After several return visits, to enjoy more of their outstanding chicken wings and fries, I finally came back and tried a burger. OMG - they are equally as good as their wings. Colombo's definitely serves up some delicious bar grub. I am a big fan of jalapeños, so it was an easy choice of what burger to select for my lunch. The Lava Burger, with its fried jalapeños, bacon and caramelized onions on top of a 1/2 lb. burger with a smear of chipotle mayo was the winner. The kitchen crew prepared it to my medium rare request perfectly. The toppings blended together and added so much flavor, that I didn't even miss having cheese on my burger. My fries were super crisp and lightly salted. Dipping them in some ketchup made them the perfect side for my burger. Colombo's has a good variety of draft beers with the majority of them be craft beers. They also, make good cocktails if that if your preferred adult beverage. The service is attentive and friendly, it has never disappointed me. Craving burgers and wings? I'd recommend, Colombo's. read more

Moved to the area not too long ago and heard from some neighbors this is a spot I needed to try. Cost efficient, close, and also very good! After going multiple times, I've got to say they earned the good rep. I've gone here multiple times and ordered their nine finger wings and they were amazing both times. They had just the right amount of spice, were cooked to perfection, and coated with a delicious sauce. I've heard other things on their menu is good too, like the burger and pizza. I'll be back to try those another time. The atmosphere inside is always good, with plenty of TVs to watch the game and also a full bar and a few games. Great wings, great prices, great service!! Lots of street parking and the place is "seat yourself, no frills" The wings were saucy, just enough spice and just enough smoke. I never had any wing that was smoked, fried and sauced lol. This was a surprisingly good combo. I also tried a basket of the onion strings and the sauce was SOOO GOOD. Stopped in here for the first time after seeing it on a TikTok. It did not disappoint. The burger was great. The wings were awesome. The pizza was good. Maybe not something we would order again but definitely a good option. Typical pickle bar with a good amount of seating and lots of TVs. We had a great waitress who was short staffed but doing a good job keeping up and had a great attitude she was patient with explaining everything on the menu that we asked about we would definitely return for the wings and casual environment. read more

As a Dogtown resident, I often forget about Colombo's because it's outside of the Dogtown strip of restaurants and bars. But after our latest experience, we will be sure to keep it top of mind. We enjoyed the dog-friendly patio on a pleasant evening. There are multiple TVs and maybe 5 or 6 tables. However, because it is smaller, it was harder to get away from the smokers, so if you're sensitive to smoke, it may not be the ideal patio. We ordered the bleu cheese burger & the grilled buffalo chicken burger. Both were excellent. I ordered my burger medium rare and it was actually cooked medium rare, which can be hard to come by. We substituted our fries for salads, which were much larger than expected! It was a good amount of food, well-cooked, and for a great price. We weren't there for happy hour, but I remember from a past experience that they have great specials too! Overall, a great experience at Colombo's. We will be back. read more

I went to Colombo's Cafe and Tavern for the first time ever last Saturday night. It is also the first Dogtown bar I've ever visited. It was a little smoky, but no more than one would expect. It's a clean place and not unattractive inside. Two stars. I'm a picky vegetarian who would rather order from the Kid Menu at most restaurants. At Colombo's, I opted for my favorite food anywhere else: a 9-inch St. Louis style cheese pizza for $6. It wasn't the best provel pizza I've ever had-it can't compare with those from the Hill- but I was so impressed by the Colombo's pizza that I ordered a second one and devoured it, too. One star. The service to our large party (at least 15 girls and 10 guys) was slow. I had to order my drink 3 times. It wins no star for impressive service, and it wins no star for "wow effect." Bottom line: I wouldn't mind going to Colombo's again, but won't go out of my way to make it happen. read more

I went here on a Wednesday night after 1 AM (3 AM bar). This place looks like a tavern. Dark thick wood is everywhere. There is a nice sized bar going down the longest wall. People are here and a few women are actually hanging out. A row of tvs is on the opposite wall to the bar, but I do not remember any by the bar. Very cool looking bartender is behind the bar. A couple girls are dancing to a jukebox. I am liking this place. I got a 3 buck beer and someone gave me a shot in a tiny plastic cup (I hate these tiny plastic cups). My friend points down. ????? The bar is surrounded at the bottom (watch your step) with a spittoon rail! Dark liquid and cigarette trash lines the rail. Good thing there was a few women inside or I would have blown off the whole place off after seeing that. This is a smoking and chewing bar, but I can see myself coming back. Another dive bar. Nothing notable except for their super fun bar staff. They have a different special every night. This is a mecca for city cops and creepy, older single men. For the twenty-somethings, late nights can get rowdy & definitely smokey. Juke box, shuffle board and pool tables in the basement. Don't forget your ID. Colombo's is a definite stop on St. Patrick Day merriment. They're typical "Dogtown," good, affordable food and drink in a fast way. Their service is excellent and professional; which is surprising by the looks of the place, complete with a wooden Native American lording over the bathroom entrance. Speaking of that, please be careful of which bathroom door you enter. They have a super-tasty fish sandwich, which I would prefer served as "fish and chips" but who cares? It's still delicious as a sammy. I've also enjoyed their Big Buck Hunter and Golden Tee games alongside their shuffleboard. My family and I are from out of town and wanted to grab a quick bite for lunch in St Louis, a friend had mentioned that there was a family owned tavern with great food so we decided to check it out. We were blown away by not only how amazing our lunch was, but the service and management treated us as if we were family! I had a cobb salad that was extremely fresh, loaded with veggies and the chicken had very clearly been cooked to order. What I found even more impressive is that they make all of their salad dressings in house and their honey mustard with a hint of ale was to die for! My boyfriend raved about the mini sliders on pretzel buns and their homemade chili cheese fries took us back home, they nailed a Detroit classic! I could go on and on about the food but what really impressed me was the staff. Our server Whitney was not only extremely attentive but very friendly, she knew we were from out of town and gave us several options as what we can do while in the city. You could tell that she genuinely cares about her guests and is passionate about taking care of others. Unexpectedly the owner came out not only to ask us about our experience but chatted with us about the city. As a restaurant manager there are things I have come to expect when I dine out, normally I am not one to write a review but my family left beaming and already wanted to go back for happy hour (which we did not get to experience, but looked as if they had some great deals). We will absolutely be back to enjoy more of everything Colombo's has to offer and are very thankful they give us a great beginning to our vacation! read more

I've never actually eaten here but I come here for drinks all the time. Their prices are incredibly reasonable and they have foosball and pool downstairs. The bartenders are super nice and as busy as this place gets, I never feel like you have to wait too long for a drink. Last night my boyfriend and I decided to stop by due to friends meeting up here. Immediately you notice the male bartender is rude, obnoxious, and literally yells at customers. We've all been to a crowded bar where you wait forever for your drinks but this place wasn't even packed and people are just standing with money in their hands patiently and he's yelling at them "You aren't the only guy in the bar!" I just kept staring at him in disbelief. (I've been in the restaurant/bar industry for almost 10 years) The female bartender was super friendly, funny, and seemed to have no complaints about how her night was going. We ordered the same two types of beers and one type of shot the entire time we were there. So every time we paid it was $3 per beer (we bought two at a time) and 1 $5 shot. At last call the male bartender was even mad we ordered one more round and when he brought us our two beers and a shot it was $12 instead of $11. Now, here me out. It's a $1 and what can you really do with a dollar besides tip a bartender? Not much. But I politely looked at my boyfriend and said that's not right the male bartender (who I wasn't even speaking too) freaked out and threw the dollar back at us. Almost like we hadn't tipped all night. (We tip a dollar per drink, every round.) I slide the dollar back towards him and stepped away. He continued to yell and make sure the entire bar knew we where "worried" about a dollar. The female bartender came to me and asked what happened and if I was okay and I said I'm fine and didn't want to explain what happened. Needless to say, I've never been a fan and try not to go to the bar but I definitely will not be going back again. read more

Colombo's is a smoking bar that is open until 3 am and no cover. They have a patio that you can sit out on. Some of the female bartenders are rude to customers, which turns me off from buying drinks from them. If you want to play music, you will be waiting for hours to hear the song you paid for. It's mainly a bar that you sit and talk with friends, no dancing. It's an ok bar to go to if you're in the area and don't want to pay a cover. But beware, if you plan on coming here as your last stop for the night, they do last call around 2:15 am. read more
