, i felt really bad for the nail techs! Each tech had a turn trying to fix her nails so i ended up having three different techs work on my nails as a result. They didn't deserve be to treated that way, but as a result they put little to no effort into my nails and flat out didn't listen to what i had asked for, which were just plain solid color round nails. Tbh they are oddly Painful on my fingers. I'll most likely give them another try solely because they always have openings and the techs are nice! read more

I WOULDNT SEND MY CAT HERE. Took my elderly mother here for an appointment, the "owner" Vy was extremely rude to everybody in her establishment. She was giving attitude to a customer in there after they destroyed her nails because of a pretty sad miscommunication, & the "owner" Vy wasn't sensitive toward it in the slightest & essentially diminished the customer in front of me & other customers. She was extremely rude to me & my mother the entire time & we left extremely unsatisfied. I would get my nails done at Petco before I would at Coco. I used to love this place and it was the best nail salon that I have ever been to. I took my mom and my friends. Everyone raved about it after. It was recently sold and has completely changed staff. The prices are still the same, but the quality has gone downhill. I don't mean the quality in the finished product, but it used to feel like you were going to a spa. Everything is now rushed. It is just your typical nail salon with a pretty paint job. You don't feel special when you go in. The new owner has no customer service skills and is rude when you talk to her. Absolutely horrible! They don't even deserve the one star. Went in to get a pedicure and manicure. Manicure was rushed. My nails ended up different lengths and the cuticles were left uncut. Nail technician was in such a rush to help another client that I got pushed out to wait in a pedicure chair for another tech to do the pedicure and paint my nails. Pedicure tech had to redo manicure and fix what first tech was too 'busy' to do. An absolute horrible experience. Lost my regular business. Owner is downright rude. They are not as clean as they appear to be. They always have new, unskilled people that they allow to do your nails . I used to love this place. Has gone way downhill in the last six months or so. Most of the women that work there are very very nice- besides the owner. I'm writing a follow up review, specifically about my experience on 8/25/15 with a particular technician. Let me just start saying that I live right down the block from Coco and although it's a little bit more pricey than other nail salons, I continue to come back because: 1) it is very clean 2) I love the little extras they include that other salons don't such as the parraffin wax with the pedicure and the hot lotion with the standard manicure 3) the excellent neck massages. I come in on average every three weeks. On 8/25/15, I came in for a regular pedicure. I did not request any one in particular and happened to be paired with a technician that I believe is new; I have never seen her before and by her behavior she seemed to not have any confidence and was very disorganized. First, the water was extremely hot. I told her this once and I thought she adjusted it, but it was still so hot that I could definitely see the hot air rising. Second, I asked for her to file my toe nails round; she was so passive that when I did a check, my toe nails were still sharp and ridged. I also noticed that she barely even cut my cuticles. I noticed that some of the technicians seemed to be glancing at her, which I assumed meant that they were keeping an eye on her. Finally Stephanie came over to check in and I asked her to make sure that my technician filed the nails more and cut the cuticles more. The tech then said that she would have to wait a while to file the nails down more because my feet had been soaking in the water for too long. Then came the part for the hot stones... First, she forgot the parraffin wax. And then as she was rubbing my feet/calves with the hot stones, Stephanie came over to re-file my nails. Then she started painting them and after two toes, removed the polish and walked away. I asked Stephanie what she was doing and said that the tech had to get a new bottle because it was thick. At this point, Kim came over and finished polishing my nails and then gave me an amazing neck massage while my toe nails dried. I appreciate that Stephanie and Kim acknowledged that I was having a very bad experience and did their best to correct my tech's wrongs. However, I don't think that I should have been charged the full price since my tech neglected to give me the parraffin wax. I go to this salon purposely and know that I'm going to pay a few extra dollars but I expect the best. read more

This place is nice but I wouldn't go here every time for a mani/pedi...it's not super expensive but they do all the fancy stuff and if you get your nails done as often as I do, you don't need all those "extras" all the time. They are very friendly and I love how they used veggie based/natural products, hot rocks and massage you for 5x as long as most places. Coco Nail Salon was recommended to me by my waxer- Candyce at Salon Capri (whom I adore and will travel two hours round trip to see) and it has since become my absolute favorite nail salon, period- far exceeding mani/pedi's I have paid exorbitant amounts of money for at tony day spas. I am just returning from a nearly 2.5 hour paraffin manicure and peppermint pedicure that was simply extraordinary- it was unbelievably relaxing and my nails and skin have never looked this perfect. I love this place. I can always count on them being available for a mani or a mani-pedi even if I just walk in. They give awesome massages with every service and the ladies are so nice! Went to Coco Nails today for a pedicure( just got home), the worst Ive had in a long time! From the time i wanted in the door to the time i was finished and brought to the drying area was 17 minutes, the massage chair had not even gone though a single session before it was over. While the technician did all the usual steps everything was rushed and with little effort. There was no wait and extra staff were around so its not like they were trying to be efficient. I look longer than I am and I suspect that they thought they could get way with doing a poor job. I will not be back here again, which is sad because i used to come here often. read more

I took a mental hygiene day from work and did mostly nothing (which really was something)...on a whim, decided to try CoCo and found the place very peaceful and quiet on a weekday afternoon.
