This Starbucks is inside Dresden's main train station.....the Hauptbahnhof ( Dresden has 2 stations…read more) What makes this location stand out among the other SBux locations I've visited, is due to their WIDE selection of Germany mugs I'm a nerdy Starbucks mug collector & like to get Starbucks Commemorative mugs from the countries I've seen - it makes for a wonderful remembrance of my adventures, while I'm sipping my morning coffee back home This SBux not only had Germany but there were TWO designs from which to choose! There was a standard brown and a yellow! I took the yellow since not all countries come in anything but brown & I like some color diversity. The yellow was a particularly awesome color since it reminds me of the multitude of yellow rapeseed fields which are growing all throughout Germany this time of year I also saw mugs from Dresden, Berlin, Munich, & a few other cities - so if you're having retail regret from missing out on your city mug, you can still achieve vacation-bliss by finding your treasure here!

I was expecting a specialty bakery to have a higher quality product. It was also somewhat hard to flag down the waitress because she did not come out for a while after first receiving my items. When she finally came out, almost everyone sitting outside needed attention. It was still enjoyable, nevertheless, and I would go back when I would like an inexpensive treat out in the cafe.

The space is tiny but really cozy and inviting and big enough to enjoy a great cup of coffee and a good book or a chat with the friendly and super knowledgable owner. During the hour I was there, at least half a dozen customers came in looking for gifts or coffee for themselves, and each of them walked out happy and more knowledgable. Definitely recommend! Meaning, the restaurant and its entrance are outside, facing towards the tram tracks. On the side of the building parallel to the big road, NOT the slanted side that faces toward REWE and the clothing stores. DO NOT try going into the building, it's not where the Asian grocery store, food court, or restaurants are. This was SUPER convenient when it came to quickly getting food to take with us onto the train. They even had this special plastic bag that holds your drink upright and separate from your sandwich! XD Really perfect for traveling. Drinks were on the sweeter side, so I would recommend either asking to make it a little less sweet or just not getting a topping to go with it. But this is coming from an American Bay Area ABC. I also appreciate that they seem to have a bit of everything, which helps when you're with someone with some dietary restrictions. Banh Mi Meli is run by this older couple, and they were VERY accommodating. The café has seating inside, and we were able to rest there comfortably (out of the heat) with our luggage. There were a few people coming in and out, some families, but it was otherwise a peaceful place to set up in. They also had their own Wi-Fi, and the older man knew enough English that there really wasn't a problem ordering or answering menu questions. The drink and snack menus had little English translations accompanying each listing, but I didn't see that for the banh mi menus. We had to resort to translating through our phones, and I really appreciate the assortment they had. I'm impressed that they had so many fish and vegetarian options on top of the usual! XD I'm really glad I got around to trying banh mi in Germany. Not completely what I'm used to and pricier, but having a banh mi with German bread was very tasty. I think a big reason why the banh mi lasted so long for so well is because their bread is just that good! XD I also just appreciate the sheer variety of banh mi. If I go back, I'm interested in trying their bergamot milk tea, which I don't see much of. I would definitely come back here if I'm ever coming in or leaving Dresden Hauptbahnhof (central station).
