If you are planning a vacation to Yosemite, this is the place to stay! This hotel is in Oakhurst, 30 minutes away from Yosemite's entrance. My best friend booked 1 night, 2 beds here for $86 on Hotels.com, a steal in comparison to the hotels inside of Yosemite National Park. In addition, it is not as far as the other hotels we looked at that were a similar price (some were 1-2 hours away from Yosemite!) The hotel staff was friendly & helpful! We received our breakfast tickets, wifi code, & there was plenty of parking available. Our room was clean & it came with a desk, TV, refrigerator, & microwave. Our beds were huge & incredibly comfy, the comforter kept me warm all night, & it comes with 4 pillows: 2 soft & 2 firm for whichever you prefer (I thought that was so neat because pillows can make or break a person's stay & the firm pillows definitely made my stay!) The breakfast was great, especially for a free breakfast because they had hot foods available too (usually places just give you cereal & pastries)! There were scrambled eggs, sausages, 2 waffles makers, several types of cereal, bread, drinks - juices, coffee, water, tea, hot cocoa. There were staff constantly checking to ensure there was enough food. Unfortunately, the dining room is small & since this is a popular hotel, it was busy. There is patio seating available & they provided trays so that you can take your food to your room if everything was taken. Check-in: 3p (we tried to come earlier but no rooms were available but you can always give them a call to see beforehand) Check-out: 11a

BED BUGS! Never have I ever experienced bed bugs whether it be hotel, motel, or inn. Stayed here 2 nights. First night stayed in room 131 had 2 queen beds, the one by the bathroom had bed bugs in it. Which I caught and killed 3. I slept on top of the comforter and I slept like crap, I was still getting bitten. Should've just went and got another room right away. Next morning I requested another room and they moved me to a suite. My friend had a strange bug in his bed that was not a bed bug but nonetheless a bug was in his sheets.

The staff here are very friendly and informative. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast for staying guests. There was a massive variety of breakfast options. Well organized and cleanliness was maintained throughout our experience. Jimmy was cleaning the dining area and he greeted us and asked if he can clean a section to accommodate our large group. He was very nice. There was a very sweet lady working in the kitchen area. I didn't grab her name but she was hospitable and genuinely nice. She took our last name before eating and let us know what yummy food options were available. We will definitely be coming back.

The staff was very friendly and willing to talk about restaurants and the best way to get to Yosemite and other questions that we had. The whole property was well kept and felt very safe easy driving directions to get to our hotel room. We were blessed with a hotel first floor had a great patio out, looking into a wooded area. Parking was very easy we park just a few spots away from our hotel room. They EV charging stations for vehicles and other things plenty of handicap parking all throughout the facility and also a restaurant right in the middle of this place so you don't have to go very far to get good food Speaking of good food, their breakfast buffet by far put it over the top because a lot of times you go to hotels and you get maybe a continental breakfast just a few items and you're not really interested in those items but this breakfast buffet was overwhelming because it was so amazing and on this trip we finally got to eat a good meal at a hotel They had pancake sausage, eggs, different kinds of bacon, like four or five different juices, six or seven different coffees, bagels plenty of people behind the counter to serve you fresh fruit, all kind of stuff and it was well laid out. A very relaxing environment that you can walk in get your breakfast sit down and really enjoy your time there and go back for seconds and know it was gonna be hot and fresh every time so I truly recommend this place because of how relaxing it was how easy it was to get in and out of and the food quality for breakfast was amazing. The only thing that was a little bit still out of date, but still look good was the rooms they are older style rooms not updated like a lot of other places are, but it was an amazing stay great facilities and we will stay here every time we go to Yosemite

We had to end our trip early because of a family emergency. At approximately 1:00 PM on July 23,…read more2026, we left our room, returned the room key to the front desk, and asked for written confirmation that we had left the hotel early. The night before, I had already contacted Trip.com, the booking platform I used, and was informed that our prepaid reservation was nonrefundable. I understood and accepted that. To be absolutely clear, at no point during my interaction with the front desk did I ask for a refund or compensation. My only request was written confirmation that we had returned the room key and left the hotel. The front desk clerk insisted that she could not check us out because our reservation remained active until the following day. I told her that I understood. However, because we were leaving the hotel and returning the room key, I asked only for written confirmation that the key had been returned and that we were no longer occupying the room. I explained that this was for security and record-keeping purposes. Since the reservation would remain active overnight even though we had already left, I wanted clear documentation that we had returned the room key and were no longer occupying the room. If any safety issue, unauthorized or illegal activity, or other incident occurred in the room after our departure, there would be a record showing that we had already surrendered the key and left the property. Unfortunately, the clerk repeatedly interrupted me and continued talking about the hotel's no-refund policy, even after I clearly explained several times that I was not asking for any money. In a condescending manner, she told me twice, "I don't think you understand what I mean." In fact, she was the one who continued to disregard and misunderstand what I was actually requesting. I am Asian, and my partner has a lighter complexion. Her behavior changed immediately and noticeably when he entered the lobby. He repeated the same request I had already explained--that we only needed written confirmation that the room key had been returned. Unlike her response to me, she spoke to him politely, was noticeably more accommodating, and then agreed to type a letter. Even in the letter she eventually provided, she continued to disregard our actual request. The letter did not confirm that we had returned the room key. It merely stated that we had "decided to check out by 1 PM" and then again emphasized that no refund was available--an issue I had never disputed and had already confirmed with Trip.com the night before. I have attached a redacted photo of the letter provided by the hotel. As shown, it does not confirm that the room key was returned. Instead, it focuses primarily on the no-refund policy. The letter therefore still failed to provide the simple confirmation I had requested. It appeared that the clerk was more focused on repeating her own position about refunds than listening to and addressing our actual concern. No guest dealing with a family emergency should have to endure such dismissive and condescending treatment over such a reasonable request. I hope hotel management reviews this incident and provides appropriate customer-service training. Based on this experience, I would not choose to stay at Yosemite Southgate Hotel again.

The town of Oakhurst is my favorite as it offers great amenities that are the closest to the best entrance to Yosemite in my opinion. Lets start with the food. This is one of the best culinary experiences I have had and it is consistently good. The three course or five course dining service is stellar. These chefs are some of the best in the world and Ive been all over the world. The leadership of Erica is not to be surpassed. She has an incredible calm spirit with a smiling happy crew that provides top notch service with warmth and class. The bartender Jordan is a delight with his great smile and kind eyes. The food experience made me feel like I was being nourished from the inside out not just with nutrition but with love and flavor that was new and revitalizing. This was my first stay at the Chateau Sureau. Oh my heart. I feel that I was healed and restored from a level of stress I dont think I realized I was carrying from our busy crazy noisy world at home. The property is exquisite with old world charm and the perfect patina of age that makes you feel you are in the old country of Paris or Austria or England. The landscape is stunning and it was raining so the fireplaces were roaring and the pines were glistening with silver drops backlit by an incredible sunset. The breakfast service is top notch and the staff is incredibly attentive. You know its good when you know each others names. Thanks to Lorenzo, Sienna, Logan, Jissel and Lori for incredible Chalet guest service. Then, there is the spa. I just had to go since I was feeling like my life was coming back to my ownership again. The Spa is gorgeous. The spa. director Way has been on this property for 20 years. I had the best facial and conversation with her. What a treasure she is. Kim was my massage therapist and she is one of the best I have ever had and my son at home is a therapist as well so I feel qualified to say so. I got to spend my time in the couples massage room which has stunning views, a balcony that looks out from the hot bubbling soaking tub that you get to use after your massage. I had a choice of oils to add and we went with elderberry which is incredible for soft skin. Its absolutely wonderful. The small scale in size lent itself to making connections with other guests that were fantastic and I made friends here while staying that will last! I will be back everytime I am in town. I was here on a rainy weeks end and it added to the magic. I can imagine what it is like in spring when the gorgeous grounds are covered in flowers blooming. I cant wait to see it again then or even next month for the holidays! Some may say there is some aging to the rooms but I say its perfect and if you have traveled to the Old Country in Europe this is part of the actual beauty and experience. Relish it!!
