Not so taxing! The Comal County Tax Office is doing a great job! Their tax assessor, Kristen H Hoyt is really making it easy to receive, understand, and pay your taxes. They make it easy, and you can even get your boat registration at their tax offices in downtown New Braunfels. Unfortunately, taxes are a part of life, you gotta pay them, but at least the Comal County Tax Office makes it easy and convenient. The staff has always been helpful, polite and fast. I wish all government offices worked as well as the Comal County Tax Office does. Everything from property taxes, auto taxes, personal property taxes, they do it all and make it look easy. read more

I can't say enough great things about this staff. Every time I go in I prepare myself for a wait, but no. Telma processed all 4 of my vehicles registrations in no time. We are very lucky to have such a well run office in our county and especially have a star like Telma leading the charge. Thank you! read more

Been to this location many times. Over the past year they have always been out of their vinaigrette. Doesn't matter the time of day I go. Also, every time I order chips and guacamole, half the bag of chips are stale and chewy. Would recommend going to the location in Tanger outlets read more

3 stars because they're nice and somewhat speedy (it was 15min before they closed). But it is a government office. Enough said. I never received my car registration in the mail and it was untrackable online. From what I could gather from the lack of information on the website in this scenario is to show up with your vehicles vinn#, license plate # and some form of government ID. So, on my birthday week (which everyone looks forward to doing around their bday), I got off work early to run over before they closed since they don't open early and close early. I waited in line to find out that those forms can not be printed more than once. The best thing to do is to get my inspection, bring that proof by (on another day, again having to leave work early again) and they can get me my sticker. :sigh: I wanted to scream but the clerk was so nice and it's not her fault the government sucks and doesn't care about wasting people's time and could provide that info online. read more

I had a wonderful experience at the Comal County Tax Office! Appointment process was super easy online and lots of availability the day of. I spoke with someone on the phone and they told me everything I needed to bring without being on hold or having to press any extra buttons to talk to a rep. When I arrived I knew exactly where to go with all the signage. I was helped immediately and left within 15 minutes of walking in. The staff was super nice and got their tasks done quick! If I could I would give this office and the appraisal office 0 stars. I understand it's really the appraisal office is the problem. Our property has quadrupled in tax value and taxes in less than 2 years. We have lived in Mitchell, Bastrop, Denton, and Bell County. Comal has been the most gouging and least desirable county to live in. Unfortunately we are on a fixed income and they just don't care if you're older, retired, and on a fixed income. read more

I went to pick up my new plates and the lady asked if I had been notified, and I told her I was given that day to get them but had not received the text yet. She pretended to go look and said they were not there. We drove two streets away and I got the text they were there. How hard was it to just look? read more

I was really nervous when I knew I needed to go get new handicap license plates because I had seen the 'Covid' lines outside the building which does not look fun in the summer heat. However someone came out to talk to people in line to make sure they were prepared and ready to make the process smoother. And a huge shout-out to Ali! I went in a few minutes after they opened and was helped immediately. I gave all necessary paperwork for a new registration sticker, paid the fee and walked out in less than 10 minutes. So I wasn't able to renew my registration sticker on line because it had gone pass the date, working overseas. Went to Comal county tax office and I must have gotten the most obnoxious individual. He couldn't phonetically pronounce my last name. He was loud and laughed at his own insulting attempt to humor himself and his cohorts. Since my sticker was pass due, it should be 03/21, but it became 01/21. Even after getting charged over $77 dollars and percentage fee? Really??? Welcome to Comal county. I just moved here and it's been undesirable. Over charged sticker and my $5,000 trailer stolen. Not nice people!!! Can you step on my neck one more time?. read more

Wow! I expected efficient service but not the level of professionalism, friendliness and efficiency I saw here. Anita(?) welcomed every person that walked in the door with a friendliness that would rival any resort. Others did as well, I just happened to catch her name. I did not have the renewal form so I had a brief but very pleasant wait. The place was busy but they gave instructions as people walked in. Not in a "herding" manner but in a way that conveyed "let me help you get taken care of quickly". I don't need to drop in often but I will not feel the need to avoid it when the need arises. read more

Bulverde Satellite Office : Everything you'd heard about government employees starts here. Rude, plain rude. Comal County hired people that wouldn't last through the first two days of customer service training in the real world, and told them to show up and work here. My friends drive to New Braunfels JUST to avoid these witches. Aside from terrible interpersonal skills, they seem to have limited knowledge of tax laws as well. Thank you Comal County for keeping obnoxious people employed and lessening the burden on social services. It's a win win when most folks just avoid this office altogether. Don't think calling and complaining to the New Braunfels office will do you any good, because I know plenty of people have. Next year when you go to register a vehicle, these employees will be staring at you again.... no better than they were the year before. It's called job security. read more

Very poor customer service and a lack of continuing education . They are unaware of the laws concerning the transfer of vehicles and trailers . They get highly offended if you point out an item in the traffic code and or civil statues that counters their whole hearted incorrect opinion . read more

I mailed out my payment to renew my tags on my truck last month and the check already cleared. Called the tax office and they said they mailed it a few days after they received payment. Well I never got it. Now I have to pay $7 to get a replacement tag. I have to pay for something I never got!!! They told me to blame the state of Texas. I seriously don't think is fair considering I already paid $70 to renew my registration and have to pay an additional $7 for another sticker when I never received the first one.
