I initially consulted with Blake and walked away feeling heard, understood, and confident that my case would be handled with care. Unfortunately, my experience after paying the retainer was completely different. I felt that billing and replenishing my retainer became a greater priority than actually moving my case toward resolution. I repeatedly sent the same information, documents, and exhibits, only to be asked questions I had already answered--and then billed for the additional emails and time spent going over the same information again. What was especially upsetting was having to repeatedly explain traumatic events and provide supporting documentation, including police reports and medical records, only to later speak with counsel and feel as though important details of my case were not understood or incorporated into the strategy. Reliving traumatic experiences is difficult enough; being billed for repeatedly explaining them while feeling that the information was not meaningfully used made the experience even worse. Communication was another major problem. There were times I waited 7+ days for responses to important questions, while billing continued. I also experienced situations where I felt important information related to my case was not adequately addressed while I was being asked to replenish my retainer. A client should not have to continually chase their attorney for answers, resend the same documentation, or repeatedly explain the basic facts of their case while paying substantial legal fees. I hired this firm because I needed knowledgeable legal representation during an extremely difficult period of my life. Instead, I often felt like I was fighting the case myself while simultaneously paying thousands of dollars in legal fees. The difference between the compassion and confidence I felt during my initial consultation and the representation I experienced afterward was significant. Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend this firm. If you are considering hiring them, I strongly encourage you to carefully review their billing practices, ask exactly who will be handling your case, how responsive that attorney will be, and how your retainer will be used before signing anything.

The last lawyer I went to charged an obscene amount of money to set up a trust when all we really needed was a VERY SIMPLE WILL!!! She didn't tell hubby and I about trusts, didn't tell us what it meant or how to use it... she didn't tell us anything. She just took our money, drew up a trust and said that's it. Neither my husband nor I remember anything being notarized or anything - just a, "We'll take care of that part later." Curtis had a couple folks come in as witnesses, had us show IDs and the whole nine yards. The best part was the INFORMATION! He gave us lots of useful information and never made us feel rushed. He was so helpful I would give him five stars for that. The fact that his price was so reasonable makes me want to award more stars!!! I was able to apply what I learned and use that knowledge in my case. I was able to take what I learned and apply it by myself. If needing an attorney you're better off with another law firm or representing yourself. This was more of a waste of time and money than anything else. Don't be afraid to pursue what you want in the courts even if it sounds beyond reach. I was able to represent myself after time and get what I wanted. Took guts and a lot of determination to say I can do it better and on my own.
