I had an issue with my AC not staying cool. I called a few places but I was unable to get an appointment that was good for my current work schedule. I called Colair and I was able to get an appointment the same day I called. Technician Eddie Ramirez arrived at my home on time and as promised. Eddie greated me with a smile and a firm handshake. Im old school, so the firm handshake and eye to eye contact told me a lot about Eddie and I didnt even know him. Eddie asked me a few questions about my issue and explained to me in detail what he was going to do. Eddie went to work right away. Eddie's work ethic was thorough and professional. Eddie told me exactly what the problem was and showed me photos and a video of what he observed. To show me a video and pictures of the problem was exceptional customer service. Eddie could of walked in and told me anything but I could tell Eddie was proud of the company he was representing. Drum roll. Eddie showed me the bill to repair the problem. I was really hoping the matter was not major. The estimate was very reasonable and normally I would have no issues paying the cost for the repair. I explained to Eddie I was having a hard time due to the government shutdown. I had to wait until the boss, my wife, came home to see what we could. All kidding aside, Eddie gave me so many options to pay. Eddie talked me through every payment option the company had. I felt Eddie was real and was truly looking out for me, the customer. Eddie said he would also discuss the matter with his manager so I could get the best deal/price. My wife and I were able to get an excellent price and a payment plan we could afford. The kind of payment plan that doesn't keep you up all night. Sometimes when you write a review for someone like Eddie, you really cant express in words how the person made you feel. Eddie made me feel the repairs would be completed in a professional, timely manner, because Eddie was going to do the job. I had trust in Eddie from the time he shook my hand. Eddie represented Colair in such away that I will be a customer for life. Eddie impressed me that much. To be so young but so courteous, well mannered, and professional is a hard quality to find. The are total scammers out to get the bill as high as possible for things that you don't even need. They are deceptive to get you to sign. They ripped me off for 10,000 for a 3 ton unit that I didn't even need for the size \of my house. Now, 3 1/2 years later because of their poor installation I have to pay another contracter to fix their mess. I don't trust them and wouildn't even trust them to properly install a door knob on my door! read more

I don't usually leave negative reviews, but my experience with Colair Inc was disappointing enough that I feel obligated to share. I would not recommend this company. I had an AC issue at one of my properties in McAllen and chose Colair based on their strong reviews. I spoke with Sarah, their receptionist or dispatcher, who told me a technician could come out but that there would be a $99 diagnostic fee. I pointed out that their website clearly states they offer free quotes. She acknowledged this and confirmed the $99 would be waived. Based on that, I agreed to move forward. Later that day, at the very end of the workday, conveniently, I got a call from a tech named Fabian. He told me he was about 20 minutes out but brought up the $99 fee again. I reminded him that Sarah had waived it, but he insisted that was a mistake and they don't waive that fee. I asked how that could be a misunderstanding when it's clearly advertised on their own website. He wouldn't budge and refused to honor what was originally promised. At that point, I canceled the appointment. If a company can't stand behind what they say before even stepping foot on the property, I don't want to find out what other bait and switch tactics might follow once they're working on my equipment. It's not about the $99, it's about the principle. I waited an entire day for nothing, only to be told the original agreement wouldn't be honored. I never got the chance to see the quality of their work, so I can't speak to that. But if you value working with companies that are honest, professional, and stick to their word, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. Colair lost out on much more than $99, because I was ready to bring them ongoing business. I own several properties and businesses in the area. On Sat March 15 our air handler quit blowing resulting in no A/C on a 90 plus degree day. I diagnosed the problem to be a capacitor on the blower motor. These run from 10 to 15 dollars on Amazon and can be installed in under 5 minutes. When I called Colair for the part, I was told they wouldn't sell the part because they didn't have it but they could have a service truck out on Monday. I then asked how could they fix my problem if they didn't have the part. They just wanted the service call which I imagine is 100.00 plus. Don't get drawn in by their advertising which stresses service because all it is is lip service. Exploiting snow birds isn't much of a business model and will be remembered when I'm ready for a new unit. read more

I live in Mission part time and my Condo was having a hard time cooling so I called Colair. After speaking with the customer service department it took about 2 hours for them to expedite a service tech to my home. After a diagnosis the tech gave me some options that were long and short term, based on my budget I went for a quick fix. That was about 2 weeks ago and it is going good. I was advised to get a Comfort Consultant out to see if a new system would make sense instead of soaking money in repairs, I'm looking forward to his visit next week when I am back in town. I had my duct work done with this company. The first people sent by the company did a bad work. I was not able to sleep in my bedroom because of the noise and the air flow was imbalanced. I called a week later and was told that everything was fine. I explained all difficulties we were facing after the work was completed. We could not sleep at night and I had to take my daughter to see her Pediatrician because of my acute sinusitis. Finally, the company sent me another group who came and redesigned the duct work system and fixed the problem. Following the second repair, I found a crack in my roof. I reported it to Steven Ocana was told me the guys who did the duct work claimed that the damage was old and was not caused by them. I explained to him that the damage was not present prior to the repair. I trusted this company based on the reviews and gave the check when the job was completed for the first time. in 2022 I had Colair install a brand new system. compressor and air handler. in one day they removed the old system and installed the new system at a cost of $6,000. I had received other bids and they were pretty much all the same. the new Carrier system is warranted for 10 years parts., labor warranted for 1 year. Two years later the system stops working, I called Colair. i am told the drain line is clogged. I had them blow out the drain line for a charge of around $350.00, and they also charged for a service call of $99.00. I thought it was odd since I had them do the work, they would credit back the service call but my request went un answered. 3 weeks later the system stops working, I called Colair, remember 2 years earlier i bought a brand new system from them. The tech comes out and tells me the compressor is froze, either a manufactured defect or surge. The 2 year old compressor he says has to be replaced. The compressor is warranted by carrier so all I am required to pay is labor. I thought this could not be so bad, how much could the labor be? The tech sends me 3 estimates, understand I paid $6,000 for the entire system, parts and labor. The first price is $5,846.12 I call this would you like a hot apple pie and fries with this (selling me up) 2nd choice $$4,500, this is a price to sell me a service and labor warranty, the 3 rd price they are feeling generous with 10% discount, labor and Freon to replace the warranted compressor $2,786.61. I just purchased and installed a brand new system for $6,000 and to replace one component that was warranted was almost 50% of that. I told Colair to forget it, looked for another company that worked with carrier that could get the warranty honored and without trying to sell me up charged me $1,500. My point for this review, get another bid even when dealing with warranty work. I felt colair's bid was like stealing from a customer. Don't let them steal from you. read more

I was told by a high level supervising technician that my 2 year old TRANE units were considered a "throw away unit" meaning that these models were only meant to last 2-3 years before needing to be replace. He said that my coolant level was 1 out of 10, so basically empt. The compressor was bad. The static pressure was .42 which is high according to him. He said that with all these problems COLAIR would decline to repair anything and advise to replace for about $10k each unit, over $20k total. I called the TRANE representative for my area to inspect the system as a second opinion and they found that the compressor was fine, coolant level was 9.5 out of 10, and static pressure was normal. I will ended up paying closer to $1k in repairs vs the $20k COLAIR quoted as needed. How is this legal? I asked for my $198 fee back that I was charged to be told that my 2 year old system was a throw away. read more

They were quick to send someone over to my home for an estimate and was given many options and recommendations. While other companies had great costumer service, Colairs is second to none.
