Great experience. Loved the Space Needle, but we came here for the amazing views at the Sky View Observatory. The Columbia Center in Seattle is 76-story structure which makes it the tallest building in state of Washington (933 ft). That makes the Sky View Observatory, the tallest public observatory in the Pacific Northwest as well. The way up is fast! You speed up 73 floors in about 70 seconds and it's a very cool immersive elevator. You have excellent view of Mt. Rainier and amazing city views including the Space Needle, downtown, T-Mobile Park, all of the region. The scenery is breathtaking. The views are breathtaking. Allow plenty of time to take it all in. Tickets are $25 for general admission, and it's worth every penny. read more

We came on a Monday afternoon and it was very quiet and not a lot of people around. Some of the retails stores were closed for business. Hence the 3 Yelp stars. read more

I still am in awe that I get to come here everyday! The downside is having to pay for parking. So if you can take a bus. Do it! Google map helped me with what the best bus routes to take. Getting the top and hanging out is worth the commute. There's so many places to explore and enjoy downtown city life This is a hidden gem of a place. It looks like it's just office space but there are four levels of food courts and shops. The observatory and sky view starbucks lounge is a must see and visit. Yes, this observation deck is worth a visit. $22 per adult. Staff super friendly and helpful. Deck has a full bar and restaurant, good amount of seating. This spot by far offers the best views of Seattle. This location has been bookmarked for almost a year, finally got to experience. Parking is expensive $19 for less than two hours. I live for city views. I love the feeling of being on the highest building of the city at night and just absorbing all its beauty. Apparently, Columbia Center has the best view of the city, so we didn't even bother going to the Space Needle. I read a previous review that they closed at 11PM, so we took our time. The first time, we came around 8:05PM, and the lady informed us that we had just missed it by 5 minutes, and that we should come back the following day before 8PM. So we did. We came at 7:45PM, and they didn't let us in because apparently, it'd take awhile to unlock the elevators. Wut?! Luckily, we had an extra night in Seattle, and came right after sunset the following day. We FINALLY got to go up. Third time's the charm. You have purchase your tickets on a machine on the first floor prior to going on the 73rd floor, so make sure to come, at the very latest, 7:30PM. There are also student discounts too, so make sure to hop on the opportunity to save a couple bucks. I was expecting a deck where you could go outside and freeze temporarily, but you're just warm inside the building. It's a beautiful 360 view, but it sucks that there are so many reflections if you're not within 2 inches of the glass. You can't get a nice selfie with bae, let alone a decent photo unless you press your lens against the glass with a steady hand. It'd be much nicer if the lights in the building were to be turned off, but that ain't possible, I know. read more

Go here for the Sky View Observatory! It is the highest you'll get, and has a spectacular view of the city. There are student discounts, too! Take advantage of this. A cafe is on the 73rd floor where the observatory is. I heard there's a nice Starbucks with floor to ceiling windows, too. I don't know which floor this is, sorry! Very well kept building. Came here for the Skyview Observatory on the recommendation of my friend since he said what's the Seattle skyline without the Space Needle in it. We arrived very late from the airport so I was glad that this place was open late since it gave us something to do that night instead of stay inside. It was surprisingly clear that night so we got a great view of all of Seattle and photos to prove it! A little weid to get to since you need to buy a ticket at the kiosk and then go up a set of elevators and walk to another set that will bring you to the right floor. They do have a cafe upstairs but it was closed by the time we got up there. read more

The best thing about this spot is 1) it's cheaper, especially if you have a student ID 2) your admission is good ALL DAY 3) this is the highest point in Seattle. Most people go to space needle when visiting Seattle for the view but i was told by a friend to check out the Columbia center observatory deck. It was AMAZING! Not only could I see way over the space needle, but the crowd at night was fairly non existent (maybe just another 10-15 people around the 8-930pm time we were there). On the 73rd floor skydeck is a small cafe/bar and a couple tables/stools to really enjoy the view. We started past 9pm to catch the sunset and night lights and really enjoyed it. read more

I did not go into the Space Needle on this visit, so I cannot compare the two experiences because it has been MANY years since I did go in the Space Needle, but I can say that this is AWESOME! If you're walking, you need to enter the building on the east side. Then they send you up in the elevator to a floor where you catch another elevator, which takes you to the 73rd floor. Once on the 73rd Floor, you pay your money. I think it was $12 and then you enter the observation area. Staff in the building are super friendly. The observation area is completely enclosed with glass, so you will have to deal with glass that might not be so clear when you take your photos, but it goes all but all the way around, so you have pretty much a 360 degree view of the Seattle area. Here is the cool thing, since you are up high, but not in the Space Needle, you can take pictures of the Space Needle and we all know how cool those pictures turn out, right? You can get nice sunset pictures if you time it right and it's a good sunset night. We had a cloudless sky, so the sunset wasn't as amazing as I'm sure it could be. Then you can get pictures far and wide of the city of Seattle and beyond. If your zoom is great, you can see right into the stadiums. You can capture the Great Wheel as it lights up at dusk. I recommend going up there just before sunset and then hanging out for a while. It's air conditioned and there are chairs to sit in and some exhibits to look at. They do have a restroom on the level as well. Overall, it's a really nice place to see the city. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! read more

The observation deck is a sight to see! $15 for adults and there are reduced prices for kids under 5 (free), as well as seniors, military & students (all $10). Located on the 73rd floor, the view is spectacular and, in my opinion, way better than that of the Space Needle! You get a 360 degree view of downtown Seattle & even further. On sunny days, you can even see Mount Rainier. Definitely a great place to check out if you're here for the first time! this review is strictly for those nightly visits to the Columbia Center. if i could give it no stars i would. we walked from the water front all the way up to 5th Avenue and made our way to this building. Believe me when i say that it wasnt an easy task! i have heard great things about the view and that this place was a MUST COME for anyone who visits Seattle. this is what my visit consisted of: rude workers who made it apparent that they hate their lives. dirty and dark windows that made it super hard to take pictures. there were fingerprints and glares that were unavoidable. we didnt spend more than 10-15 minutes max here. and to be honest... it was specifically us just sitting to rest because of the huge hike we made just to get to the columbia center. 50 bucks blown in a matter of minutes. as we were leaving... we mentioned how disappointed we were to the girl who sold the tickets and even she agreed with us. save your time and money- if you must make it out here.... i dont recommend coming here at night. read more

I've been an employee working in the Columbia Center for many years, and I have always enjoyed what the building has to offer. The lobby is pristine, the elevators are quick and high tech, and the tenants are all pretty content to be here. It is a hotspot for tourists to visit the observation deck on the 73rd floor (we happen to work right next door, the lone business on 73). The food court is pretty massive and there are several options to choose from with lots of seating. If you have trouble finding a place to sit during the lunch rush, try going up at least one floor to the atrium level. The building proudly hosts the Big Climb every spring to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. We were recently treated to a dozen cupcakes courtesy of the CAC Leasing Office for our tenant anniversary, which was is a fun new tradition we will look forward to in the future! We have enjoyed the beautiful views from our office, the courteous staff that work in the building and keep it running, and the top notch management provided by the CAC team. *Also, you can't just say you work here to get in to the observation deck for free. They will ask to see your Columbia Center badge. read more

It has very fast elevators and a SkyView on the 73rd floor but better yet come get your Starbucks here on the 40th floor and get some pretty decent views for free with your coffee or tea. This is arguably the best view in Seattle! I visited over memorial weekend and my friend who lives in Seattle has told me about this place countless of times. I thought this whole time the Space Needle was the best view in Seattle until my great friend told me about this place. I'm a sucker for 360 views of a beautiful Seattle city and I did not want to leave when I saw the 360 view of the WHOLE city. Honestly I never really paid attention to the building and I didn't know that they offer a beautiful sky view observatory. This is a must for people who are visiting the city and I would take advantage of visiting now because when we got there it was not busy on a memorial weekend at all. Parking wasn't too difficult as you can park in few of the underground parking structures around the building. If you get lost they're employees around the building that will actually guide you to where it is. Parking did cost around 10-20 dollars and up depending on how long you were going to stay there. We stayed only about two hours or so. When we found the building we were welcomed from the security guard. I would actually recommend to buy your tickets online instead of waiting in the front so they can quickly scan your ticket and you are on the way to the top. Honestly comparing these prices to the Space Needle ticket prices, these prices are a STEAL! For almost $20 bucks daily from 800 1100 pm you are more than welcome to stay as long as you want until you are ready to leave. We had a group of 6 and when our tickets got scanned we were introduced to a photographer who had a green screen in the background. Didn't get his name down but he was definitely nice and funny! He told us to pretend that we were climbing a mountain and told us to point at Bigfoot with the green screen in the background. He then gave us a card and when we reached the 73rd floor the pictures were available to look at. We were then guided to the elevator which can fit plenty of people and we were on the way to the 73rd floor! The elevator was great too. They are TV screens in the elevator that gave us information on the building itself and some of the largest mountains ever. When we got out of the elevator, you can see the view of Seattle right away. You were able to walk around the whole area and they also had a cute little café as well! I ordered a beer and a couple of my friends ordered some wine. A view and alcohol? What can get better than that. They also offered food as well. This place had a lounging area so from shareable foods, sandwiches, coffee, and dessert this is a place where you can relax, talk, and have fun with your loved ones or even talk business. As I mentioned earlier, it was not busy at all. I was expecting so many tourists but I felt like there were more locals than tourists in the building itself. The locals and the employees of the building were so nice and welcoming as well. They told us to enjoy our stay and definitely enjoy the view because when we went the weather was clear and sunny! We literally saw the whole view of Seattle. From the mountains and to the pier the view was just breathtaking. Would I recommend this place to anyone? YES I would. Put this on your bucket list the next time you go to Seattle if you love breathtaking views. This place does get a 5/5 from me and I would love to come back to see the nightlife of the city from afar ! read more

Truth: my review is based solely on an event I was a part of at this venue a week ago. The Big Climb. It's a feat all by itself with each participant scaling 69 flights of stairs to the 72nd floor in support of the Leukemia & Lymphoma society. How they have seamlessly orchestrated this fundraiser for over 25 years is what truly blows my mind. For an entire day, they filter through 6,000 participants + cheering loved ones! The logistics must be massive, and they do it in a way where each person feels affirmed. I have heard my friends rave about this event for years, and I finally had my chance to register. From the ground floor up I was celebrated with snacks and fanfare. I was climbing those stairs for my mom and everyone else I know with cancer, and the staff and volunteers did well to express gratitude. I didn't know my legs could do what they did, and reaching the last floor for that spectacular view of the city was worth every step! Well done, Columbia Center. Your structure and the people in it made this girl feel a part of something really special. The way you honored those living with cancer and those who have lost their fight inspires me to keep climbing for a cure. read more

Best view of Seattle! Columbia Center was completed in 1985. A beautiful building in it's architecture that until my most recent visit to the Emerald City, never really paid any attention to. Perhaps it's because my head was always on a constant swivel..surveilling ground level for all things Seattle instead of looking almost a 1000 feet into the sky. Maybe it was the GF who suggested visiting the observation deck on the 73rd floor or maybe it was the oracle that is yelp....I can't remember what exactly sparked the inspiration for a visit. Whatever the case....I am happy that we did. For almost $15...daily...from 0800 to 2300 hours, you are offered an opportunity to check out a 360 degree view of one of the most interesting and beautiful cities in America. I would imagine that on clear day the surrounding mountains only enhance this metropolises by the Sound. I have been on the Needle but it does not compare to the view from the altitude of the Columbia Center. Relax and enjoy a cup of beer or a cup of wine from the snack bar. Sadly...my meager words do not due this review justice. It is one that you will have to experience for yourself. I will absolutely visit again, and again, and again. read more

Beautiful tower. I remember coming here as a child back when it was the BOAT (Bank of America Tower), and it's part of inspired me to get into the banking industry. With its striking design and imposing mass, as a young man, I thought, "wow, this industry knows how to make its mark." Anyway, enough of what led me to become a soulless banking officer for the very company this tower was once named for. ;) The tower itself is very clean and updated. The retail shopping space in the lower mezzanine levels offers a unique was to shop in what feels like a small mall, in the middle of the downtown hustle and bustle. The observation deck (73rd floor) offers an impressive, near 360-degree view of the city, right from the middle of it. The Space Needle has its own awesome views north of the city, but this place is great to be able to look down and see the towers below it and the happenings of downtown Seattle. Definitely well worth the visit. The Starbucks on the 40th floor is a great place to chat and get coffee, while being 40 floors off the city streets. Makes for a great setting, with great views unto itself. All in all... this place is just how I remembered it as a kid. Impressive, striking, and well worth the time to check it out. read more

Its good to chat it up with locals when your visiting a new city. We had mentioned to our concierge that we had planned to make it up to the famous Space Needle to get a good look at the city. He promptly explained that the Space Needle isn't really that tall since the viewing deck is only about half way up, and the better choice would be the Columbia building... Well, they were right. It was $14.25 a person, not cheep but well worth it. From the 70th something floor you get amazing views from well above the city skyline. You could see everything. Luckily it was a clear day and we were able to see off into the surrounding Mountains that were miles away. A lot of good info to read and learn about what you are looking at and which mountain is which. Good for you if you have time for both, but I would recommend checking out the Columbia tower over the Space Needle. Such a cool experience. read more

HANDS DOWN THE BEST VIEW IN THE CITY! 360 degree view of Seattle with crystal-clear windows to view some of the amazing mountains in the distance as well as the city just in front of you. Plenty of info on the walls that talk about what you're seeing... HIGHLY recommend coming here. It's one of the things every tourist should see and yet somehow they never seem to know about it. Even many locals haven't gone there but always say they should check it out. I've been there over ten times now (bringing various people there) and there is a cute cafe there as well. If you want fewer crowds and great city views that include the Space Needle, come here. It's cheaper than the Needle and you're also about 200 feet higher. You get great unobstructed views of the north and south of the city. However, the observation deck is surrounded with glass windows, so you may get a reflection/glare in your pictures. Put your camera up against the glass for better pictures. They close at 8PM and kick you out so depending on the time of year you may be able to get sunset views.
