I attended this church for several months and recently decided to step back. The congregation is…read morefriendly, and the atmosphere is generally welcoming. Pastor Anderson is great! His sermons promote inclusivity with a level of biblical sophistication and articulation that can be applied to the modern world we live in. He and the rest of the pastors are kind and demonstrate so much class. However , I noticed a recurring issue that affected my worship experience. Toward the end of service--particularly during the benediction prayer--there is often a noticeable lack of decorum. Many congregants rush to leave early in an attempt to beat parking lot traffic, which is sometimes unavoidable regardless. This creates a distracting and irreverent environment during what should be one of the most sacred moments of the service. On one occasion, someone even bumped into me during prayer without saying excuse me while I still had my eyes closed. That moment made me feel that the reverence due to God and the closing prayer was not being honored. As someone who values old-school worship etiquette and the sanctity of the Word, this culture of rushing out during prayer was deeply disappointing. I believe the church could benefit from encouraging congregants to remain still until the benediction is fully concluded. If someone doesn't leave beforehand, they should respectfully wait until service is truly over. I hope to see the culture evolve so that the beauty and sacredness of worship can be fully preserved. I may return at some point but I'm found another church to go to for now.

I love this church,…read more I have been going for a while now and I witness the church community is very friendly and everyone is like family. Everyone is willing to help each other grow whether it is spiritually, professionally, of family wise. The services are based on the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and everything is done based and backed up by the scriptures of the Bible. The leadership is fantastic and make sacrifices in prayer and counseling. The leaders are always able to make themselves available in need no matter how busy their schedule is; and really showcase the love of God. The sermons are applicable to everyday life and the worship sessions are fantastic. I would recommend for anyone in the DMV area to join and be apart of it.

But she's had brought so much trouble in our peaceful family, that I'm so ashamed of. The other members of the church called the police on my mum and older sister. She moved out to live with them and things have never been the same. She would never send us any pictures of her graduation ceremony because of whatever the church said about her family. She has never set eyes on our mum since then, she refuses to see any family member. They control her life, and who she talks to. They are so brainwashed. If there was a word worse than brainwashed I'll insert it here. She is a total failure, her grades in school went downhill, and that's because she spends 5 hours or more(no exaggeration) each day praying, and on weekends all day in church. It should be wise now that she left home. She has not been able to buy a car which is a necessity here because she gives a percentage of her paycheck to the church and was even trying to convince me to do that. She is suffering but she can't see it cuz they are blinded. I can write pages of ugly experiences and disappointment from my sister, it's sad. She lies a lot. I don't know what God they serve, well they serve their pastor and wife.

St John Baptist Church is a friendly church located in Columbia. I recently visited their morning…read moreservice and was very impressed. The music and sermons were all very well done, and the interior of the church is very bright and inviting. They are also great with time management. The service went as follows, Song (everyone), responsive reading, announcements, song (choir), welcoming visitors, offertory prayer, offering, song (choir), announcements, sermon, invitation to discipleship, song (choir), alter call, song (choir). Some how, they were able to fit all of this into 8:00am to 9:00am! Plus, they actually started at 8:05 to allow for stragglers. The Church performs its offerings by passing baskets through the pews while the choir sings. They handout tithe envelopes at the entrance with the programs, and encourage those that are donating change or who don't have anything to donate, to just use the envelope so no one will feel uncomfortable. The only small issue I had with the service was the welcoming of visitors. They did a friendly welcoming, which is nice, but after they ask you to stand up, they then ask everyone around you to stand up and "greet you warmly," which can be a bit much for people that like to keep to themselves. Overall, its a great church, and I look forward to returning.

If you ever hope to confirm your own autism or feel like a legitimate, Bible Scholar; go and…read moreworship the Lord and learn God's Word; at an exceedingly accurate, Bible Centric, no nonsense church called Calvary Chapel in Ellicott City. Out from behind the Lectern, The Pastor is painfully awkward and quiet. But all in on the Lord's Word, all the time. I find him distant and strange but solid like a Rock. Talking directly to the little people? Kind of like his Limp. And I think he would own that. Most people, just call him Dan. Distant Dan. I abhor the term but this surprisingly, un credentialed Rabbi, is "anointed". Like only a very, few teaching pastors of today. He preached this himself; not about himself. His list of remaining heavies, is not long. And they are all Old as dirt. So, the church, sorely needs communicators like Dan Sexton. And of course, he is on the Radio. I helped pay for that. No Complaints. They should pay Him! LD, I struggled in school my entire life. But Dan Sexton, was by far, the best teacher I ever had. Intoxicating at times. It is an absolute joy to follow his lectures and never, really fall behind. But! Pin your ears back and bring a good reference bible. Shhhh!! However, I would contend, one of the great teaching Bible Colleges of America could use his services; way more than Eight hundred, privileged, highly attractive Colombians need him. Add in the hundreds of Radio Psincophants, who travel long distances to experience his teaching; but never grovel at his feet. He would not stand for it. And I was one of those super handsome, devoted students who made the journey, twice a week; before quietly departing- Mostly out of utter disillusionment; in said, Community. One person I really liked, and thought I connected well with; texts me a year later. "Hey, Brother; haven't seen you in church, lately." LOL! But seriously; if you have a Family or just want to hear about the Bible, in a one of a kind way; by all means, go! They have a school, now, too. The whole place is a Solid! And mid week service? They feed you! The music is as inspired and excellent as any other place, that large. Thank God! No, worship leaders, in skinny Jeans. And a great space to worship, in comfort. Though, even that seems to become mildly awkward and political, sometimes. Like Disco for Born Again, Christians. Love the Lord out Loud! Yeah, we do that. Oh yeah! Very little inside or outside Politics. Moderately Conservative, well above average, educated professionals. The kind of place, where the fancy 4 Star, guided trips to Israel, fill up within hours. The Pastor is definitely tops, there. And A new guy with Christian Wild Eyes; 2nd in command. Dave; in children's leadership. He quit the Army, when Biden took office. Too much FOX? No. Lol! But we have more than a few of those, too. Yes! A great meet and greet church, made up of Extroverts; but in my experience; smiling zeros. Perhaps, that is, my Limp, talking. But three years in? Autism? Felt more like leprosy. So, I smiled back, ate my free food and went to school, in the next room. An entire lifetime, more or less, of debilitating depression and self imposed, sheltering in place. Mental illness. Thursday night Church, at CCEC was my Saturday night out! Entire Sundays invested; like those all day football worshipers, which are the norm, today. They seemed to treat me distant and weird for hanging around there, so much. I was lonely. Was made to feel like an idiot; trying to lie and grunt for the millionth time. "Hey Brother? What, do, YOU, do for a living?" I'm an unemployed overeducated handyman. CALL ME! Jerk. Like the Mall. But not Saturday. So Go! Lend a face to the Radio Guy. "A Family." As many, actually, do remain.

The congregation is kind and welcoming. The teachings are approachable and biblically sound. Come and see.
