Amazing art classes in particular Oil painting with Scott Nickerson, who is exceptionally talented and gifted. He is an inspiring teacher. I have been fortunate to be in several of Scott's classes. Classes are kept on the smaller side so you get personalized attention. Spots fill almost immediately when posted so don't delay act fast if you want to join in. You need to buy your own supplies which a list will be provided to you when you enroll. They also have a custom framing department that has provided to be useful after you complete your masterpiece. One thing I love about moving in New Jersey is the amount of small Mom and Pop shops (small businesses) there are. I wanted to go to a new art shop that is not Michael's, Joann's, or Hobby Lobby (big box corporations). I looked up "art store near me" and fell upon this on Google. I saw that the ratings are very high and decided to take a day to come down to check the shop out. It is in an suite type of building but they did make signs to make it easier to find your way. Once walking in it was like an artist heaven. They have products I never seen before. I was lucky enough to meet the owner George and he is a personable person. You can tell he put a lot of love and dedication to his store and actually get to know his customers. He showed me what he thinks is best for acrylic paint and what I can try to work on. He was even nice enough to show me the brushes that had a big sale on them (and better quality than the ones I was about to get). He cares about his customers and would try to make sure you get things in your budget and not trying to upsale things to you. He also has a paint studio where he has his teachers he hires to teach some intermediate to professional artwork. And don't forget to sign up for the email program to get notifications about deals! Very happy I found Colorest. I stumbled in here looking for quality art supplies that you won't get at A.C. Moore or Michaels, which in this area is all you can find, frustrating. While I was in there I saw they offered art classes and decided to take oil painting with Scott Nickerson. I can't say enough good things about this class and Scott. Great teacher and good people. So happy to have found Colorest to fulfill the art student's supply list for college. Having ordered in the past from both Dick Blick and Amazon, it was nice to get to touch and feel and compare in person. The prices were very reasonable - and very unexpected since everything in Red Bank is usually much more expensive. This will be our supplier from now on. They offer student discounts (my daughter saved $18 today with that discount). Also they have a email list for specials they run. All three men working there today were extremely helpful and knew the store and the products easily - even though we had never heard of some of the supplies. One of the last remaining serious art supply stores in the region. High quality products not found in junky big box retailers like ACMoore. Outstanding instruction in various mediums.
