I'm very surprised this place has a 4 star rating based on my experience, which truly was worthy of 2 stars, maybe 1. I think people like this place because it's crowded, has a modern look, and seems "higher end". If you look past these superficial benefits, this is really not a good coffee shop. The only thing we enjoyed was the mate tea. First, there is not enough seating. At 2 pm, the place was completely packed with customers on laptops. Second, there are flies in the pastry case. I really can't think of anything less appetizing. Third, the food is subpar based on the prices. We ordered a avocado toast with a poached egg and not only was it not seasoned but the egg was mostly cooked. Lastly, service was not great. Waited 20 minutes for my veggie burrito before they came to my table and let me know they ran out. We ordered seasonal drinks (apple pie chai and Mexican mocha) because they sounded interesting. I couldn't actually taste the chai in my drink, but apple cider and oatmilk make for a tasty combo. The cayenne in the mocha was off-putting to me but my husband liked it. I would go back to try their signature drinks next time. Great coffee, great ambience and friendly service ! I realy like the fact that they have a large parking lot attached so we dont have to spend ages looking for parking ! The industrial design is cool yet cozy. They have a separate meeting area ( media room ) that you can reserve for meetings ( holds upto 12-14 people ). I've walked by this place many times, admiring the decor, and I finally had a chance to come check it out. Since it was the afternoon, I opted for a matcha latte rather than my usual coffee. Theirs has just the right amount of sweetness, and you can choose your milk (regular, oat, almond). Their online ordering system is easy to use, indoor tables are spaced out, and they have a very good amount of outdoor seating, which is great. Staff was super friendly and helpful. We were forgetful and went to get our drinks too late, so they tossed them, but they graciously remade the drinks and remembered our exact order despite how busy it was! The food is great but service may be limited. I ordered brunch which called for poached eggs however they came hard boiled. When I showed it to the person in charge she said they could not replace them with poached eggs. I found that strange. As another staff checked in with me after meal was finished, she mentioned that the eggs are pre-cooked in batches which was why they could not re-do the eggs, so if you plan to come here, go in knowing that the eggs have already been pre-cooked. Coffeebar used to be one of my favorite spots. I think with turnover and bad training it's gone down hill. I ordered a basic vanilla latte the other day and it tasted like a regular latte and super bitter. I also ordered a waffle they had on special and it was undercooked. They also only have a part time baker now, so you never know what pastries they will have. I will actually never go there again. I have had similar experiences at the Redwood City location. I would rather go to Starbucks where quality assurance matters. read more

This is a very pleasant coffee shop, and a great place to hang out on the weekends. Coffeebar has great cold brew, which is why I keep coming back. However, the food is never quite what I want it to be. I usually get the vegetarian breakfast burrito, but they just changed their menu so I switched it up and got the eggs Benedict. They give you three eggs, and even though they're small eggs, it was too much food. They also serve all three eggs on a baguette, which was very difficult to eat because you can barely cut through a baguette with the butter knife they give you, and with all three eggs on one piece of bread, nothing stays where you want it. I've also tried their scones which I think are very delicious and not too dry, and the breakfast panini which just felt like it was missing something. I can't speak to breakfast burrito now since they changed it, but it used to be good enough for food that you get because you're there for good coffee, but not good enough to drive you here for the food. read more

I went there this morning to meet friends. Because the yelp page said 'dog friendly' and my friends said we'd sit outside, I brought my German Shepherd. When I got there, they were seated inside, so I went in, ordered and joined them, but at one point I noticed a sign on the door "service animals only." I usually look for such things and don't bring my dog to places where she is not welcome. None of the employees said anything to me, and my dog was, as usual well behaved. I stayed even after reading the sign because we were having a good time, but please update the information on Yelp so people aren't misled. If an employee had asked me to leave, I certainly would have done so. There are outside tables, so perhaps you mean that dogs are welcome there, but people have to go inside to order, so can dogs accompany their owners inside the business or not? read more

Should've known at the espresso this place would be mediocre. We ordered a double shot espresso mochiatto , seasonal toast, avocado toast, coffee bites & two muffins. Service at the counter was good but it took 25 minutes from ordering to receive our toast. My espresso was bitter, but not as bitter as the barista preparing it . I asked for my order to go and when I asked for a cup he had rolled his eyes and couldn't even communicate he placed the cup on the counter. He was rude to everyone that asked a question or complained about their order. Seasonal toast was burnt as pictured , cream cheese tasted like goat cheese, blueberry compote had no reason to be in there since it tasted like dirt. Bread was also very harsh in flavor didn't match the toppings. Avocado toast was ok, not worth the $13. As for pastries we ordered - all extremely dry. I feel like everytime I come to this coffee shop I have a different experience. Some baristas are great with actually looking at your order, while some just glance. Today I had decided to go in and try their chai latte. I ordered it extra hot with no foam. Pretty standard. They were really quick with making it, however when it was put in front of me I noticed it was a lot of foam, so I had said excuse me, I had ordered it with no foam." I used to work in a coffee shop so I understand that sometimes you misread or forget something in someone's order. The barista then told me, "oh that's not foam, that's aerated milk"....for those who do not know, aerated milk is what makes foam. It's a super simple solution, just scoop out the foam and add more milk. I honestly was super tired and just said screw it and left. By the time I had gotten to work, 3 mins later, about an inch and a half of my chai was foam. Super disappointed. Not to mention the chai tastes like cinnamon and cardamom water. read more

So I've been sitting here for about 3 hours now and I feel compelled to write this review because I'm just truly enjoying my time here. I've gotten so much work done while also relaxing, enjoying a nice glass of wine and a grilled cheese/tomato soup combo! The jasmine pearls tea is very good too. The interior (and exterior) of this cafe is very modern, yet cozy. When you walk in, there is a small wine bar with booths to sit at on the right side, and to the left there seems to be more people doing work, although you can sit wherever you want. When I arrived, the cashier (didn't get his name - younger asian man) was friendly and recommended the jasmine pearls tea to me. I was given a number and was pleasantly surprised to find there were some open tables for me to sit at. I believe the drinks are called out and you retrieve those at the counter in front, but if you order food, they bring that out to you. Later, I ended up getting a glass of Pinot Noir which Peter, the bartender tonight, recommended to me. I wish I knew the name of the wine, but basically it was just a tasty light-bodied fruity wine that tasted great with my soup/sandwich. Peter is awesome - he came to check on me a few times throughout the night even though I was all the way across the restaurant and made conversation with me. I would have never expected that would happen at a cafe, but I really enjoyed talking with him and thought it was nice he went out of his way to check on the patrons! I had an odd hour to spend in the area on Sunday morning. So, decided to try this place mainly because of free wifi. That purpose was served. Wifi is easy to connect and speed is great. My friends ordered a jasmine brown sugar latter, and an iced vanilla latte, while I ordered a lavender lemonade. The lavender lemonade was extremely refreshing, with a nice hint of lavender flavor. There's plenty of non caffeinated options if you don't drink coffee. The interior is spacious, thoughtfully decorated, spotless and perhaps ideal for college students to do their homework. Unfortunately, everything else was horrible. As soon as we walked in, customers in front of us got confused about where the line to order was ( not their fault, there were no directions) and the cashier just blankly stared at them instead of navigating them. When it was our turn, it was apparent that the cashier wasn't trained properly on customer service. She had the attitude that made us feel as if we were famished slum-people asking for a bowl of porridge from an evil dictator in a dystopian movie. She made us forget we were in a very upscale building in menlo park. The latte on the other hand came out nice and toasty but I could barely taste the espresso in it which was disappointing.
