    Double Tree Forest Management

This is the worst experience I've had with any business. I don't think anyone deserves to be…read moretreated that way. I contacted Doubletree in February of 2024 to get my 11-acre property cleared. Initially we shot for mid-April to start the work. However, the biologist who was supposed to do a survey first, allegedly went on vacation for three weeks. On May 20, I called and asked for a new start date. I was told that they had picked up another job up in Sonora meanwhile, and that I had to wait. The "project manager" actually raised her voice at me when I asked a few more questions. Six weeks went by without another word from them. A mutual acquaintance offered to call for me as I didn't want to get yelled at again. We're now in early July. Meanwhile the fire season had started, and many tree companies go along with CalFire to the largest fires. As a firefighter myself, I totally get that. So I waited patiently. Doubletree had to go to the Park Fire in Chico, and right after that to the Line Fire in San Bernardino, which was 97% contained on September 5. At the end of August I was on the phone again with them and was told "We're wrapping up at the fire. As soon as that excavator is back from the fire, it'll come straight to your property. You're next in line." I clarified whether that meant a start date of September, and got some wishy-washy response, not yes and not no. On October 11 I left a message because I saw the excavator in the equipment yard. I got a call back and was told one of the excavators got dropped off (so they have more than one) but that they had to "revisit the properties they had been pulled from" when the fires started. No word of that was mentioned a month earlier. On October 18, the project manager came by my property to look around and take pictures. At that time I was told that the excavator had to go to the dealership in Sacramento for maintenance, which would take about two weeks. So we're looking now at early November for a start date. But it was crickets again for several weeks! On November 13 I left another message asking for an update. Winter was coming and I had hoped to get important projects finished before we get snow, projects I had wanted to complete during the summer originally. I desperately need to build a hay barn to protect the hay from getting wet this winter, but I can't build any permanent structure until the brushing is done. Same for the fencing, the wood shed, and a shop. I waited 8 days for a call back. Crickets! On November 21, I left yet another message. She finally called back and left a message, saying that they "might be able to start before Christmas, but there's no guarantee it would be finished before that." (Translation: I will have to wait until some time next year!). Let me get this straight: How do we go from "as soon as that excavator is back from the fire, it'll come straight to your property. You're next in line" to "I can't guarantee it will be done before Christmas?" The fire's been out for three months! Time and time again my hopes were raised just to get crashed a few weeks later! I called first in February, it's now almost December. I can say with a good conscience that I have been above reasonably patient. Most people I know would not have been as patient. Is this their idea of customer service? Or is it because I have an accent? Or because I'm female? I question if I would have been treated this way if I was a guy! This whole farce has caused me anxiety and emotional distress, and not being able to finish anything I had to get done this year. I wish they had the courage to tell people "Sorry, we're booked up for the year, we can't take on any more projects," instead of stringing customers along, letting them dangle and wait and hang in there, month after month after month! This is not fair to the customer! I wasted almost an entire year waiting around. I understand that stuff happens, but that doesn't excuse the smoke and mirrors or the passive-aggressive moments I experienced. There is no excuse for deception! You've been warned. Hire "Double-tongued forest management" at your own risk! I am hiring someone else now.
