I hired James Zimarrowski to represent me for a .09 non-aggravated DUI in 2015. I was disappointed…read morewith his lack of service. When I went to court, it was a favorable trial, I was actually able to get the charge reduced. Mr. Z told me that the DUI would be dismissed. That is not the case by any means. When you get a charge reduced, it is reduced not dismissed. The implications of this distinction is that I am unable to get the charge expunged from my record. You can get a dismissed charged expunged, which is what Mr. Z told me. He said, "By application of law, the chrage has been dismissed." This is incorrect. The charge was changed not dismissed, permanently remaining on my record. The reason I didn't give him 1 star is because he actually did show up to court, which is nice, and met with me on a couple occasions to discuss options. He charged me $2,000 which was fair, but when I suggested we should fight the DMV trial, he told me to write an additional check for $18,000! I thought is was absurd, which prompted this review. Also between emails he sent to the prosecutor in regards to the case, I saw that he wrote in incomplete sentences, and in a minimalist manner. He actually referred to me as "kid" in the emails, for example: "Kid wants reduced charge." "Is a good kid." I am a 25 year old business professional with an MBA, and I thought it was ridiculous to refer to me as kid. In the future I recommend Mr. Z to please refer to his clients as "Client, or Defendant." That seems much more professional. My advice is to contact a different attorney, Mr. Z seemed unwilling to go to litigation.
