Opening 9am til 11pm seven days a week, Milo is probably the hardest working venue on Lark Lane too. I can't think of another business in this area that serves breakfast through to late night cocktails - if you wanted to you could probably live here! The menu is a eclectic mix of posh American diner-esque fare like 'triple stacked' buttermilk pancakes for breakfast and the frankly outrageously good Hero hamburger and a sort of Mediterranean (ever had a 'Spanish Butty' for breakfast - you should try it!) and British gastro pub fusion (the posh fish finger sandwich and Winter vegetable risotto are other favourites of mine). As for the desserts...approach with caution. They are not for the faint hearted. You'll feel like you need a bit of a lie down after the sticky toffee pudding. The wine choice is pretty good and there is an interesting mix of beers, both bottled and on draught. There is also a refreshingly concise list of classic cocktails (some with a twist) and an impressive and classy collection of whiskeys and gins. The Loungers interior style fits in perfectly to the Lark lane vibe with its flock wallpaper, retro photos and prints and shabby chic furniture. Only a few weeks after it first opened it already felt like this place had been here for years. A mention must also be made of the always friendly and helpful staff who help to make a visit to Milo a very pleasant experience all round. Highly recommended.

But once inside it's as though you've been allowed to sit and drink tea in someone's lounge, as well, it is kind of someone's lounge. It's very retro and bright and they have a wonderful little fire place and 70s mismatched plates and cups and saucers. The appeal of this place definitely has something to do with the homely and welcoming vibe, even though it's small you feel rather special here. The food is all veggie and they have loads of healthy stuff (Greek yoghurt with toasted oats, fresh fruit and honey, I think so!) and drinks especially are dead cheap. They also have the most amazing homemade cakes- the baked cheesecake and cream, is a sure winner, so if you fancy a snack and a little step up into a quirky little cafe this is the place to go after a stroll down the kooky lane of Larks.

The service is not too quick but the staff are friendly and this makes up for any waiting time as they do give a good level of customer service. This place is average and nothing more but as I have said you could do much worse than pop in if you are in need of a culinary energy boost.

There is often a bit of a wait for the food to be brought out, but you don't really mind if the food is good, which it is. This is a great place to enjoy a quiet bit to eat and sit and read your paper or book. It is a nice peaceful little haven away from the hustle and bustle of Lark Lane.

If you're with others, or just not such a pretentious newt, Keith's works well as an afternoon meeting point or somewhere to go that won't be full of lairy scum. This is largely down to the drink selection, there's no taps on the bar for instance, so you'll be forced to consider your choice well before ordering. As for the toilets, it was endearing how awful they were, like finding out that friend of a friend who seems cool in fact has their own disgusting foible.

The food's great, the coffee equally so and the service comes with a warm, friendly smile. It's the ideal location for a light lunch and would be perfect for lazy weekends spent catching up with the newspapers. They stock a range of organic squashes, pastas, olives, oils and roasted vegetables in jars. The service is friendly and quick when the cafe isn't too busy. When it is packed full of customers you have to wait a bit longer but this is understandable wherever you go. There is ample seating at the cafe at large tables or at the window on a bar stool. They also have a few tables outside for when the weather is nice. As well as eating in the cafe offers take away and they also advertise the option of catering for functions. The food comes in generous portions and is mostly well cooked. If you have an issue with the food, for example an undercooked egg like I did, the staff are very apologetic and rectify it as quickly as possible. Rather than simply being the kind of place you would attend to grab a quick breakfast this establishment provides classier food in the form of Panini and some quality sandwiches to boot. The atmosphere and decor here is excellent also and this means that a meal here of any kind is a pleasurable experience just as eating out should be. The staff are great here also and this is a testament to how well this place is run and the quality of service it provides.
