Classic w/ Pork Belly Banh Mi
    Jose C.

I called in an order for pickup. The lady at the counter was very sweet. She was very welcoming and had my order ready to go for me. She had the most charming smile and thanked me for coming in. I ordered three Banh mi sandwiches and they were all good. My favorite was the Pork Belly Banh Mi that I ordered, but the lemongrass pork and shredded chicken were just as good. The prices were fair and everything tasted fresh. Would definitely be coming back.

My friends and I picked up food from this place about a month ago, and it was SO good! None of us ever ordered food before this experience, but I would definitely order from here again. We didn't eat in here, and my friend was the one who picked up our mobile online order, so my review is strictly about the food. Before I tried the food, I had gotten a Vietnamese iced coffee and it was so creamy and so amazing. I never had Vietnamese coffee before but WOW. I'd come back just for this! For my food, I ordered the beef noodles, and they were full of flavor as well. They were a great texture and they weren't so greasy or wet like some places sometimes are. The beef was perfectly cooked and not tough. Two of my friends ordered the Pho with raw meat, and my one friend was so freaked out because she didn't realize it was literally raw until she put it in the broth. However, both of my friends who ended up ordering Pho ended up enjoying it. I also ordered egg rolls and they were a bit on the drier side, but still full of flavor. It may have also been because they were a little cold by the time I ate them. Overall, I'd gladly order food here again if I'm around the area!

A go- to-place for Banh Mi (Vietnamese sandwiches)! ***Serves pho and other Vietnamese dishes but at the time of writing this review, I decided not to try such items since they are less desirable as take out. Food: Banh mi dac biet (combination special) - 4.5/5 - very good version on the classic Vietnamese banh mi Banh mi Saigon - 5/5 - best of the Banh mi here; what makes this stand out is the pork belly Banh mi thit heo nuong (grilled pork) - 5/5 - sweet marinaded grilled pork Banh mi thit bo nuong (grilled beef) - 5/5 - sweet marinaded grilled beef Banh mi thit ga (shredded chicken) - 3.75/5 - curry-flavored shredded bits of chicken Vietnamese iced coffee and Thai iced tea were OK - not outstanding to note. Ambience: Still doing only take out as of 10/2021 Service: Fast and friendly

TL:DR - A solid banh mi spot. Small interior. No seating inside during covid. Welcoming and nice staff. Came in on a Friday afternoon, was the only person in the spot. Got a grilled pork banh mi lunch combo to go. The lunch combo comes with two small egg rolls and a can of soda or water. The banh mi itself was definitely good, but I've def had better elsewhere that had more savory pork, more pork, and better pickled veggies. If I was in the area and craved banh mi, I wouldn't hesitate to stop by, but if I wasn't in the area I wouldn't make a trip specifically here to get it. The egg rolls are pretty standard, but the lunch combo price of $2 for a can of soda and two egg rolls is more than fair and something I'd probably get each time. The store itself is really small. Seems to be just enough space for about 4 people to stand inside an appropriate pandemic distance. There is no seating inside. Prices are relatively fair and a tad lower than other nearby establishments by a $1 or so. Apart from all of these, while I was waiting, I had a fun conversation with the lady working the register (owner?). She was very engaging and friendly. Made me feel welcomed and she herself made the experience a fun one. All in all, a super solid banh mi spot. Will be back.

The pho and banh mi here are as good as any you'll find in Argyle (or Chicago)! I've come here numerous times and the food is consistently delicious while the staff is consistently super friendly. It's a very casual spot on the outskirts of Argyle but that makes it easy to find parking right in front of the restaurant. My go-tos here: - Coco Special Banh Mi (ham, pate, and pork roll) - fresh bread, yummy meats, what more can you ask for out of a banh mi? - Vietnamese Traditional Pho (with well-done brisket) - flavorful broth that's not too heavy plus a generous portion size with plenty of meat and noodles! The seasoned tofu, egg and veggie fried rice is solid as well. The menu isn't massive but there's still a good amount of variety to choose from so you shouldn't have any trouble finding something you'll like. :)

3.5 stars. I order from here on Uber Eats whenever I'm craving a banh mi since my go to spot isn't on there. I usually get the Saigon classic (Pork belly and pork roll, mayo, pate, jalapeño peppers, cucumber, cilantro, pickled carrot & radish). The pork belly is soo yummy! The meat, however is a bit on the thinner side and there is a lot more bread compared to meat. There is also not much pate, which is one of the best parts in my opinion. If they could just add more pate and take out a little more bread and add thicker meat this sandwich would be a dream. I really like the shrimp spring rolls here. The peanut sauce is delicious and perfectly balanced! The shrimp is pretty thin though. Flavor wise, I love everything about these, so refreshing! Their viet iced coffee is good too. If you've never tried Vietnamese iced coffee, you must! It's stronger, richer and has an intense flavor but it's creamy and slightly sweet from the condensed milk. I'll have to try their pho sometime, I usually never order pho takeout unless I'm sick because I am a sole believer that pho needs to be enjoyed in the restaurant, unless it's homemade of course.

Banh mi with grilled pork (you can see the pork is pretty understated)

Freshest bread in town. Everything I've tried, namely the tofu banh mi, have been amazing. Always great service and very reasonably priced.

While visiting Chicago with a buddy, Manny's Cafeteria and Delicatessen was one of those places we…read moreknew we had to try. After hearing so much about it over the years, I'm happy to say it mostly lived up to the hype. The first thing that stood out was the atmosphere. Manny's has that classic old school cafeteria feel that makes it seem like it's been serving the community for generations. There's a certain charm to it that you just can't recreate, and it made the entire experience feel authentically Chicago. I ordered the famous pastrami sandwich, and the meat absolutely lived up to its reputation. It was tender, flavorful, generously portioned, and piled high enough that every bite was packed with pastrami. It's easy to see why so many people recommend it. The staff also deserve a shoutout. Even though it was my first visit, everyone was welcoming, friendly, and happy to answer questions, making it easy to feel right at home. The only thing keeping this from being a five star experience was the bread. The rye itself was pretty average, and it wasn't toasted or prepared in any special way. With such incredible corned beef, I couldn't help but wish the bread had received the same level of attention because it would have taken the sandwich to another level. Even with that minor critique, Manny's is absolutely worth visiting if you're in Chicago. It's one of those classic spots that has earned its reputation, and I'd gladly stop in again the next time I'm in town.

5 stars based on Bahn mi, cha gio and iced coffee I ordered today…read more I must have been part of an early crowd. When I arrived, there was only one other table dining, which made it GREAT for me. It's a decent size hall with 10+ table arrangements, making it pretty great for a group to enjoy their lunch. It also featured a couple of kiosks for ordering, which I thought was a bit easy to miss, since it was tucked away in the left corner when you walked in. It looked like there was also a cashier available to take orders, if you miss the kiosks. I've seen places where they simply do not have anyone at the register to take orders, but that wasn't the case for Lotus. Before deciding to visit them today, I had an impression that their menu choices were very limited compared to other Vietnamese restaurants I was used to. I'm certainly not complaining, since I'm usually a huge fan of select "specialty" approach in restaurants. That's why I decided to order one of their Bahn mi, where I normally would have chosen pho for my first visit. And it didn't disappoint. First off, the size of the sandwich was good. I've had it where they charged a buck or two less, but they weren't big enough to be a full "lunch" portion. Lotus' size, I thought was decent. I had ordered one of their cha gios just in case the sandwich failed to fill me, but I think I would have been okay without it. Cha gio was super good tho! Oh, and the iced V-coffee was good, too. Typically, they'll bring out the coffee before your meal is ready, probably because they're ready-made in the morning and all you'd need to do is pour them over ice. I of course, have known legitimate mom n' pop places, where they'll actually bring out coffee as it's brewing in Phin (stainless steel coffee filter) and a glass of ice with condensed milk, so you can wait for the coffee to finish brewing and pour yourself one, which is what I *always* prefer. Not here, but no big deal. You can usually tell how good the food is going to be by trying their iced coffee. Even though V-coffee isn't known for using "incredible" beans, the balance of the strength of coffee and condensed milk *does* make a big difference in your experience. I felt this place had it correct! I'll definitely come back myself and even bring coworkers or my family to have their Bahn mi again. What I'm not sure about is whether I want to try their pho or bun. First, they don't offer too many variations, so I'm stuck choosing from just a few. (For example, I usually go for "brisket-only" or a combo of brisket and rare steak, but they didn't seem to have those options. Granted, it's possible they'll make it happen if I asked) Secondly, I think they're a couple bucks more expensive than what I would like to pay for a bowl of pho. We'll see.

Then wiped his fingers on a dirty rag and proceeded to finish making the bowls. A short time later, we were served that same bowl of ramen. Watching an employee use their bare hands and mouth on food that was then served to a customer was extremely concerning and completely unacceptable from a food safety and hygiene standpoint. It ruined the experience and made us lose confidence in the restaurant's food handling practices. I hope management takes this seriously, retrains their staff on proper food safety procedures, and ensures this doesn't happen to anyone else.
