I am a patient of Dr. Nicolai's. I am a repeat patient from his former practice. This location is closer to where I live now and I'm so happy I can continue to see him for my neck pain flare ups. Before the actual adjustment patients will use either the traction table, physical therapy stretches, or electro-stim TENS machine to bring information to the pain area and allow for relaxation of the muscles before the adjustment of the bones. Dr. Nicolai checks on you during the warm up and will change the settings for comfort. My pain problem involves needing my neck cracked and that takes a lot of trust. Dr. Nicolai is very gentle and never forces anything. Sometimes he has to play the kid photographer and says things like "think about your right knee" just as he cracks my neck which is really helpful in relaxing for me. Dr.Gross is amazing. I called and he happened to pick up her was so friendly and comforting over the phone. His assistant was able to get me in on the same day. I came in for lower back pain which I am very familiar with. I've been seeing a chiropractor on and off for 10years. He gave me so much attention and took his time between each adjustment which I have never experienced and it was truly life changing when you have back pain and you have been to many people. I've only been once but look forward to going back. My adjustment was exactly what I needed. He gave me an apple at the end and it was such a nice reminder to take care of myself. He wasn't pushy about my next visit and made me feel like I also knew what was best for my body. Often times Dr.'s make you feel as if they only know what's best. I moved to Cold Spring from New Rochelle at the end of December. Before I moved, I was seeing a chiropractor near where I lived to help with my lower back pain (35 years worth) and a debilitating left hip (I could not stand for more than 5 minutes.) The sessions were improving my hip and keeping my back from deteriorating further. It was imperative that I continue the sessions when I moved to Cold Spring. Not wanting to travel over an hour each way to Westchester, I sought a local practitioner. I talked to a few on the phone from the surrounding area and liked what Dr. Gross had to say. So I went for a consultation and first visit in January. I've been seeing Dr. Gross since, and I am extremely happy with his work. My hip has vastly improved and my back has not deteriorated any further. In fact, it usually feels much better after a session; and I go, on average, twice a month. The sessions themselves are extremely relaxing and beneficial. His method of applying heat and having you rest for 15 minutes before he manipulates you, does wonders to relax you and prep you for the adjustments that he does so expertly. These sessions are also a great stress reliever! Truly! Dr. Gross gets all the stars. I recommend him highly to anyone in need of a chiropractor (or just to relieve stress!) I went to Dr. Gross first for my daughter's hip injury, While I was waiting and rubbing my arm due to pain and numb feeling. A few days later, Dr. Gross called me to ask me to come because he concerned the pain in my arm actually was related to the pinched nerve on my neck. Since then I went for his treatment for less than two months. Now I hardly feel numb on my fingers and I can move back my neck w/o pain and move my head around freely and feel very light with almost full range of motion. A few years ago, I was involved in an automobile accident. It did a lot of damage to my neck and back nothing super bad but enough to mess me up pretty good and to put me in constant pain everyday. I asked a few of my friends and family if anybody know a good chiropractor and the name Dr Steven Gross, came up. He had helped one of my brothers at an earlier time , and my brother recommended him to me. So I called him not expecting much , because I'm on disability now and have not a lot of money. I told him I wasn't sure how I was going to pay or even if the insurance company was going to continue paying for my medical benefits. He told me don't worry about it, we'll figure it out. I just want to see you feel better. He told me his practice was in Cold Spring, but he could come and see me at my house , if I just gave him the address. Well, dr. Gross has been making housecalls to me , for the past four or five months now.
