Do not use Collinwood Excavation. This is the most unprofessional component i ever dealt with. Owner and employees. The stole my rake and ruined my shop vacuum. My concrete is awful. 1/2 high above my garage concrete and 1/2 below in 60% of my storm shelter. Concrete is all over my garage sheetrock. Including concrete hand prints on my wall. The shelter had 3 inches of water and mud inside my garage storm shelter. The 200 hydraulic jack was never refunded. I was told they would install a winch. Now they have the money and wont answer test or e mail. I wouldn't recommend this company for any job. I believe the good reviews are from family members. read more

Had roughly an acre excavated back in February. Owner was late showing up and very arrogant when he did. I should have sent him packing then but I didn't. He did a very substandard job clearing and stacking the trees. In fact, I had to hire someone else to come re-stack it just to get it to burn. The second excavator (who I did not know) said what the Collinwood excavator did was the worse job he had seen. The owner told me that he would come back and drag the roots and smooth the dirt once I got the trees burned. I informed him two weeks ago that it was ready and even sent him a picture showing the cleared lot. I got no response. I texted him today and he said it would be about three weeks before he would get back to finish the job. When I pushed him a little on the timeline his true colors came out. I hired him because he was veteran owned and had excellent reviews. I couldn't believe this was the same guy mentioned in his reviews. Today I noticed that every excellent review is from several months to several years ago and the only recent review within the past few weeks was a two-star bad review. I'm giving a 1-star because there are no negatives. The owner got really unprofessional in our text exchange this morning and even said that he would assure me to give him a 1-star by what he was about to say. I would NOT recommend hiring this company for anything! His estimator that first came and gave me a quote was a very nice young man. Don't be fooled, that guy isn't who you deal with after that. My husband and I meet with collinwood excavation about 3 moths ago to inquire about full site prep for building our home. The guy who came for the estimate to begin clearing the land was amazing on time and his estimate was within reason with other quotes we had obtained. However, the nest steps were the pad preparations. First issues was they would schedule a day and time to come walk the land and look at the blueprints and someone named Lindsey would call and or text stating someone would for example be there tomorrow at 9:00 and by that afternoon we still haven't heard or seen anyone. When they finally did show we were told that this could be done within a week for x number of $. The pad took several weeks to complete and we finally had to put their nose to the grinder as the contractors were ready to begin. The nighy before they were suppose to be done the owers text me saying we owed an additional almost $5,000 because they had to bring in more chert than estimated because they forgot the carport. They had recieved the blueprints for our home on muliple occasions and they still failed to communicate anything regaurding the price overage or their mistakes. Now we are $5,000 short for our home and have had to go back to the drawing board and further delay the building. The work seems to be good quality I just do not apreciate the fincaical surprise adn the lack of communication from the company. horrible work, horrible company. they told me it would be 3-4 weeks for install. after waiting 6 weeks, they were supposed to be at my house at 7am they didn't show up till 3:30pm. After installing the shelter they said there would be slight settling, it rained that night and we have a 18inch deep and about 6ft X 3 ft sink hole around our shelter and it leaks A LOT! After paying in full the company stopped answering the phone. they texted only and send out a young guy with a welder about 2 weeks later. he grinded and welded the places he thought might be the problem. he used a self admitted wrong welder due to no help to load the correct one. After the welding the shelter still leaks a lot. Collinwood excavation now says it's the shelter manufactures problem. i cantacted the manufacture and they are in Oklahoma and don't have any way to do out of state service calls. Collinwood excavation has since told me 3 fridays in a row they would have people out to fix it and have never showed up, they also compmatly stopped contacting me. I gave the company and owner several opportunity to fix this and not get a bad review but after paying $6,500 for a shelter to only have it leak and get treaded like dirt from the company, is ridiculous. read more
