I used to love this place so much. I love their noodles and rice and how not greasy they are so much better than other places. However, I've read too many studies lately about how putting hot food in plastic containers releases, toxic chemicals into the food I really wish this place had cardboard containers for their food instead, so that toxic chemicals wouldn't leech into the food. I came in here during a week day for lunch hoping to sit down and have a bowl of pho and have a Banh Mi and Viet coffee for take-out afterwards, but I quickly realized after I walked over here from my place that they are only doing take out and delivery orders. I assume that this all started post-COVID but I was disappointed. Onto the experience and food. The older man taking my order behind the counter was really nice. He did make a mistake however because I wanted a bowl of pho and a banh mi but when he rung me up, I paid, and then he was like "wait, you wanted two bowls of pho?". I told him that I wanted just one and a Banh Mi with coffee. He realized he made a mistake and he looked a little flustered since I had just paid. Anyways, I told him it wasn't a big deal. I waited less than 6-7 minutes and my stuff was packaged and ready to go. He also throw in an Thai Iced Tea for the mistake. I brought it home and everything was packaged nicely. I saved the other pho for the next day. My pho was pretty good. I don't normally like taking pho to-go as it is never the same, but I'd rate it an 8/10. Really wish I could have dined in. My Viet coffee and thai iced tea were good, however I wish the Viet coffee was just black with no sugar. My friends and I picked up food from this place about a month ago, and it was SO good! None of us ever ordered food before this experience, but I would definitely order from here again. We didn't eat in here, and my friend was the one who picked up our mobile online order, so my review is strictly about the food. Before I tried the food, I had gotten a Vietnamese iced coffee and it was so creamy and so amazing. I never had Vietnamese coffee before but WOW. I'd come back just for this! For my food, I ordered the beef noodles, and they were full of flavor as well. They were a great texture and they weren't so greasy or wet like some places sometimes are. The beef was perfectly cooked and not tough. Two of my friends ordered the Pho with raw meat, and my one friend was so freaked out because she didn't realize it was literally raw until she put it in the broth. However, both of my friends who ended up ordering Pho ended up enjoying it. I also ordered egg rolls and they were a bit on the drier side, but still full of flavor. TL:DR - A solid banh mi spot. Small interior. No seating inside during covid. Welcoming and nice staff. Came in on a Friday afternoon, was the only person in the spot. Got a grilled pork banh mi lunch combo to go. The lunch combo comes with two small egg rolls and a can of soda or water. The banh mi itself was definitely good, but I've def had better elsewhere that had more savory pork, more pork, and better pickled veggies. If I was in the area and craved banh mi, I wouldn't hesitate to stop by, but if I wasn't in the area I wouldn't make a trip specifically here to get it. The egg rolls are pretty standard, but the lunch combo price of $2 for a can of soda and two egg rolls is more than fair and something I'd probably get each time. The store itself is really small. Seems to be just enough space for about 4 people to stand inside an appropriate pandemic distance. There is no seating inside. Prices are relatively fair and a tad lower than other nearby establishments by a $1 or so. Apart from all of these, while I was waiting, I had a fun conversation with the lady working the register (owner?). She was very engaging and friendly. Absolutely delicious! An extremely satisfying bowl of pho with brisket, mb, and rare beef. The broth was very flavorful and full of spicy beef flavor. I loved it. The restaurant is no frills. One table and room to order or pick up takeout. The sprouts, basil, peppers, etc were in a pre-done bag that also included pouches of sriracha. Don't let these things worry you. The pho and banh mi here are as good as any you'll find in Argyle (or Chicago)! I've come here numerous times and the food is consistently delicious while the staff is consistently super friendly. It's a very casual spot on the outskirts of Argyle but that makes it easy to find parking right in front of the restaurant. My go-tos here: - Coco Special Banh Mi (ham, pate, and pork roll) - fresh bread, yummy meats, what more can you ask for out of a banh mi? - Vietnamese Traditional Pho (with well-done brisket) - flavorful broth that's not too heavy plus a generous portion size with plenty of meat and noodles! The seasoned tofu, egg and veggie fried rice is solid as well. I don't know what's wrong with me. This place is literally a block from where I have live (I was here before it opened); it's pretty cheap, and it's quite good. I'm not sure I had ever had a bahn-mi before having on there... and honestly, may not have had one since. That's something I need to change. I had the shredded chicken sandwich. It was really good, and I was worried I wasn't going to like it at all. I love that the jalapeños add some spice to it. The veggies were fresh and crisp and it didn't leave me with that feeling of eating too much or eating something too heavy as many places do. The fried rice is good too, though I didn't like it as much as at other places. Pho isn't my bag, but next time I may have to get some pork noodles and a couple sandwiches to split, so we can trie one of each. 3.5 stars. I order from here on Uber Eats whenever I'm craving a banh mi since my go to spot isn't on there. I usually get the Saigon classic (Pork belly and pork roll, mayo, pate, jalapeño peppers, cucumber, cilantro, pickled carrot & radish). The pork belly is soo yummy! The meat, however is a bit on the thinner side and there is a lot more bread compared to meat. There is also not much pate, which is one of the best parts in my opinion. If they could just add more pate and take out a little more bread and add thicker meat this sandwich would be a dream. I really like the shrimp spring rolls here. The peanut sauce is delicious and perfectly balanced! The shrimp is pretty thin though. Flavor wise, I love everything about these, so refreshing! Their viet iced coffee is good too. If you've never tried Vietnamese iced coffee, you must! It's stronger, richer and has an intense flavor but it's creamy and slightly sweet from the condensed milk. I'll have to try their pho sometime, I usually never order pho takeout unless I'm sick because I am a sole believer that pho needs to be enjoyed in the restaurant, unless it's homemade of course. read more

Fairly close to Argyle where I typically shop for my favorite banh-mi sandwich. I took a try and ordered a selection. I would rate these sandwiches to Bale and close if they added a bit more Pate. I had a favorite go-to Banh Mi place but that place unfortunately closed down years ago. Since then, CôCô has taken care of my banh mi cravings and every visit is pleasant so far! Post-pandemic (arguably) it seems to be only take-out & delivery. No issues for me because I tend to take my banh mi to-go either way. Each visit seems to be the same lady who takes my order. She is friendly and all so I have no complaints there. As far as the menu goes, everything is listed clearly with pricing. With rising food costs, banh mi has gone up but pricing is still very reasonable and budget friendly for the most part. What you get is a big filling sandwich so IMO I believe it's a good price. I usually rotate banh mi flavors but I always rotate between the Saigon classic, Coco special or the grilled pork. The sandwich always hits the spot. Fresh veggies with a nice crunch from the bread together with the meats yum! Sometimes I'll throw in an order of spring rolls, egg rolls or fried shrimp and for the most part they're good too! Pretty tasty banh mi - the pâté in particular really makes it! This place is a great place to grab a quit and affordable bite. The baguette has a great chew and crispiness to it. The veggies are tasty but a bit understated (not super pickled?), and the pâté is sweet and creamy. The main meat didn't stand out so much to me (I got grilled pork) - it was good enough but not a ton of flavor. I was hoping for something a little saucier or smokier. We had quite a bit of communication issues so it's possible I got something else. As a part of the communication issues, we also ended up with an egg banh mi. The egg was cooked so deliciously! Perfectly scrambled and slightly sweet. Not sure there was pâté on this one, though, so it felt a little dry. Overall if you're craving banh mi, it's a good enough place to go. I ordered through GrubHub recently-I ordered Cha Gio or Vietnamese Egg Rolls... which I love-however; I was highly disappointed....while they added lettuce for wrapping... THEY DID NOT INCLUDE the Nuoc Cham-Dipping Sauce OR the Pickled Vegetables and Herbs like Cilantro and Pepper to include in the wrapping. I was really surprised that an supposedly "authentic" Vietnamese Restaurant would not include this in the order. It is located a little further away from the Argyle area so if you do not want to wait at Tank or have trouble finding parking then this is a great option. One of their most delicious in my opinion would be their Shrimp Bahn Mi. I don't know what they do to their shrimp or how they make their sauce, but it is absolutely delicious. My partner and I usually end up getting our own to pair with our Pho Noodles instead of sharing because it it so good. The flavors are fresh and so are the veggies that come with the sandwich. The Pho is also super delicious. The broth is flavorful and not too sweet and you always receive a generous amount of meat and noodles. There is nothing like a hot bowl of delicious soup on a summers day or winters day. That's right, every day is a great day for Pho broth from Co Co. The restaurant is clean and basic, but you can tell that the focus is on the food. The staff are very attentive and make you fee like family. The best part about this place is that they have a DAILY lunch special add on which is only $2 and you also receive two egg rolls and a choice of beverage (specified) to accompany your sandwich, noodle, fried rice, our soup order. I got some food with Uber eats and I'm so glad I did!!! The Chicken Curry was so tender and juicy! Delicious. And I can't get over how long the spring rolls were! You get "two" rolls but their basically four. Beautifully wrapped with just the right amount of shrimp in each bite. The lettuce was fresh and crispy. And the peanut sauce was made perfectly! My boyfriend got the beef banh mi... Nomz! The only recommendation I have is toasting the French bread for the curry a little longer... but honestly though, wasn't a big deal, I just like my bread toastier than others. I am one of many CTA #81(Lawrence) frequent passengers. When I noticed this new Vietnamese joint that's actually closer to my apartment, I wanted to give it a try. You have an option to ride the Lawrence bus all the way to Broadway and dine somewhere in the Little Vietnam Uptown, or you can step out the bus early at the southwest corner of Lawrence and Ashland. Coco Vietnamese Sandwiches & Pho is a great discovery, especially when you need to accommodate someone in your party who is a vegetarian and can't eat anything at that neighboring By*on's Hot Dog. Most people would think this place caters more take-out businesses because hardly does anyone choose dine in. Indeed a place like CoCo is carryout friendly, yet we thought the dining room was tranquil and comfortable. While we were waiting for the food, the lady owner adjusted the AC and turned on the lights for us! She didn't have to do that because hubby and I were low-maintenance individuals. The rare brisket pho was great. I'm totally not a pho connoisseur, but I felt my stamina was regained upon finishing my big bowl of pho. The broth was flavorful and mildly spicy. Hubby adhered his vegetarian diet with his tofu Banh mi. Oh by the way, don't forget the Vietnamese Iced coffee! Be thankful that it's the end of September here in Chicago and the temperature is still in the 70s. Thus, you need this to keep yourself hydrated.
