I stopped by here a number of Saturdays ago with my wife and twins for our morning coffee. Every weekend we try to visit a new coffee shop, and on this day we were headed to Idlewild, so we made a detour to The Coffee Bean Cafe. This coffee shop is located right on Route 30 and is rather large inside. They have their coffee roaster on display, as well as a small area near the cash register with items for sale and a display case. They also have plenty of seating and the inside has a warm feel with high ceilings, colorful walls, and natural light coming in through the big front windows. One wall features coffee themed artwork, and another area has stacks of burlap coffee bean sacks labeled by origin, which gives the shop a cozy roastery atmosphere. For my coffee on this morning I ordered a large oatmeal cookie latte. My drink ended up being pretty good because the coffee flavor was present and it really did taste like an oatmeal cookie. There was plenty of oatmeal flavor combined with a lot of sweetness. My wife also enjoyed her iced coffee and liked the rich flavor. The bottom line for me is that I would come back here again in the future. Both my wife and I enjoyed our coffees, and the shop itself was a nice place to stop. read more

The Coffee Bean Cafe is a nice little spot to meet up with friends, have a meeting, or work remotely. They have good quality coffee and roast beans in house. They have a selection of breakfast / lunch items as well as a pastry case. The service is good - generally it seems like they have college students working and they know their coffee! Everyone has always been friendly. My favorite drink is the "mocha Bianca". They also have a seasonal beverage selection as well. read more

I have some practical advice on how to enjoy your experience here. First: I had an egg and cheese sandwich on an everything bagel. They grill it on a panini press. It was really good, nice and warm. Lots of flavor. And the coffee was quite good too. The cafe was bigger than I expected, good atmosphere, welcoming. Now here's my advice. Folks complain that they're understaffed. They didn't seem to be, but regardless, just order ahead online. I did and everything was ready exactly when they promised it. Here's my other advice: The parking in front is super dangerous. There's only a few spaces and it backs right onto a fast speed highway. But there is a legitimate parking lot in the back with direct access from Range Street! So just park there and use the back door to enter the cafe. read more

Nice place for coffee and a sandwich. Lots of regulars gather here so you know it's consistently good. I had the breakfast sandwich number 1 which was on a bagel of my choice, egg, sausage and cheese. It was very filling and very tasty! My coffee was a Cafe au Lait with skim milk. Also quite good and reasonably priced. The space is clean and nicely decorated and you can choose to sit at a table or in a comfy sofa or chair. The only thing is there's never more than 2 people working so the service is a little slow. Don't stop here when you're in a hurry! But do stop in for some great coffee drinks , sandwiches or some whole bean coffee to take home. read more

Tried to be understanding as they were short staffed, but when you wait in line 30 minutes for breakfast only to be told while ordering they didn't have enough staff to make sandwiches meanwhile people ahead of us just recieved sandwiches and others seat were eating sandwiches. Coffee is weaker than we like. Gluten free bakery options are lackluster. There was no real gluten free food options other than premade muffins. Overall the place is just ok. Know your coffees because the barista was less than knowledgeable. read more

The manager was very knowledgeable, and I ended up grabbing 3 different bean varieties to try. Having the first one today (Dark Side of the Moon)... and Wow! It's fantastic. My latte was also top notch. So glad to have discovered this place as it's everything a coffee shop should be. Nice atmosphere, great attentive staff and top notch product. service needs work. being understaffed is understandable in the food industry and it happens, but waiting in line for 20 minutes while there's a line of three (including myself) is ridiculous. there's no rush to get these people's food to them and get them outta there. on top of that staff is short and rude. read more

Visited on a whim while driving through Latrobe and it was the best decision ever. Great spacious coffee shop with not only a cafe, but a large selection of beans, chocolate, mugs, and other cute items available for purchase. Service was friendly and quick. Their meadow matcha (one of the spring drinks) and caramel macchiato were perfectly made. There was also a large indoor seating area that would be perfect for getting some work done or chatting. Overall would highly recommend checking this place out! read more

I live in New York City but grew up in Westmoreland County and I get home only a couple of times a year. A couple of years ago, a friend bought me a pound of the Abbey Road beans for Christmas and it was crazy good. (He'd never tried it. We're Beatles fans, so he bought it on a lark.) It was one of those things you find just by chance. Thankfully, they have mail order service with free shipping if you buy enough beans, so I've been able to get these beans. The Dark Side of the Moon beans are excellent too. read more

When you go to a place like this, you're reminded of what a coffee shop should be like. They have a great selection of beans, even in 5 pound bags, and the manager (owner?) told me that no, beans are not only good for a couple of weeks, but are fine for 3 to 4 months. He also showed me the results of their grinder, which made me realize that I've been grinding too fine. He went through their huge selection, and was Frank enough to tell me of the roasts that he doesn't like. (I've written before that "it's all good" is not a useful recommendation.) (Side note: I really wish coffee shops - and all the others - would cease with the iPad app that practically demands a tip. Enough with the tipping, or let's make it universal - tip your mechanic, your butcher, and your orthodontist.) I left there with a great cup of Oaxaca, six bags of beans, and came back the next day for another cup of coffee. The next time I'm in the area, I'll stop in again. read more

This place is spot on. I love the atmosphere and the coffee. I had the Oaxaca, which was recommended to me. I was not disappointed. I used to travel for work and would check out all the coffee shops throughout my travels. I was apprehensive to visit this coffee shop upon moving to Latrobe, but I am happy I did. This place is the only coffee shop in Latrobe, and it was a welcomed addition. It's a comfortable place to do work and hang out with people as well. The food is decent and the coffee drinks aren't bad. They won't wow you, but they will most likely do the trick. Recommendation: Don't buy their coffee to take home. I once bought their raspberry chocolate coffee when it was on sale, and while it smelled like the real deal, I could barely finish the bag. Stick to the drinks. read more

Went in a few days ago right before the closed and had a double shot on ice. It's was really good! The girl that served me was fast and pleasant. I was visiting a friend that lives in Latrobe and unfortunately I can go to this place everyday like I wish I could. It doesn't look like much when you see it from the outside but the moment you walk in you are transported to the most cozy spot. The bathroom was so clean and smells of coffee and a hint of hazelnut are amazing. One thing I would have liked if it could have been open later. 6pm is early for me. read more

Not much of a coffee person but the place is relaxing and whoever decided on the design has a good eye for style. The owners are real nice and that is a major plus. One of the benefits of a private business owner. I always come to the conclusion that if you are going to spend your money and they offer the same product at the same price then go to the family business owner. You'll be happy you did. read more

This was a very cool coffee place. They roast their own beans (awesome!!!). I tried a regular coffee and thought it was very good. My wife tried a cold, flavored coffee and she really liked it. They had a lot of flavors for her to pick from. I would highly recommend! read more

My husband and I stopped at the coffee bean for breakfast and a good cup of coffee. We were not disappointed! It was exceptional! We had white chocolate raspberry scones that just came out of the oven. Actually so good we went back for another one! I had a breakfast bagel sandwich. Made with a gluten free thin bagel, eggs, lettuce, tomato and peppers! It was really good and so fresh! I will definitely go back since we travel this way usually once a weekend! first off, owner is extremely rude. i had a bottle of water i brought from home, and he told me to get rid of it because he didn't want it in his restaurant. i tried to throw it away and he flipped out, saying that he doesn't want "my" trash in "his" garbage. so i had to take it out to my car. it's WATER not an atomic bomb. coffee reminds me of mcdonald's. nothing special. i don't know why you'd want to come here to do work?...just stay home and make your own coffee next time read more
