I have spent the past year living in College Station. This has BY FAR been the WORST living experience I have ever experienced. - There was a violent shooting in the courtyard - My roommate among 4 others (that we know of) had their catalytic converter sawed off their cars in the middle of the night. - The maintenance men have entered my apartment numerous times without warning and without our presence. - The complex promises alarm systems in each apartment, when I called to have mine turned on they gave me an insanely hard time over it and then proceeded to tell me "oh and just so you know that doesn't call the police it just makes noise" - A friend living on the first floor had her windows banged on by a homeless tweaker whom the police had to take into custody. - The lot has ZERO streetlights and no assigned parking - The rooms were FILTHY upon move in - They have required that we move out during the day of our university graduation and will not change their mind. Upon bringing all of these concerns to the owners absolutely nothing was done. Even in regard to the shooting, all we got was a mass text saying that there was a "crime advisory". This has all in all been the worst experience I have ever had here and many if not all of the fellow residents I know strongly agree. College Station is a harm to the community and a horrendous place to live. If I could rate 0 stars I would. read more

This is such a terrible living environment I feel like the staff wrote those positive reviews because they only care about renting out as many rooms as they can. They place quantity over quality. After living here for a year, my views on College Station have changed drastically. When my 3 roommates and I first moved into our 4 bedroom, we were ecstatic. We each had our own locking rooms with our own private bathrooms, a spacious kitchen and living area, and a great sized balcony. We met some of our best friends here on the volleyball court and at the pool, and thought we were getting a great college experience. Halfway through our lease, two of the roommates moved back home. The great thing about this was we were not responsible for their rent because we have individual leases. What we were not expecting, though, was the electric bill being over $200 per month. What happened was, when our two roommates left, we were only getting $60 toward our electric versus $120 ($30/resident). The office was very short with us about this, and when our electric bills (which you DO PAY SEPARATELY. THIS IS NOT AN ALL-INCLUSIVE LEASE) sky-rocketed from $10/month to $200, we were caught off guard, especially because a 4-bedroom apartment is much larger than a 2-bedroom, so we were paying to heat 1200 sq ft versus the 800 or 900 a 2 bedroom is. The office also told us we would be getting new roommates about five separate times. Not once did we get new roommates. I had to talk to them specifically and ask if we were once and for all getting two girls placed in our apartment, to which the girl in the office said yes and that I should have received an email about this (they're favorite go-to. They never ever email you.) After I was given the names of the two girls, I contacted them on facebook. Turned out, they had each already moved into other apartments two weeks prior! Another issue we had well over once or twice, was the maintenance and office staff walking into our apartment whenever they pleased. We were two 20 year old females living alone having 40 year old maintenance men unlock and open our front door while we were asleep, changing, showering, or just lounging. No email. No phone call. No notice. When we brought this up to the office (in the lease it says they will give you notice before entering the apartment), they informed us that staff are allowed in the apartment, just not in the bedrooms. Still creepy if you ask me. Now, college station is residential and not just for students. So you do have older people living here (our downstairs neighbors were a group of old construction men) as well as families and, of course, rowdy college kids. The office does not do a very good job of placing families in one area and college students in another. There were numerous times cops have been called for noise complaints and have never showed up, and the parties the kids have here can last until about 4am. The volleyball court will be showered with beer cans, bottles, garbage, cigarette butts, etc. by the wee hours of Sunday morning. Another thing to point out is they do accept financial aid as rent. My roommate pays her rent this way and has never had an issue anywhere else. Second semester, her refund check did not come until April. The office was well aware of this and the school even gave her documents proving college station would be paid in full when the check comes. Month after month she was receiving eviction letters and phone calls stating her eviction process had begun and she was going to have to go through an attorney, all because the financial aid was not paid in full right away. So, if they say they will work with you, you need to be able to talk to them about this and make sure they are clear because apparently many other residents have the same issue where they are going to school but are being threatened to be evicted by the money hungry office. A few other downfalls about college station are: the internet. The wifi here is absolutely HORRIBLE. Bring your own router if you can. The signal never reaches where it is supposed to and when you have a paper due at midnight and you are trying to submit it at 11:45 and all of a sudden you "cannot connect to the internet", you're SOL. It's BAD. And if you use up your "daily limited quota", they slow down your internet even more. Forget about youtube videos or netflix. Neither load, and if they do, it's only for a few minutes. The furniture is cheap: the beds are very squeaky, kitchen table and chairs fall apart (then they charge you an outrageous amount to replace them), don't think about falling asleep on the couches, etc. All in all, the apartments themselves are great. The size is wonderful, the bathrooms are huge, bedrooms are very nice looking, the social aspect is great with the pool and volleyball court, etc. The major downside is the way the office is run. They are very reluctant to work with you because all they care about is the dollar signs. They are very unorganized, everyone in the office is on a different page, and they are not helpful whatsoever. If you can live far off campus and be okay with the downsides, college station is great. read more

I've been at College Station for the past year now, and I can honestly say this is the best apartment complex I've stayed at around the ISU campus. It has a pool during the summer, and the work out center is open 24 hours a day, and they have a free tanning bed. The management is very nice and helpful, and the maintenance always fixed everything very timely, including shoveling snow. I'm going to miss this place when I graduate. read more

I have lived here for almost a year and really enjoy it here. My apartment is very spacious and homey. I wish the rooms were bigger but I can't complain for the price we pay. Staff is friendly, maintenance is quick and on time and usually fixes the problem. I wish the kitchen was bigger but overall...it's a wonderful place to live. read more

We moved my son into CS in July 2015 and he was room mate matched with 3 other roommates. 2 of the roommates lived there already for quite some time. I was disgusted by how filthy the apt was. The other new room mate's mother and I cleaned the kitchen. It was horrible. There was no respect to the new people moving in. Took my son to dinner that night and came back to room mates smoking pot in the living room, I realized this was a college life but not very respectful again for the new kids. One of the room mates has his girlfriend living in the apartment but yet they are constantly complaining of the newer guys enjoying their apt. A group jumped 2 students in the parking lot and again nothing was done. Very disappointed with how College Station has handled the situation as it has been addressed all this situations. read more

Nice place to live with awesome amenities (pool, small fitness center, volleyball court, shuttle bus to uptown and downtown on certain nights). They have some nice little events for residents (pool party with food, Carmel Apple bar in the fall). A lot of ISU students live at CS. Sometimes they will be yelling outside on the popular nights to go out and drink. It's kind of hard to escape that with student housing, though. The prices seem fairly reasonable for what you get. Now all utilities are included in the price, which is really nice. The apartments themselves come furnished and they have a nice and home-y appearance. My dishwasher still didn't work after my roommate asked for it to be repaired last year, but that's my only complaint about the apartment itself. The only other bad thing I have to say is that I had some interesting experiences with the office staff. Some of their responses to my emails weren't very professional. I don't think it is proper to write sentences like this: "U owe $ please pay this by 3/2/12 thank u." When I have gone into the office, the staff was friendly and helpful, though. Overall, a nice and somewhat good priced place to live if you're okay with sounds of occasional rowdiness from drunk college kids outside your window. read more

College Station is a great place to live with just a couple downsides. I like that I pay one price for everything - rent, utilities, furniture, and amenities like a pool, printing, etc. I also like the feel of a student-focused apartment complex that's far enough away from campus that it doesn't get too loud. The apartments are quite small and the kitchen appliances and counters are outdated, though. Another downside is that the office staff is variable - some of them are really friendly and helpful, while others can be rude and careless. Overall, my roommate and I have made our apartment cozy and have taken advantage of all the amenities and love living here! read more

I've lived here since Aug. So far, so good. There's been minor maintenance requests, but they get resolved ASAP. There are SEVERAL opportunities to get discounts on rent/ free rent. That's rare. College station hosts fun events to get others involved. Close to campus. Quiet and reasonable! read more

I am a current resident at College Station. I would more than likely recommend these apartments. They are very clean and spacious. They updated furniture in the apartments here and there as well as added color to the walls and hardwood floors. I loved that. However, I definitely had a smaller room than my roommates despite them saying all the rooms were the same size in some shape or form. My bathroom was way smaller too. I also HATED the distance to campus at ISU. That was too far but if you're someone who likes be away from the hustle of Uptown then it would be perfect for you. Staff was kind and helped with any issues we had and maintenance was prompt. We only had one mishap with the staff when they accused us for smoking pot and having a party when no one was even at our apartment. They didn't bother to check and see and that was actually us, they just assumed. They apologized though so that was nice. I loved having the pool this past summer. That was great. Overall, they are very nice apartments and I would recommend them to someone who likes being away from campus. read more

This is my first year living at college station and I love it so far! I have friends who have lived here before and they loved it as well. There is plenty of space in both the 2 and 4 bedroom apartments. College Station also offers a free bus downtown and uptown on the weekends. Very convenient! The bus system to campus is also very easy to figure out. The leasing office staff is friendly and accommodating. The maintenance staff is timely and very friendly. I'd recommend living here if you want a sense of community and a nice apartment experience! read more

I've lived at College Station for about a year now and so far it's been pretty nice. It's all inclusive so I don't have to worry about paying any extra bills. Compared to most of the other places to live in Bloomington-Normal it is very affordable. I also really enjoy having on site maintenance. They didn't have that at the last place I lived at so sometimes we were stuck waiting 2 to 3 days for somwthing to be fixed as opposed to 2-3 hours. My biggest complaints would be that the bedrooms and kitchen area are pretty small in the four bedrooms and that we were not allowed to have pets in the four bedroom so I had to leave my dog with my old roommates. read more

College Station is good at processing maintenance requests quickly. Its also nice that each individual apartment has its own bathroom. My only complaint is the shuttle runs very infrequently and sometimes you are barely given any warning. i know that's only a small part of the whole experience, but its really unfortunate when you make plans and have to change them last minute all the time. As someone who is a big planner this is really disruptive for my schedule. read more

I took over a sublease for another person at the apartment. We worked through the lease agreement with the office staff which were not competent in their roles. One was unable to read my bank statement and the other who created the lease put down the incorrect rent ($60.00) more a month. After a complete check of the lease and us signing everything, I thought that it would be smooth sailing from there. However, two months later I receive a letter brought to my door by a maintenance person. When I asked what it was about, he could give me no information. I opened it while he was there and it was an eviction notice for a lack of payments (at this time I was two months ahead on rent). I had to go to the office and was told that "I would have to come up with the money or take care of it". I ended up contacting a manager and found out that it was their system that had made the mistake. If I would not have challenged them I would have had to pay $400.00 that they already had. It has been very frustrating living at a place that cannot seem to manage money or are respectful to the people living in the apartments. Also, there have been multiple mornings that I have gone outside to find broken beer bottles and food all over the sidewalks. Last week there was a grocery cart in the main area. I am looking forward to my lease expiring and going elsewhere. read more

My daughter has lived here for a year and while the year started off promising, it has quickly gone downhill. It started with a major water leak in her bedroom which caused the ceiling to collapse. She was moved into another unit, but without any of her kitchen supplies or any of her personal property, causing her to have to eat out every meal. We had to demand she have her rent pro-rated while she was out of her apartment. While they were repairing the unit, they thought nothing of leaving it unlocked for lengthy periods of time...while all of her stuff was in there! Fast forward to 2/10/16 when she found her first mouse. She reported the problem immediately and 7 weeks later, she has killed 15 mice to date. They started off just having maintenance bring up sticky traps and she took it upon herself to purchase better traps and has caught and disposed of every one herself. Keep in mind that when mice are trapped on sticky traps, it is up to the person that finds them to "dispose" of them as they do not die suddenly-they essentially starve to death until they are killed. For a young woman, this is not a fun experience. Orkin has been in multiple times and have yet to solve the problem and advised my daughter that College Station doesn't do any preventative treatment for vermin, etc, but just call them after there is a problem. She only has a month left in her lease but College Station refuses to let her out of her lease and instead say they have no further responsibility as they have called in pest control. I have contacted Snyder Companies, who owns the property and they are also not allowing her to just leave. They have said they can move her into another unit, but given that she only has a month left in her lease, she simply does not have time to move twice in one month. (she is a full time student and works full time). She simply cannot afford to pay rent for two places at the same time so cannot just leave. Nests have been removed from the stove, behind refrigerator and in exhaust vent in kitchen. Mice droppings have been found throughout the unit, including in her bedroom! It is truly a health hazard and she should not be required to stay there. In a nutshell, she is being forced to live in an apartment that has poison and sticky traps stationed around the kitchen so she isn't able to even use her stove. The customer service (or lack thereof) by College Station is an absolute joke. I have tried speaking with them repeatedly and they now refuse to return any phone calls or emails. I have filed formal complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the City of Normal. Do not, under any circumstance, rent from this company. We have dealt with a lot of local rental properties in Normal over the years, but this one is by far the absolute worst. read more

College station is a good place to live. The staff is very helpful when needed and are proud of their complex. They do their best to create a safe, clean, and good living experience for their residents. While it is a little costly, considering everything included (water, electrice, etc.) and the amenities (pool, fitness center, shuttle, computer lab) it is a fair price. college station is the place to live if you are in school! they are very very nice and clean living areas with large bathrooms and very acceptable bedrooms with individual locking doors. the complex is all inclusive with heating, cooling, water, and eletric all included in your monthly rent, which is very reasonable. The pool is very well kept, along with the volleyball courts, and if you love to be tan year round, they offer free tanning beds with your rent. Everything in the college station is up to date and very new. the fitness center has all new flooring and new equipment, the furniture in the rooms are brand new, and they even include washer and dryers in each complex! I enjoy my stay greatly at college station. Everyone is friendly and it is in a great location. about 2 miles from Illinois State. If youre a family, college station is also great for you due to its location away from most of the college ruckus down town. Rarely any parties occur here, and its a very quiet well kept complex! i highly recommend to anyone looking for a place to live! read more
