I don't usually like posting a review about the food or service unless it's really disappointing. Yes, this restaurant is the one. This place is closed to my work, and I always wanted to check it out until today. I came in, no server was there so I picked a table to sit down. A server came to take my order. I order "mien mang ga" because I was craving for it. He left and I noticed there are small and large size which I never told him which one I wanted. I assumed he would be back to ask me but nope. He brought the food out not even 5 mins later with a big size for me. The broth tasted like water with msg. I kept adding ginger fish sauce to bring the flavor back. The bamboo still has the chewy part which was supposed to throw away.. It was so sad to eating something that I know I could cook it better :( maybe other food is better I don't know but I don't want to disappointed again. Sorry!!! read more

This review is based mostly on service rather than the food itself. Came out here with my family around 3:30 pm. First ordered drinks. Avacado shake, out. Durian shake, out. Coffee, out. Tapioca, out. Ok, tell me what you do have instead as to save us both time. We ended up ordering the artichoke drink, green thai tea, and a regular thai tea. The wife wanted to eat the bamboo duck noodle soup. Out. Surprise surprise. The excuse was that they are very busy on Sunday and ran out of most of the stuff we requested. As we looked around, there were only 4 other tables that were occupied at best. I can understand that you just opened, but you seriously need better inventory control. The wife and daughter ordered the mien ga soups while my son ordered the pho ga. The food came out quickly enough...perhaps too quick as the broth was semi warm at best. While they were eating, we were constantly pestered by the servers reaching over us to grab the condiments bottle to refill. Like seriously? People are eating and you have plenty of empty tables you can be refilling instead. Who want strangers all over their table while they are eating? And for the grand finale of insults to injuries, they totally forgot about the 3 drinks we ordered as well after they repeated the order back to us. Everything had a great taste, and the food came out really fast. Almost too fast, because the food was a bit on the cold side. This of course is their soft opening this week so they are getting the kinks out. They also gave me some of their Chicken Pho, the stock was bursting with flavor, you can tell that it was home made stock by the flavor it gave, I will definately try the Pho next time. I came here on their grand opening day to support someone who I'm told has a partnership in the restaurant. It's a far ways out from the main Vietnamese community on Bellaire and pretty close to George Bush International but regardless of it's location here it goes. I probably won't be back again for the following reasons based on my experience. I've thought about this review for a long time but i have to give what my heart thinks rather than a fake review just because I know someone here. Pretty big place and the crowd that was there that day probably was a majority of family, friends and folks who were curious from the FB posts. the food is comparable to Com Ga Houston on Bellaire (I'm told it's the same owner but I don't want to comment on it because I'm not sure) and served the same way. We ordered the chicken rice, chicken pho, a side order of chicken with banana blossom salad and milk tea. The order took some time and we were fine with it as we understand that grand openings they're just getting their act together. The milk tea came , the pho came and the rice dish came and the waiter left in a flash. I thought he may have not finished but we sat for some time as I didn't have any utensils to eat with. I raised my hand to flag some one down a few times and after a while it got ridiculous so I walked to the counter but no one was there and I had to ask a server for the utensils and she pointed me to the back to grab it myself. Fine, I wasn't going to make a big deal out of that and sat down and ate. We were pretty close to finishing our meal when my wife flagged down our waiter and asked him if he can check up on the chicken salad and he responded that they are really busy and should be making it soon. Probably another 10 mins had past by and reminded him again and he checked his ipad and said you didn't order any salad i'll add it to the order now and he went off to the kitchen and left. We had finished our meal at this point and I'm finding something new on the table to chomp down and we flagged another waiter down and asked him what is going on. He also said we don't have an order and he had a chat with our waiter and we were assured that the order was in place. i was losing patience now and this has become more of a social experiment for my wife now. another 10 minutes went by and we flagged down what seemed to be a senior staff and he said he would have it looked into. same thing, he went off and nothing, my wife was furious at this point and we flagged the original waiter down and he said your order is waiting for your at the cashier. I wanted to kick this guy's ass, why would you put it up there? Did you expect me to know and pick it up at the counter? My wife asked what's wrong with you? We ordered many times and you made numerous promises and yet not an apology to what is going on. We've been sitting at the table after our meal has been finished and the appetizer hasn't even arrived. One of the senior members came by as there was a commotion now and he apologized to get the order out right away. after a few minutes the order came out. This was not the last of it I tell you. These guys need to get this act together, I'm not Gordon Ramsey and if he was here he would have a field day. After all that I went to pay for my bill at the cashier and the guys have a very passive approach to business management, it's not about sitting back and waiting for someone to pay you, you got to put some work into it. He didn't know how to check me out and was clueless on how to use the register. This took a few minutes of instructions from the wait staff before we got going. Never, never again is all I can say. I really want to like this place... Service is super fast and friendly. Prices aren't bad and food isn't either. Everything is chicken or duck and limited menu which gives them the quick factor. I liked that I could order my Pho with the choice of white or dark meat. I've ordered twice, the artichoke drink which pleasant came with some basil seed and black jelly-all things which I love) I give it 3 stars for now because we've come for lunch twice in their opening week and see some problems that we hope are resolved. 1. Had their rice congee which was decent. Strange thing is that they "ran out of" the chinese doughnut sticks (chau quay) that are basically a staple when eating congee. 2. The menu highlights different shakes available for purchase, but when we ordered the first time we came, they didn't have any available. We return a couple of days later (still during their opening week) they still didn't have this to offer, yet it's on the menu. I'm hoping that these discrepancies are "growing pains" and not an indicator that the menu is fluffed to make it look like it offers more than it does. You can take it like a feedback or keep your negative thought to yourself, if you don't have anything nice to say. ** I drove 30minutes across town today as a second time, just to check out what's the hype about from this new restaurant(Com Ga Thuong Hai located on Antonio and Beltway 8). It was a such an disappointment. First time I came on Sunday noon, waited for almost 40mintues at my table and got informed by the owner that all the orders are back up. The restaurant was packed with hangry customers, so I decided to leave and come back Monday to avoid the weekend crowd. Ordered: #5 Com ga goi bap chuoi, bap cai, #9 Hu Tieu Ga Kho and Pho Ga Kho. I wasn't happy how they charged difference prices for hu tieu ga kho and pho ga kho when they use identical ingredients and sauce for both dried noodles. Their pho ga kho soup broth was overdo with five spice flavor. You can take a small sip and all you can really taste was the strong five spice. Their #5 com ga rice didnt meet their store name. The rice didnt even have any chicken aroma at all. Tasted like normal white rice with slighty diluted chicken broth cooked. Maybe they was rushing on cooking the rice without adding enough chicken broth on a slow Monday? . Their side preserved vegetable(rice plate), taste like a quick dip in the sweet and sour sauce without letting it marinate properly. I ordered everything in large size, but the portion came out like a small/medium size from other Viet restaurants. Beside charge two different dried noodles with two different prices using identical ingredients. The chicken had a decent softness texture for taste and moist. The service was attentive and quick om a weekday. I would recommend them to add more chicken flavor to their rice for a better aroma smell and taste, improve their pho ga kho broth with a less five spice while add more pho flavor, preserve their side orde vegetable(rice plate) longer marinate for some taste,also give the right amount of food portion like a true large portion from other Viet restaurants and do something different between their hu tieu ga kho and pho ga kho, if they're wanna charge customer with different prices...Maybe I will swing back one day as a second try when I'm in that side of town. Just recently moved from CA. This place just opened and it is close to home. We decided to give it a try. The chicken is tender and rice is perfectly flavored. New place just opened so hopefully it gets better over time. They were out of many of the drinks so we ordered what the waiter said they had available. Too bad we didn't get to try since our drinks never came out, even when we finished our food. Cashier was happily to take it of our bill. But boy was she upset with her staff, she yelled to them across the restaurant in front of me. Okay now that is out of the way we can talk about the food. It was decent I guess. We ordered two different items. And yes there was a difference in the broth, since the main item they sell is chicken so the broth would not be as flavorful as beef or pork. So to me it was okay not nothing to wow about. I really wanted to try bun mang vit(duck bamboo soup) but was told they were all out for the day. They give you nouc mam gung (ginger sauce) with your food, it was good but I really didn't need it with my meal. My son didn't appreciate it since they smell bothered him. As for service they have some work to do. Like in the beginning there was no communication with each other since our drinks were never made. There was an employee who was refilling the condiments which is a good thing but it was a bit rude when he reached over me while I was eating to grab the sriracha to refill. Could have said excuse me before he did. But oh well... That's all I can say about this place. Hope they get these kinks resolved so they can get better review in the future. This place specializes in duck and chicken soups rice plates and congees. I had the chicken congee with The cabbage and banana flower salad. The congee was tasty, obviously made with chicken broth, and on the thin side, which is good because it's a huge bowl. The salad comes with large strips of chicken and a bowl of ginger dipping sauce for the meat. although the dressing on the salad is good enough as it is. That said You're missing a flavor explosion if you don't try the dipping sauce. Also, the chicken is steamed and has a very yellow skin; probably some of the most chicken tasting chicken you will eat.Everything was very fresh and the flavors were really well balanced; everything I like about Vietnamese food. Even for the uninitiated, I think the flavors here are very accessible, even though the flavors are to me spot on accurate for Vietnamese food.Definitely give this place a try. read more

Warning, do not eat at this restaurant. The food quality is bad, waitstaff had bad attitude, and they charged the food whatever price they want. I recently dined at this place and will never come back. I was shocked to find out they charged the food more than the price on the menu. They put a small note on the inside of the menu price will be increased, but doesn't say how much. I asked the waitress why they didn't put the increased price on the menu. She rudely told me I'll find out the increase price after they ring up in the register, then walked away without giving me a chance to ask more questions. Their business practice is a sham and dishonest. They should put the new prices, actual numbers, on the menu so people can see before ordering the food. I am a Vietnamese and trying to support my native people but will not continue to support this shameful establishment. read more

But when I order cơm gà thịt nâu ( brown chicken meat), they always said they have a little brown chicken meat, eat haft brown chicken & haft white chicken but they charge the brown chicken price. And on last Thursday (10/07/2021), I went back to eat with my friend, they still said just a little brown chicken meat enough for 2 dishes brown chicken meat, we ordered, then they bring 2 dishes rices chicken brown meat, I saw they put haft brown & haft white chicken meat. I go to paid, the price for brown chicken meat is $10.99x2 ( dishes) = $ 21.98, but they charge $25.99 for 2 dishes plus tax = $ 28.13.
