So I am posting this for my mother: my father passed away February 18, 2025 so we were given the name of Misty at this firm to do the taxes for the estate. So we took all of the information to her prior to the end of February, and never heard anything from her. My mother went in to see her a number of times to check on the status of her taxes and Misty told her that she had never started them. April 14 Mom walked in to the office and was told she could not see Misty. That was the last straw. Mom left and spoke to an advisor at Edward Jones and they told her to go get the papers from Misty because they knew someone who would at least get an extension filled so her taxes could be prepared and filed properly. When she went back to Misty's office to get the papers, she was told Misty never received last year's taxes and that was why she had never started them. I don't know about you, but if I am hired to do a job and I don't have what I need to do that job, I usually ask for that information. Evidently, she is not that smart because she never reached out to Mom to say she didn't have it. It would not have mattered anyway, because we opened the folder and showed her that they were in there the whole time. That tells me Misty had no intentions of doing these taxes and was going to let a client get penalized for a late filing even though she had the information for almost 2 months. So if you want to use a CPA that literally does not do her job, or only does her job for a select few, by all means use Misty at this firm. I've been using Collins & Butler since 2002 for all of my personal and business taxes. Cheryl Bryan has always handled my account, and she is, quite simply, the best. Always there with a friendly smile, and always there with answers to those hard questions. We moved our home and business to Colorado in 2009, and although it might be more convenient to hire a tax accountant in Denver, why would we?
