Although his website claims, among other things, that easy financing is available, this is not the case. Even 1/2 down ($5,000) was apparently not enough. They wouldn't even begin filing any paperwork until they had received all $10,000. Due to money transfer limits on my debit card I was only able to get them $9,990 on a Friday and the remaining $100 on the following Monday. That $100 prevented them from doing any work on my case. He also claims that he will provide a "vigorous defense". I was not aware of Mr. Zanol doing ANYTHING in a vigorous manner. Although I retained him on Jan 1 he did not, according to his secretary, begin to work on my case until the week before trial. He filed no motions to suppress evidence, although there was certainly grounds to do so, he said so during our initial consultation. I could best describe his courtroom manner as "prosecutor's bitch". When all was said and done I ended up with the deal that the prosecutor had offered before I even MET Michael Zanol. And that cost me $5,000 when I could have gotten it for free. $5,000 was returned to me since we never went to trial. By the time came to make that decision I had lost all confidence in his ability to provide me with an adequate defense during a trial. His appearance was that of a Santa Claus who had let himself go. As far as I could determine he owned two old ill-fitting sport coats with ugly ties. Easily the worst-dressed person in the courtroom barring the inmates. I would not recommend retaining this guy for anything other than a parking ticket if it was 1/2 off.

The judge in my case authorized a blow and go device on my car but she reminded the judge that I had multiple vehicles. The judge sentenced me to 24 hours of jail time with credit for time served at my arrest. She reminded the judge that I did not spend a full 24 hours in jail so......judge said oh, looks like you need to do some time in jail. After my sentencing, she ghosted me. No follow up call. No email. No information of what to do next. The court had my wrong address and I never got the court paperwork. I had to call her almost a month later and figure out what went wrong. She did go to court for me and she showed up but other than that her service was very poor.

In hindsight, we should have requested someone who specialized in non-profits, as much of her work had to be redone. That's not JDSA's fault - that was on me. However, Michelle, the firm's paralegal that deal with our corporate renewal has always been super on top of things and extremely patient as we were a bit in over our heads. We subsequently got pro-bono representation at a very large firm after our lawyer left JDSA, but the new firm didn't handle the renewal part, and Michelle was super kind to give me instructions on how to change the registered agent to myself and even went in to make sure I did my first filing correctly! Overall my experience was great. I could not recommend JDSA more for their affordability and for the chance to work with Michelle.
