It's quite small though and always popular so I'd recommend booking at least a week in advance if you want to eat on a Friday or Saturday night.

The only slightly negative point that was made, was that you didn't feel like you wanted to have a nightcap- as although the staff were fantastic, they cleaned down early and "seemed like they wanted to get home" which is certainly fair enough- so if you like a last orders whisky, it may be best for you to pack a bottle and use a glass in the room!

We started with very fresh bread and a nice artisan pate with toast. We then followed it with rack of lamb with potatoes and 6oz fillet steak with home-cut fries and some vegetables, both were very good, the sauces were both a little sweet. To finish we had a plate of local cheeses which I think were served with bought-in crackers and small-chunk Branston, nice and tasty. Total bill with a couple of drinks and glasses of wine was around £60, which was good value. Before leaving we asked about the rooms and asked to see one of them. B&B for two is from £92 to £136 depending on room, but if the dinner is anything to go by this represents good value for the standard of hotel and room..
