Wow what a great meal! We went as a party of five. The staff was incredibly kind and accommodated us running late as well. Our server was so kind and gave us helpful advice on our order. We ended up ordering the Jerk Duck drumettes which were incredible -- super soft fall off the bone duck in a tangy sauce with some spice. Truly perfect and I think we all licked our plates clean. We also tried the fried okra which had little okra sticks set in a yogurt dip and was a really nice compliment to the drumettes. Last we got the Plantain chips which were so good -- definitely some of the best plantain chips I have had because they cut them so thin! And the dipping sauce was yummy also, would definitely start your meal with this. For mains, we shared the Suya Fennel, Goat Ragu, and Prawn Curry. I'm not sure I've ever eaten a fennel dish before but the Suya Fennel was so yummy with different textured vegetables in a creamy sauce. The prawn curry was also incredible with five fat prawns in a tangy coconut curry sauce with a side of fried roti/paratha perfect for cleaning up all the sauce. They also were easily able to accommodate a nut allergy and put the cashew cream on the side for us! The goat ragu was also yummy but came out like-warm (not sure if that's how it's supposed to come) and was overshadowed by the other mains a bit. For dessert we ended up trying all three -- the Cardamom Semifredo, Chocolate Raspberry Clafoutis, and Mango ice cream and love all of them! I think we all agreed our favorite was the Cardamom Semifredo because it's so unique -- the texture of the cake is almost like rasmalai and it comes with crunchy puffed rice which was a perfect balance. Definitely worth trying if you're open to trying something new! We also loved the mango ice cream with peanut brittle which is thicker than typical ice creams and also like a mango lassi ice cream. The chocolate clafoutis was super solid and similar to a lava cake, and perfect if you're looking for a chocolate fix, but not as unique as the other two. We visited around 8:30pm, 2 hours before close, & had no issues grabbing a table for 2! Service was top-notch & food was amazing. These are the dishes we ordered: -Aachar Beef -Fried Okra -Jerk Duck Drumettes -Fried Trout -Prawn Curry w/ Roti Everything we ordered was absolutely DELICIOUS! The Aachar Beef consists of 8 sliced grilled beef, laid over some green tomato aioli w/ some fingerling potatoes + pickled shallots. Had great flavor & every ingredient paired well w/ each other. I personally LOVE okra, so the fried okra was right up my alley! It came with garama masala yogurt, which was SO ADDICTIVE to eat. Now, if you're like us & ordered the Jerk Duck Drumettes as well, PLEASE try dipping the fried okra in both the jerk sauce AND the yogurt dip... it's such a lovely flavor bomb! They have definitely maximized the space in this tiny restaurant in Dorchester. Albeit the small space, the bright Scandinavian feel doesn't make it feel too cramped when you're seated. Also a great place to stop by for a quick coffee in the morning. It would be especially nice in the warmer weather with the addition of the outdoor seating. The service was so bad :( I was super excited to try this place out for dinner after stopping by for coffee and treats. I will say that the food was VERY good. We started off with the yucca fries and I loved the sauce it came with. For entree I got the jerk duck and it was so good! Everything was flavorful, fresh and delicious. Honestly it all made we want to try more on the menu. As for the service, I went for my birthday dinner and our server forgot about my friend and I multiple times, we didn't get menus, took away our water and they forgot to bring us out our drinks after a few reminders. This was our first time going to Comfort Kitchen and we had no idea what we were going to experience. We stepped in and were taken to the back patio for seating. They host and the staff were all great from the moment we walked in. No one felt rushed, and answered all our questions. When they didn't know something, they found someone who did. We started with the Aachar Grilled Beef and Yuca Fries. The Yuca fries came out first and were a plentiful amount. They had a great mix of salty, and crispy on the outside but nice and soft on the inside. The sauce was a perfect match. The Aachar Grilled beef had a great flavor palette. The beef was a really nice meaty flavor and the spicing added to it. The potatoes were a nice mix. We had a One in a Million and Moroccan Mint drink. Both were very well prepared and had good flavors. I would order both again. For our mains we had the Jerk Roasted Duck and the CK Fish Chowder. The duck was a nice size and definitely didn't leave you hungry. the spicing was great, and it was cooked perfectly. The Fish chowder was wonderful. They corn meal friend cod on the top mixed well with the flavors of the clams, mussels and shrimp in a really nice curry base. I highly recommend booking a reservation through OpenTable as this place gets packed during dinner time and the restaurant is not that big. Here's what we got: Suya Beef ($18) Great appetizer to share. It came with 4-5 pieces of steak that were tender and had a nice char. The caramelized red onions, pickled mustard seeds, and mint relish really complimented the steak. It was such a unique and delicious combination! Jerk Roasted Duck ($34) Must get dish here! The flavors of the duck was out of this world and it was literally fork tender! I was surprised when the meat fell apart without me cutting into it. It was so flavorful that it paired perfectly with the rice and a pickled side dish called pikliz. I would come back just for the duck! New Fish Curry ($28) Giant piece of monkfish over a coconut curry broth. The fish had a nice sear and the was tender on the inside. It was served with a house made flatbread to soak up all the delicious curry. My friend licked the bowl clean! Beef Short Rib ($32) Huge chunks of braised short ribs that had good flavors and was paired with spinach and a side of yuca fries. Unfortunately, the yuca fries were a miss for us - they were cut too big and the texture was dense, dry, and not crispy at all. Overall, I was impressed by the flavor profiles of the food here. We also tried a few cocktails (One in a Million is perfect for sweet cocktail lovers and the Espresso Martini is strong and potent). Would not recommend for brunch. The burger was certainly not a 26 dollar burger, quite small has not super flavorful. The shrimp and grits were uninspired, just fine. Also tails on shrimp while they are covered in sauce is just annoying. In addition, over the past 6 months I've watched quality service and food tremendously drop, hopefully changes are in progress. Today they seemed extremely understaffed with 2 servers both taking orders and manning the host desk and one server being still in training. I had booked this place a month in advance for a late evening time slot as they get filled quickly . The concept looked very interesting and I was eager to check this out with family . We sat outdoors as our group had 5 people and they did not have availability inside . This is a small place. Outdoor seating was cute and cozy. Th ere is one heater for the entire patio. We had the kelewele and jackfruit sliders and ordered two rounds of both as they were really delicious but very small portions . The spicy chutney with kelewele was a hit with us . And I have never come across vegetarian sliders across my trips in US and this was delightfully delicious! The okra was really good too but not a shareable plate. I tried the side of Yucca fries as an appetizer. The chutney accompaniment was very good but the fries were ok. I had never tasted yucca fries before and didn't find them interesting. This is just me . I tried the Sindhi mushroom from entree as I was looking forward to it ..... sadly it missed the mark for me . The dumplings within were dry and rubbery and the flavor overall was very mild, for me . The cilantro rice from the sides section was delicious! I wish they would serve that as an entree. My husband, sister and I shared a few items. The pork momos were good, but slightly small for the price. The chicken and vegetables in the Upham's Bowl were also lacking in flavor, although I thought the buttered rice pilaf underneath was well-seasoned and surprisingly addictive. The pork belly in The Dreamer breakfast sandwich was especially hard, dry and tough to chew. Fortunately, their Basque Cheesecake with orange blossom caramel sauce (which is also on their dinner menu) was phenomenal. We started with Jack fruit sliders with pickled onions and baby arugula on a small brioche bun. I have never had Jack fruit before and I loved this appetizer. I for sure could have had a second round of these sliders and we did entertain the thought! Even though only two come in an order, they provided us with three to accommodate each of us. We all ordered the jerk roasted duck, as we saw it multiple times coming from the kitchen and it looked delicious. We were not disappointed! We all cleaned our plates even though we kept complaining how full we were. The skin of the duck was so crispy, and the chicken just fell off the bone. It was served with a delicious moist rice that was mixed with what I think was black eyed peas. So yes, we were disgustingly full but we decided we couldn't pass up on trying their desserts and shared two desserts between the three of us. While we loved both of them, hands down, we were obsessed with the slow churned pistachio cardamom ice cream served with shortbread. It was so creamy, had a whipped consistency and there were tiny pieces of pistachio in it. I have never tasted ice cream like this! The other dessert was basque cheesecake that sat in an orange blossom caramel sauce. We did not leave a drop of this dessert either. We were all saying at the end of dinner that we don't believe there will be any other restaurant during this Boston convention that will compare to the outstanding food we experienced at Comfort Kitchen on night one! read more

Saw Comfort kitchen in the NYT so knew I had to try it. It's a tiny restaurant that is well decorated. We went on a Friday night and it was very crowded. The staff was very nice and friendly. The menu is quite small but forced me to try some things I have never had before. The cocktails were great. The food was good but expensive for the portion/what they were giving you. The Beef Kafta was undercooked and $14 for just 2 tiny meatballs. The duck entree was fantastic and something worth coming back for. Overall it was a one and done type of place for me. read more

I had bookmarked this restaurant about a month ago because I wanted to check it out. I saw pictures of the food and restaurant, and knew it was the sort of place I'd want to support and check out. I'm glad I was able to make the reservation and go last week. I loved the ambiance. The decor is clean and modern. I also thought the service was very welcoming and friendly. My friend and I ordered the yassa chicken which was very tasty. I thought the seasoning was a bit overpowering, but I liked the cassava on the side. I think if I were to go back, I would try something different! read more
