This is a small tanning studio located inside the International Village mall, across the Caveman Cafe. This location is spotless, I see the front girl always cleaning, and have everything prepared for her customers. She walked us through everything we needed for our service and left us alone and only came in the room when she needed to. Great service. I will come back again in the future. read more

Very sanitized and clean environment. Pleasant and pretty staff. Exceptional customer service... I purchased a 30 day unlimited package. One week in I got quarantined because someone close to me tested positive for Covid. I emailed Cocoa and told them I would be unable to visit for 2 weeks and they responded almost instantly saying it's no problem and they added 2 weeks to the package. Very impressed. read more

Great service. People are very friendly and they offer all kinds of deals so that is great. The tanning beds however, are horrible. Very old, and they don't tan like they are supposed to. Multiple times I was burned on the front side of my body but nothing had happend to the back. So when I mentioned this, they told me I could try a lighter tanning bed. I did this too, and then I didn't have a tan at all. I go to tanning places all over the world for 7 years now, so I know this is crazy and has to do with the kind of beds. You can also tell by looking at the tanningbeds that they are very old. I will not return. read more

Went for the first time after seeing their special on social media advertised. (It worked!) Im the worst with names, but I believe it was Tommy who helped me. He was so friendly. Explained everything to me. I had tanned before, but every place is different. His customer service was exceptional and on top of that no pressure. I probably wouldn't have written a review, but good service needs praise. The place itself was clean and fun. I'm a sucker for a little ambience and the colour changing beds were such a neat touch. I'll certainly return and I'm sure have a package soon. I know tannings not the best, but it really helps get through the gloomy winter days! read more

I have been visiting Cocoa since they first opened. At the time, I was a tanning noob. As in, never tanned at a salon ever. When I first saw the place, it was small, clean and very modern. The beds looked extremely high tech and the place was dim but not dingy. The rooms are very private but not crampy. They will even supply you adaptorsAll of this made me decide to try tanning for the first time. The staff was very helpful in explaining how things worked, how each bed differed and explained the pricing packages to me and helped me decide on a package that was right for me. They have oodles of lotions and potions (including a UV teeth whitener!) that you can buy. If you're not sure (like I was) they also have sample sizes at a very good price. I bought a small tube of tanning lotion to try and it turns out the small tube goes a long ways. They will even hold on to your lotions and goggles so you can drop-in on a dime without going "oh I've gotten my goggles. I can't go." Within the room itself, there is a mirror, stool and a small coat hanger so you don't need to leave your stuff on the floor. The mirror helps if you want to apply any lotions. The studio allows you plenty of time to get ready before getting into the beds as the beds are activated by the user. I'm not a huge tanning enthuist (except through natural beach time) so I've only been visiting the studio sporatically. However, I'm glad to say that they have maintained the space really well through all this time. My only complaint is that because each room only has one bed and they only have 1 of each type of bed, when it's in use, it's in use. You can't go as a couple. That being said, if you've never tried tanning or looking for a small place where there isn't a huge crowd all the time (it only has 4 beds), I highly recommend this place. read more

I have gone here for a spray tan before with amazing results, unfortunately they have changed their formula (which they didn't inform me of) and now the results are sub par. I am a natural redhead so I opted for a level 2 because this is what I have received the best results from in the past... and you can't even tell I look the exact same. Disappointing to spend 50 dollars to look the exact same. I called to let them know I was disappointed with the results, they informed me of the product change and said I should try a level 3 next time... I honestly thought the machine might have been out of product, but she reassured me that is was not. Guess I will be a pasty for Coachella rather then sun kissed. So sad read more

I've been coming to Cocoa Tanning since I moved into Gastown a couple of years ago. The staff have always been exceptionally friendly and the prices are fair for what you get. I purchased a contract package that allowed the use of all beds for a flat rate, which you can freeze when needed. I took advantage of this during the fall/winter season and it was an awesome perk for someone who doesn't necessarily want to rock a tan all year round. One thing I particularly appreciate is that the staff are not pushy when it comes to purchasing tanning lotion, which can be quite expensive. They educate you on different products without putting pressure to purchase. There is also free chocolates at the front desk! And the studio itself is generally clean and well organized. Great studio and fantastic customer service! Would recommend to anyone living in the area! read more

Small place, so be ready to wait if somebody is using the bed you want. Now the receptionist is helpfull, knowlegeable and friendly. The place is SUPER clean and spacious. Only downside the price.......not cheap for a bikini look !!!! Oh le soleil tu me manques !! read more

Let me just start by saying out of all the Tanning Studios I've been to in Vancouver, I've never had as good as an overall experience than I have at Cocoa Tanning Studios. I've been going here for years now and the staff are not only SUPER pleasant and friendly, but offer many educational tips and suggestions. The studio at Gastown offers Infrared Sauna Sessions (WITH A TV! with relaxing music on YouTube, Netflix, or Cable TV), and Teeth Whitening take home products. Did I mention how CLEAN the studios are? Especially since COVID, it's nice to feel that I am being well taken care of and the studios are all spotless and sanitary! FREE PARKING TOO! I always get great service at Cocoa and the studio is super clean and organized- a must during this of Covid. During the summer months it is not too busy and I have never had to wait for the bed/stand up that I was planning on using. The worst customer experience ever. I will tell you why this is not the best tanning boutique in Vancouver. I went there because it seemed an elegant and fine place. I expected an excelent and educated customer service. What i found is that the people in charge of this place disrespect and treat people like trash in a rude and agressive manner. The receptionist treated me agressively and the manager did not do anything about it. I was in Vancouver on vacations, and this was the only bad experience in the 4 weeks I spend there with my friends.. Thanks for the farewell Cocoa Tanning Studio I will never go to that place again. Such a nice place to go tanning. Beautiful sleek new beds, no burnt out bulbs, clean clean clean and absolutely wonderful friendly staff. I only come here for the infrared sauna. I like the location, and the price is reasonable and comparable to other competitors. The sauna is in a private room where you can lock the door, and they set the sauna to work for at least 5 minutes more than the time you pay for, so you can have time to get ready first, which is good. The sauna itself is a comfortable setting yet effective and they provide you with a cable to plug into your iphone so you can listen in the sauna thru its speakers, and your iphone won't overheat or malfuntion in there. plenty of towels provided in the room too. Only complaint is that there is not washroom in studio, so you have to go across the building to use one first, and the sauna is almost always booked up so you have to reserve ahead. Overall, satisfied with everything, and I'll keep coming back here for the sauna. read more
